My band opened for Hinder a couple weeks ago in Ky. Man, they were the most down to earth, professional group of guys we’ve played with. After the show they invited us down to a bar with them to have a burger and some beers. Not only were the band members nice, their tour manager and drum tech was top notch as well. We hope to get to play for those guys again!
Awesome, man, I love that comment, and it's really cool to hear, you like to hope that most bands are like that. If you don't mind me asking what's the name of your band? Also, thanks for watching and supporting the channel 🤙 🙏
@StoneProphet That's awesome, man. I hope that y'all have a blast and if you remember reach back out, let me know how that goes. Let me know how the guys are and I hope y'all kill it. Thanks for the comment and if u don't mind me asking, what's the name of your band? Thanks for watching and supporting the channel 🤙 🙏
"If you type into a computer 'I want an AI generated lead singer,' Austin Winkler's gonna come out" I honestly could not have put that better myself. 😅 Glad I'm not the only one who thought he was the ideal band frontman back in the day. Shouldn't have let the drugs & alcohol get to him, though 😔
Absolutely. They may not have been the greatest band of all time but as far as stage presence and being a good frontman he had all the characteristics and everything he needed.
I went to so many of Hinder’s concerts, met them many times, and caught multiple guitar picks and drum sticks. That was my band. The current line up doesn’t do it like Austin did
Yeah, they definitely came on the scene strong had a good act that was easily relatible for like you said, that age group, but man, they sure took a step back quickly. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel 🙏🤙
Austin's distinctive rock and roll voice was their hallmark. Their new guy just sounds like bad karaoke when they play any of the songs from the Austin era.
@davidcbeaudoin Even though I know some people like their new music, I completely agree with you, and for me, that's the case with a lot of bands, three days grace, being another example. Sometimes a new singer can come in and fit in just fine or even bring his own style and sometimes like you said it's just a bad karaoke performance. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel 🤙 🙏
Soooooo happy I once saw them live here in Germany! After Austin left this band died for me. His voice is vers special, perfect, awesome!! Please support him, he's doing music again and he's brilliant as always.
i graduated high school with Mark King from hinder and it was awesome watching a guy from guymon oklahoma become a star he went to 10 year reunion and showed up with a model but he was same humble cool ass dude
Hey, I really appreciate the comment and that's awesome, especially if you have known somebody before fame and then got to watch them succeed to whatever level they get to whether it's insane superstardom or just getting to hover around that line of becoming a superstar and just famous. Either way, it's definitely cool to hear that somebody can come home to their roots and be the same person even after tasting success. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel 🤙 🙏
Saw them in 06 in Winnipeg but was more for a couple of their opening acts. They had 2 Winnipeg bands open for them Inward Eye and Tinfoil Phoenix. Both great bands, highly recommend giving them a listen.
One point to note is that at the 9:38 mark you flash a band photo that includes an entirely different singer, Nolan Neal, whom passed away 2 years ago this month. Nolan sang on the original, and more country version of, When the Smoke Clears. He was slated to be the next singer, after Austin but prior to Marshall, but things didn't work out.
@brianjones1968 Correct that is the point in the video where I was talking about Austin leaving and some of the band line-up changes. Still thank you for watching, showing engagement and supporting the channel 🤙 🙏
I don't think I've ever really liked an entire album from a band, but I still enjoyed it. For Hinder, I enjoyed enough songs from the first four albums that im definitely a fan. All American Nightmare introduced me to them, and I love it.
Nice blend of information and opinion. Like most people here, I wondered what became of them too, because like you said, that first release was amazing. And yeah, keeping in line with a fan base in music is beyond hard, as shown by how many bands actually succeed at doing it. Writing hit songs is so hard that even the greatest musicians are excited to have 2 on each album out of 8-12 songs. It's also crazy hard to predict what will click and won't with audience. Being a pro is showing up and doing the job right, being a star requires magic. It looks like they ran out of magic. Bummer.
I was just a casual fan of these guys. Only know the hits. But just the other day I ran into them at a Starbucks in upstate NY, and they were super nice. I’m totally rooting for them to have a nice comeback in the rock game.
I’m 23 hinder was my first band I got hooked on when I was 7 or 8 I heard get stoned on the radio as well. Was also my first concert i’m lucky I got to see them in their prime in 2012.
