I may have biases on other groups but for Red Velvet I just couldn’t pick any bias! They’re really strong as a group and they singing together is just top notch… Left to right actually Wendy-Seulgi-Irene-Yeri-Joy, and you wont believe people used to can’t differentiate Irene and Yeri despite them being Oldest and Youngest in the group! Their B-Sides are on another level, me and my friends always jokes abt how their b-sides so good they can be other group’s title track (or even their own TT) Will be waiting for other RV content🫶🫶🫶

A rap component has become a necessary part of almost all kpop, but in the hierarchy of a group, "the rapper" is the lowest status member, especially in the Zeroth thru Second Generations. High notes, and hence vocalists, are exalted. Main vocalists like Wendy who have power and can really belt are the top, then Lead vocalists like Seulgi (her low resonance, while unique, excludes her from being a Main anywhere), Leaders (Irene), Maknaes (Yeri), Centers (Joy, because she's tall), lower-voiced girls end up in the remaining roles as dancers (Irene & Seulgi, but they already have higher status positions), or at the bottom, as rappers. Only groups with a large number of members (like Girls Generation) would have more than one rapper. Red Velvet notably _has no defined rapping roles._ They parcel out those lines most often to to Yeri, Joy, or Irene, but the decision is made on a song-by-song basis. As the leading edge of the 3rd Generation, Red Velvet saw the lack of status given to rappers and consciously avoided it. Mamamoo, another group that helped define the 3rd Generation, went a different way -- they gave their rapper creative control; she wrote most of her own lyrics and gained crediting rights.
