My was Whitney such a BEAUTIFUL woman !!! I had never seen this interview - it was a very good interview by Keenan Ivory Wayans !! Love and miss Whitney !! Love the Wayans !!!
I enjoyed this interview! Whitney had a great sense of humor. Always down to earth; no matter how much money she inquired. She was a good hearted human being; that loved people. God bless her Soul!
Love Whitney's speaking voice too. It's sooo soothing. If only she could have gotten off that crazy train at this time in her life all would have been well.
What a cute interview. She looks beautiful & I'm reminded how much I loved her pre-drug days speaking voice. That part about her growing up in Newark and the story of the hanger is funny. She seemed like such a nice person. It's a shame that fame had such a negative effect on her life. RIP beautiful lady. We'll love you FOREVER.
Flashback to the good times. Well done, Whitney! Thank you for sharing your gift from God. You are safe from all harm in God's arms. My thoughts and prayers continue for your mother Cissy and Krissy. I will always love you, forever missed in my heart. Peace
The special they were talking about where they mentioned Aretha, Dionne & Diana, is Classic Whitney if I am not mistaken. It was a 2 night HBO event! She didnt medley's of their songs mixed with her greatest hits. One of my fav Whitney Concerts.
So that's it, that's all the tense all about and that look Keenan gave her haha,...He got a big crush on our girl Whitney! 10:01 and you can feel his envy to Bobby Brown in 10:54 ... aw Keenan bless ur heart! ;) We love u Whitney!
She is from the projects of Newark ,, I'm from Newark projects too.. She ain't lying she lived on south 8th street in Newark,, baxter terrace projects aka BT,,before moving to doddtown ,, this is the nickname for the area she lived in east orange,, she lived on Dodd street there,, BT has been shut down , scheduled for demolition.. Whit had hood in her,, that makes you unphased by stuff that others will be afraid of.. She was the only star that could,, walk thru Newark airport without body gu
Whitney was humble and naturally gifted performer. She was funny in this interview. I enjoyed watching the interview. This is the first time I watched it Whitney looked beautiful in anything she wears. Gowns or a ball cap. The legend, icon and queen. RIP
These early interviews show that Whitney was humble and lucid and lighthearted. A stark contrast to the erratic and defensive person she would become in later years. Sadly we can only wonder what her life would've been like had she made wiser choices. May she rest in eternal peace.
Whitney had some powerful vocals on that Cinderella project!! No one could have done better. I love you Whit............I cannot stand your ex husband, what a looser!!
Cissy hated when Whitney said she was from the projects. She like “chile what projects” she stayed for 5 weeks in the projects with a cousin while Cissy away. She said it must’ve been Whitney trying to fit in. Because she tried to keep them away from that. They raised their kids in a middle working class neighborhood to escape the madness of the city. But you cannot control where they go once they go out😭
Everyone needs to read the book: What Really Killed Whitney Houston. It's short but powerful & makes perfect sense when re-watching all these interviews. So painful!
One book I really enjoyed was THE WHITNEY I KNEW, by Bebe Winans. I always take into account who is doing the writing, and what their motivations might be before I read something about her. This book shows her personality, and is written by a loving friend, someone she called "brother".
Okay. I just read this book. I think they made a lot of good points, but are missing some key facts about her. If you are able to view her life when she was a child - and take into account that she was a super sensitive kid, it's easier to see what I think was really going on with her. Look at us - she got judged a lot while she was alive, and we're all still judging her, including me - ha.
I think when she was busy and doing interviews it was a little escape for her. Whitney seemed happy and relaxed, I also think it depended on the interviewer too. Miss Whitney!
She always got that story wrong because her mother was actually working for Aretha at the time of her accident n Vegas but I can see how she can mix it up because her mom worked for both the same year, this also the part n the book where she says she's from the Bricks n names the projects When Cissy said What Bricks? "You ain't seen a damn brick a day in your life" She said that she wasn't saying she was better than the Projects, its just that she worked very hard not to be, And East Orange and being the only black family on the block was far from the project's, and that she was very upset with her from lying where she was because they booed her as we all know in 89 at the soul train Awards witch is how met Bobby, for visiting the pop stations n Detroit n not the hip hip one, but age was a popstar and Clive set up everything for her from interviews to tours so all she did was went to work she didn't know the politics behind it, and they booed her on it, so her mom filled that after Marriage to Bobby who really was from the bricks, that she chose him to marry and choice to do a urban album with his producers (Babyface & LA Reid) and lie by saying she was from the bricks was because of that incident, and it scared her pretty bad, and she thought that was the only way black people would like or forgive her according to Cissy, and she said Forgive u for what? Tell them to kiss ur ass, u don't ever put ur self in some like box in say I sing this kinda music only for this group of people, I'm as black as it gets (Cissys talking n the book) and I've done thousands of sections for Aretha, Little Richard, Luther, Wilson Picket, to Dusty Springfield, (And her favourite job) Elvis Presley, David Bowie, Rolling Stones, and do you think that I could've done that if I choose to say no I only back up black singers, or gospel, or I can't sing Country Music, she said u are a singer and you sing from your heart period, u don't care nor can u help u dose in don't like it.
