I remember watching Jaws as a kid and immediately asking why they never used poisoned meat slabs like the one the shark took from the peer earlier in the film, or why they never brought assault rifles and just riddled the shark with bullets, or why not attach all 5 barrels to the 1st 'harpoon' on really short lines so that they could keep the shark near the surface at all times and alert people on the beaches wherever it went from now on.
Honestly, I LOVE this film, but it's best not too think it through too much.

There’s a sort of hint? That’s EXACTLY the point of ALL the dialog at the end of the movie. Literally every bit of dialog at the end is a direct reference to jaws jaws 2 jaws 3 and piranha 3-D.
At least Quint would've still been alive to this day and the Orca would still be afloat.