@DiehardtNG10 Definitely a band for me that was there when I was in my coming of age, years. Sounds like you were introduced to them while you were a little younger. But still I understand the greatness they were and could have even continued to be had they not had their issues. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel 🤙 🙏
I personally love American Nightmare, I would honestly say my favorite Hinder album. 2 sides of me is one of those songs that has to be cranked and causes speeding tickets
Love the comment, I definitely think Hinder wasn't alot if people's cup of tea but the guys had talent but they just couldn't stay consistent. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel 🤙 🙏
AMEN TO THIS COMMENT 🙏 I agree, but I personally think the song that takes the cake in the speeding ticket category is Take It To The Limit (strong contenders: Use Me, Room 21, Save Me, Waking Up The Devil)
I was 21 in 2008. Met a girl. We were together for 4 years. Eventually we split up because we both needed to work on our futures. It was mutual, but she wanted to remain friends and close. I couldn’t do it because we were still in love and I couldn’t make that transition. So we stopped talking. But I never forgot about her. Found another girl some years down the line. We were together for 5 years. But I secretly never got over my ex. Lips of an angel hit different for me back then. To sum it up. In 2023 the girl I was with cheated and got pregnant. Agree that "All American Nightmare" got little to no promotion. But heavily disagree about it not being a good album. It's the album I listen to on a regular basis.
Ehhh, their best album? Absolutely not, that's Extreme Behavior, but I always find myself coming back to songs like The Life & Red Tail Lights for sure
I saw Hinder in 2008 at the Hard Rock in Orlando and I thought they kicked ass. Austin brought a lot of energy to the stage and that is something that has stuck with me all those years. Plus, the same night was the first time I saw Five Finger Death Punch and that was crazy!
Hinder is still one of my favorite bands. American Nightmare and Freakshow are easily as strong as their first two. I go 9 songs deep on both of them. Smoke Clears and The Reign are not as great but are still good for 6 strong songs each. I've got a 65+ song Hinder playlist that I enjoy. I saw them in 2019 with Saving Abel and both bands freaking rocked. Hinder is just straight-up hard rock. They have great raunchy songs and also some good introspective songs.
@richardivey1585 I absolutely love that comment and I appreciate you taking the time to share. Again Hinder has a special place in my heart, mostly for the time and place when they started to come into popularity. But as a rock band they've stayed true to who they are and they keep grinding and that is something I absolutely respect. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel 🤙 🙏
Dude! 1st album was LEGENDARY! 2nd album was AMAZING! All American nightmare was in my opinion the worst of the first 4 albums. And welcome to the freak show was very underrated! Tons of great songs on there.
Another good example & potential video you could cover is the band known as Winds of Plague. They are an underground death core band. that hasn't released a new album since 2017. Side note, After All American Nightmare I lost interest in Hinder.
@rockfordfos1 As far as 3 doors down, they've definitely fizzled out since their time being in their prime. But that's definitely a video I'll visit here in the future. Thanks for the comment. Also thanks for watching and supporting the channel 🤙 🙏
Loved the first 3albums. Had some great songs on each album but when they changed singer. That killed them for me. His voice there lyrics and music just flopped so bad. As a solo artist i still enjoy listening to him
I agree with you. I was never a huge fan of them, but there were some songs off that first album that I really liked. Cody (drummer) is my extended family cousin. I grew up with him and when my mom found out about it, I had to have a really uncomfortable conversation with her. I was an adult at the time so, not a big deal. I had a really embarrassing moment one night though, because I live a block from the Tulsa state fairgrounds and I was in my backyard one night and I heard Lips of an Angel being played. At first I got kind of excited and started looking up online who was playing. Right before I found out, I said, “This has to be the worst cover band I’ve ever heard”, to my friend and found out it was them. They’re playing again tonight for the final day of the fair, so we’ll see how that goes.

@@RockTalkWithMike oh, yeah. He’s just a guy in a rock band. His grandmother brags about him all the time, which I think embarrasses him a little. lol which I understand.
Loved the first 3 albums. Austin had a great voice and like you said, had the whole frontman package going for him. Welcome to the Freakshow had its moments, but a huge letdown. I’ve tried many times to listen to new stuff but for whatever reason it just seems blah. As for other bands I thought should have been huge were New American Shame, and Oleander. Another band that was supposed to be the next huge thing was Buckcherry, loved the debut, but after their 3rd album their shtick got old imo. Another band I don’t know if people have heard about is Hair Of The Dog. They had a great debut but, like most bands got worse on each release. The first album is a good listen.
I personally know and worked with the Hinder family. None of this is really true and I worked behind the scenes with them also but to say they fell from grace or had no marketing had nothing to do with labels or Austin.