Whitney was always trying to prove her blackness to the people. It's sad. There are different degrees of blackness and it all fine. Just because she grew up working class and then middle class doesn't mean she wasn't black enough if she didn't grow up in the projects. Cissy said in her book that Whitney told people she was from the projects to try and convince people that she was just an ordinary girl from the neighborhood. This would piss Cissy off because they sacrificed so Whitney wouldn't have to live in the projects or live like the average girl in East Orange. Cissy said they never lived in Baxter Terrace, but Whitney did stay there once for 5 weeks with family friends while Cissy was working in Vegas with Elvis.
If only Bobby really was romantic. If you watched Being Bobby Brown, you can see how horribly he treated her. No respect whatsoever. I wish she had married this Keenan Wayans dude instead. WH might still be with us.
Please, people. Bobby did NOT get Whitney into drugs. Jennifer Holiday says that she and Whitney did drugs together before she even met Bobby. And, as far as "Being Bobby Brown," take another look! It was Whitney who treated Bobby badly. I love Whitney, and I miss her, but leave Bobby alone.
But the world is full of zanies and fools Who don't believe in sensible rules And won't believe what sensible people say And because these daft and dewey-eyed dopes Keep building up impossible hopes, Impossible things are happening every day...
She was pretty No wonder Michael Jackson wanted to marry her Had THANGS in common Robyn was damn lucky Bobby was lucky & whomever else Woman could really sing!!!!!
She tried so hard to please black folk. The night she was booed,it killed her spirit. Never quite recovered from that. Til this day,I still believe Whitney took her own life. Her daughter wasn't happy with her,her career wasn't the same, The voice that we once loved so very much was gone. Searching for love but ended up being played by that snake Ray J. That note she gave to Brandy. Why give a note in the middle of someone else's interview,if you felt you were gonna be around. Why not wait until the next day. The fight at the party and That final song she sang,'Jesus Loves Me'. Calling all those who mattered to her the day before or the day of. I remember when singer Monica asked Whitney,Why are she wet again. She claimed she swimming twice a day. Whitney was preparing. I believe she was tired and 💔..no Robyn,no Bobby and Ray J was there for the wrong reasons. . Maybe that note to Brandy was an apology. She did make her transition on Brandy's birthday. What ever the case may be. She is missed
People who are writing here that she was high are so ridiculous!!! What make you think that she was high?? Because she jokes? She's laughing? She's happy??? So if she was sad, you would have said that she was depressed. Stop writing the same thing everywhere!! She wasn't high all the time. Whitney was normally a funny and goofy person!! Shame on you!
Reminds me of the Rosie interview; high as a kite. You can see it in her facial expressions and her taking those big breaths. That's coke, baby. UGH. Those dang PANT SUITS and ball-caps!!! She could be so tomboy-ish sometimes. They were so un-feminine. Hated her 'style' from 95/96 until 98. She brought it back BIG time for MLIYL.
To have that much fame and still remain as humble as she was. My God she was a angel!
man she could have been a comedian if she wasn't a singer. she was hilarious
When someone dies but you didn't know them.. they are never really dead to you. Watching this I forget that she passesd
Love Whitney's speaking voice too. It's sooo soothing.
If only she could have gotten off that crazy train at this time
in her life all would have been well.
wow 7:24 at 12 yrs old she sounded like MJ when he was in Jacksons 5. Very similair tone back then.. amazing!
He was so right about her setting the tone for a new generation.
I still cannot fathom she is no longer with us on earth, but in spirit I can feel her...
Whitney was wonderful. I never thought I'd see this again.
THAT GIFT . RIP . I MISS THE HELL OUT OF THIS LADY
she was silly. crazy lady. maybe that's all she is being here. it doesn't mean she is high. i doubt she was high all the time.
Good interview. It was original and not the typical ones who harp on the bad press. It was nice to hear a purely positive interview.
Flashback to the good times. Well done, Whitney! Thank you for sharing your gift from God. You are safe from all harm in God's arms. My thoughts and prayers continue for your mother Cissy and Krissy. I will always love you, forever missed in my heart. Peace

