Looks quite similar to the Low Blood Glucose Seizure my friend Chelsea has had a couple of times. She has diabetes but I suppose it wouldn't be particularly surprising if the body could do this in response to a reasonably healthy persons blood sugar dropping chronically low as well?

@@eillohtims5132 I don't have diabetes and my sugars still drop. I've had them at 40 (my meter only read down to 30) before for no reason that I could think of. I felt normal just a little sick to my stomach and tired. I even checked them 2-3 times on different fingers and they all read in the 40's. I should've been in a coma on my death bed from what I was told from my doctor not functioning and awake. A 3 glucose tablets later and they only came up to 80.

Great effort from HER, whatever you think, amazed of some of the comments from people here, you want to try carrying that much weight for just 1 kilometre, even what Sam was carrying, the fact is, she did a tremendous effort doing what she did. Sam just lives on a different planet.....
Alex Williamson trust its a joke some people thinking what she did is easy. Bet most people in this comment section couldnt do 20 squats with 45 kg on there back let alone carry it for kms in an uncomfortable posistion. Not to mention she probably only weighs 60 something kg herself

As an epileptic lemme tell you, that looks like the start of a seizure to me, rolled back eyes, twitching limbs, I personally also do the raised arm as well, as a “warning” that I’m about to have a seizure. I would definitely say that’s more a seizure and less of a faint.

Carried two full bergens with 5 days of field kit each and a daysack + full webbing about 2 miles in summer heat wearing a tshirt, fleeced hoodie and smock. Got to the FRV point and had sweated through all three layers.

I'm apart of a cadet force for at least 3 years now. I remember going on camps with my squadron every July having to wear full army uniform (three thick layers and a smock) in 35+°C heat. I'm not good with heat and I had warned my sergeants that I was getting way too hot in the uniform. They said tough and made me do the rest of the exercises even with my protests. I disobeyed them 3 times by taking off parts of my uniform when I could to cool down. I knew I was overheating but thought I had to just endure it.
Morning after, wake at 4:30, felt very very sick. Started packing my burgen but then went to the toilets and proceeded to be violently sick.
I had very bad heatstroke, sunburn and I didn't/couldn't eat anything since it made me sick.
People on camp dismissed me from the planned schedule ahead, but my god was there no empathy in sight and I pretty much had to care for myself. All I got from the rest of the squadron was teasing, lectures on how I should have "handled it better" and how "I was the only one who was taking damage" and was given the name "sick kid" for the rest of the camp. No one took it seriously and made me feel ashamed and worthless compared to the other cadets (which seriously took a sledgehammer to my mental state). Yet, I persevered and was able to compete with other cadets the day after. Yet I still ate very little, was forced to wear full uniform again and carry 10+ kilo in weight from rifles, webbing, ammo with a nice touch of thick camo paint.
I had lost several kilograms of weight by the time I got home and didn't attend the cadets for a few months.
I'm not saying I hate the army, as really, I don't really know it. But it's things like this which piss me off. Sure, everyone needs to carry their own weight, they signed up for the challenges ahead, we're expected to endure some shit. But this kinda, superior, shaming attitude is what makes me think twice about this lifestyle. The army is a place for people to grow stronger and to believe they are capable for the worst, not the opposite.
Unfortunatley it seems this is how they weed out those who have any kind of biological disadvantage, the mental part may compound it but if you don't have the mental strength to get through the physical aspect (regardless of the adversity of your disadvantage) you will slow down and endanger those around you.
It's a taste of reality most are not used to, when the shit hits the fan you are alone and no one is coming to save you.
Only you know you, sometimes pushing these limits is how we learn them.
Sometimes the best answer is i dont know, and sometimes you have to know when to throw in the towel.
90% of people aren't the military/infantry type and of them 90% can't compete with SAS/special forces levels of human ability.
Don't feel bad about it, it won't change just learn what your capable of, unfortunatley many of us will never be biologically capable of the strength and endurance required both mentally and physically so admit it, get stronger if its possible for you, and put your efforts somwhere you feel is meaningful and make the biggest diffrence you can where you are best.

How much preparation and training did the recruits receive prior to the start of filming .All the challenges are technically difficult and dangerous, even for experts and the cold and high altitude is a killer, yet they have all performed very well. Even the non athletes are much fitter and stronger than the average person and I do not know of any other slim non sporty 49year old woman who could have done as well as Andrea McLean. As a former cancer patient I applaud everyone taking part, but I don't believe they were plucked from their ordinary lives one or two days before being dropped into the Andies