Extreme behavior - all American nightmare were great in my opinion. Didn’t dislike welcome to the freak show either. Miss me some Austin winkler for sure! Haven’t listened to em since he left
omg and you are so WRONG about the cheating! He gets a[hone call late at night. It's his ex. She's crying. Is she being abused? No one knows. That isn't mentioned? He says "Is it gonna cause a fight". It's possible her new guy is controlling and she was abused and bc her and Austin are friends she reached out to him. It's quite possible he's the only one she feels comfortable enough talking to. He also says "We never really moved on". This sounds a lot more like he hasn't heard form her in awhile after a bad breakup. They just rebounded with others and they both still love each other. He still has strong feelings for her but never felt like it was right to reach out but he thinks about her. Then she calls and she's upset. Everything is hitting him like a ton of bricks.

Sorry..... but I disagree..... I like all 5 of those albums - Extreme Behavior, All American Nightmare, Welcome to the Freakshow, When the Smoke Clears, and the Reign. I listen to each every day on my drive to work. I hope they have a new album in the works
That's awesome, I will never intentionally disrespect any band or artist. Now if im not fan I will say so but I know that's solely my opinion and not always one that's universal. Wow! I just saw him in his song 2 years ago; Superjaded. What the heck happened?????? He looks like a skeleton!!!? Why do ppl get into drugs and ruin their lives??? Why Why why? What a waste!! 😢
Hinder for me stopped being good once Austin was no longer the singer. I have heard many songs Austin did on his own under his name Austin John Winkler and I enjoy it as much as when he was singing in Hinder.
Austin WAS Hinder and hinder WAS Austin! One of my FAVORITE bands but I can’t listen to the new band. They could’ve done sooo much better with a new singer I’ve seen hinder in concert multiple times, but my All time favorite 2 shows were hinder opening with Motley Crue and also hinder with Lynyrd Skynyrd! I personally love all of the hinder albums with Austin in them except freakshow. All American night nightmare was decent album. I loved take it to the limit though
No problem, it's all good. That's the point of the comments section. I'm only stating my opinion. I know there's always others out there that are not gonna agree and that's the beauty of having the conversation. Either way I believe we're all fans of rock music even though we may not all like the same bands it doesn't matter because I still beleive it's the best form of music ever. Hinder, drop your current lead singer, he sucks. Bring in Austin Winkler for this song I wrote, recorded ruclips.net/video/QYsYtpS7hr0/видео.html for a new record and get your band to a new beginning as your band writing and Austin on lead vocal was phenomenal. My song may be the one that brings you back. Do not allow your current lead singer to even breath a word of this song. Austin Winkler is the One. Believe That. PartyOnPeople.
Austins demons killed hinder . There were great songs on freakshow and take it to the limit. And if you listen to austins single cliq you can tell he just wasn't the same artistically. Listened to some of there new stuff and its just not good. So long story short they should try bringing Austin back as they are better together than apart
Thank you for the comment and absolutely that is an unfortunate trend in Rock history when one or more members are consumed by their demons. Some are able to work through for their selves and salvage the band their with and some like Austin are unfortunately only able to salvage one. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel 🙏 🤙
Man I take my hat off to you. I was born and raised in Oklahoma. Granted in 2007 I was 14. But I grew up in the metal/hardcore/ rock scene here and hinder was a joke to everyone. The videos were so corny that we literally turned them on just to laugh. You like what you like, and I respect that..... but this band didn't stick around because there were awful. Even the outfits they wore were laugh worthy. The only people who liked them were middle aged women(my mom was one, God rest her soul) they had thier time and went away like they should have.
@deputyduffy Yeah it's crazy but that is very common in the Rock community. There are alot of lead men don't deliver to the level of their studio recorded vocals. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel 🤙 🙏
@@RockTalkWithMike True, BUT it hurts your following if your song aren't that good. Motley Crue...good band, good songs, sucky singer. Hinder: They never built up a following is what I'm saying.

@@RockTalkWithMike I try my best to give bands a try. The music is just simple and the lyrics are terrible with no substance. There is a reason rock is irrelevant right now as far as mainstream and bands like hinder are the reason. This is wine mom rock. It barely can be called rock it's so tame. I like all music from NWA to Elton John but this music is really boring and lacks substance. These guys write music to sell records not to express themselves and it shows. We need rock with a little heart in it.

So what happened to them.
the song "All American Nightmare" is a great song though, in at least my opinion
Boumount Club Kansas City Saints of Los Angeles Tour with MOTLEY CRUE 2009 Omaha Nebraska Nebraska favorite song cover of BORN TO BE WILD STEPPING WOLF
Extreme behavior came out in 2005
Lips of an agel was not about infidelity but it was about his former girlfriend in the video who has passed away and when he gets the phone call it is the anniversary of her passing.