This is her best interview ever! Now I am crying? Why oh why?
Whitney was so vigorous and delightful that time, so regretful she's gone so soon >
Still miss my Nippy...
This is very sweet and almost innocent..
He introduced her as the first lady of song. What a rightfully deserved title
Whitney is a G I love her
Great interview.
I love this interview with sweet Nippy thank you for sharing it GingerSpice! : )
The story of her vocal cords 😮😟 OMG god 100% gifted her. Spebt a little more time on her. Wow ❤❤
The special was 'Classic Whitney' and it was on HBO in 1997.
"I got my diploma and signed with Arista next day". Somehow I wish she wanted. Put more time in for herself.
So that's it, that's all the tense all about and that look Keenan gave her haha,...He got a big crush on our girl Whitney! 10:01 and you can feel his envy to Bobby Brown in 10:54 ... aw Keenan bless ur heart! ;) We love u Whitney!
Amazing and interesting person revealing her many sides.
This was a cool interview...thanks muchly for posting. You can tell she was having a great time being there. Ugh! I miss her!

After reading the book, What Killed Whitney Houston, this interview is in much clearer context. Wow. Poor Whitney. I hope she's at peace now.

I remember this interview. I don't know why this show was cancelled. Keenan was warm, humorous and lively.
I think when she was busy and doing interviews it was a little escape for her. Whitney seemed happy and relaxed, I also think it depended on the interviewer too. Miss Whitney!
She said Ebonics! Done
Great Interview.
her being from Newark kept her grounded
i lov whn she talks about vaccuminglmao

They are talking about an HBO special called Classic Whitney. There were two shows in Washington DC. It is easy to find here at Youtibe.
Whitney was always trying to prove her blackness to the people. It's sad. There are different degrees of blackness and it all fine. Where can i find the version whitney sang of "more love to thee" ? Anybody?
If only Bobby really was romantic. If you watched Being Bobby Brown, you can see how horribly he treated her. No respect whatsoever. I wish she had married this Keenan Wayans dude instead. WH might still be with us.
What year is this? If memory serves me correctly I'm guessing around 1997??
Неподражаемая, роскошная, обожаю ее!
Wow first comment in 8 years

lol in the "driven the whitney houston story," cissy says she is in california with aretha when the hangar went down whitney's throat
Missing her sooooooo
What special did she do? And where can I find it? Thanks for uploading this. I'm crazy about Whitney.

Not exactly middle class once her parents divorced for a time.

She ain't high. She from Newark. Don't do Whitney, heauxs.
