So the 4-1 only has to do with suction stroke. And all other curves has to do with the compression stroke btw i didnt understand about the 3-4 curve why it shouldnt be straight line

for opening of exit valve certain amount of minimum force is required which means some finite amount of pressure.. once the piston starts compression and reaches that pressure, the valve opens and delivery of air begins.. since piston is continuously moving upwards this minimum pressure is maintained at which discharge takes place.