Sorry..... but I disagree.....
If you like all of Hinders albums that great, I have gave them all chances I just can't buy into all of them. Thanks for the comment also thanks for watching and supporting the channel 🤙 🙏
They have 6 albums…..
I thought all of Austin’s albums were bangers. Anything after he left to me was disappointing. Wish he did more solo work.
I enjoyed take it to the limit and American nightmare both more than extreme behavior
@TommyRyan1 I appreciate the comment and those are the comments i love because I really can only speak from my point of view. Definitely a band that made a huge impact on me at the point In my life when extreme behavior came out but, personal taste, I fell off. But I always know there's a fan base out there and i love to hear that side of things. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel 🤙 🙏
@@RockTalkWithMike right on man. Loved hinder and enjoyed the video
New singer is good and a great guitarist but Hinder with Austin was another thing, much better and original.
Wow! I just saw him in his song 2 years ago; Superjaded. What the heck happened?????? He looks like a skeleton!!!? Why do ppl get into drugs and ruin their lives??? Why Why why? What a waste!! 😢
I completely disagree with you. I loved every release with Austin. Sucks they dissolved. Tks man.
Hinder for me stopped being good once Austin was no longer the singer. I have heard many songs Austin did on his own under his name Austin John Winkler and I enjoy it as much as when he was singing in Hinder.
Hinder rocks miss Austin
a professional wrestler had "up all night" as his entrance song,(brian myers) thats the first time i ever heard anything from them.
Austin WAS Hinder and hinder WAS Austin! One of my FAVORITE bands but I can’t listen to the new band. They could’ve done sooo much better with a new singer
I’ve seen hinder in concert multiple times, but my All time favorite 2 shows were hinder opening with Motley Crue and also hinder with Lynyrd Skynyrd!
I personally love all of the hinder albums with Austin in them except freakshow. All American night nightmare was decent album. I loved take it to the limit though
@RefRMart10 Love the comment and I absolutely agree, also thanks for watching and supporting the channel 🤙 🙏
I disagree I love all American nightmare and take it to the limit
No problem, it's all good. That's the point of the comments section. I'm only stating my opinion. I know there's always others out there that are not gonna agree and that's the beauty of having the conversation. Either way I believe we're all fans of rock music even though we may not all like the same bands it doesn't matter because I still beleive it's the best form of music ever. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel 🤙 🙏
@@RockTalkWithMike agree. Loved the video 🎸
There tastes changed,it happens
Man I take my hat off to you. I was born and raised in Oklahoma. Granted in 2007 I was 14. But I grew up in the metal/hardcore/ rock scene here and hinder was a joke to everyone. The videos were so corny that we literally turned them on just to laugh. You like what you like, and I respect that..... but this band didn't stick around because there were awful. Even the outfits they wore were laugh worthy. The only people who liked them were middle aged women(my mom was one, God rest her soul) they had thier time and went away like they should have.
omg DUDE! We don't need your life story nor do we need to hear you singing! 😵💫🙄
To date best band ever live (besides like a legend like greenday) is Papa Roach… he stole hinders show tbh… but hinder rocks too of course
Austin Winkler, is HINDER, bottom line. 😎😎😎😎
The second and third album was the best work they put out that first one is as blah as the newer stuff
Biggest problem they had was their singer couldn't sing live.... Like he sucked...Sorry but he did.
Puddle of Mudd
Crossfade
I'm sorry but hinder are a terrible band. Their songs are just thw worst
@ronjames4151 Thank you for leaving the comment and I gotta be honest. That's why I love music so much. Go look at all the comments and you see how many people love hinder but yet there are some people like yourself that don't like them and believe their just not that good. It's just amazing how some people can love so.ething so much and others can think there is not much there. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel 🤙 🙏
@ronjames4151 I absolutely love the comment and 100 percent agree. Thanks for taking the time to let me know what you think and like I said it is just amazing to hear how opinions can go so far In different directions when it comes to certain bands and that's what makes each of us unique with who we are because we all have the ability to feel something different then the next person.
@RockTalkWithMike Dude, I would *_love_* to have _you_ for a friend! 😁🤘🏻
I just subscribed! 😉
Awesome man, I really appreciate the comment and thanks for watching and supporting the channel 🙏 🤙
@@RockTalkWithMike By the way, did you ever talk about “All-American Nightmare”?
That’s totally my *_favorite_* song right now! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
When I first heard Hinder I thought these guys are a bit late because grunge was the main course on the menu.
