  • Learn how to successfully use the new Red Heart All in One Granny Square yarn. With this yarn, there are only 2 tails/ends to weave in for each 5-round granny square (instead of 10 tails/ends)!
I have designed an alternate granny square to allow for extra yarn in Round 5 to join the squares together.
My “All in One Granny Square Alternative” pattern is available on my website here:

The special discount code for RUclips watchers/subscribers is “GSA100”. This code is good for $1.00 off this pattern and is only available for use on my website, not in my Etsy shop or Love Crafts store.

Not many people like this yarn.
You have shown it IS possible. Bravo for a great tutorial.

Thank you! I found the biggest obstacle to this yarn was the amount of yarn for crocheting the last round. That's why I made the shorter stitches instead so there's enough yarn left for joining the squares now.

I love you channel. It’s really informative and has helped me in my crochet journey. Hope you continue to post regularly 😊

Thank you for your kind words. I enjoy making videos when my husband and I have the time. We're retired and there are lots of other things that keep us busy (like travel, grandkids, home projects and home renovation). I have lots of plans for more videos, but not as much extra time as my plans! Isn't that the way with life? More ideas than time! Happy crocheting!

Nice work! Reminds me of planned color pooling.
A needle join would be a nice way to end the square instead of the single crochet + slip knot.

Thanks, Dana! A needle join would work well, of course. The reason I still went with the sc, sl st is to keep the tail at the center of the corner. Either way would work. I hope you enjoy this yarn as much as I do! Happy crocheting to you!

Wow. You are one of the very few who didn't struggle making a granny square with this yarn. Thanks for posting this video, bloopers and all. 😂

You're very welcome, Miss Jasmine! I played with the granny square yarn for a while before making the video. That helped quite a bit! I found I needed a slightly different tension for crocheting each of the rounds. Then it was just a matter of replicating that for each of the squares (I'm a pretty patient crocheter, so that helps a lot, too). I'd probably find a different color of this yarn required different tension than this color (if I had bought another color of this yarn instead of just the one skein).
      Happy crocheting to you!

Oh how I wish we could buy this yarn in South Africa, it is a new game changer!! Thank you Crochet Architect for all your great videos! I just learned something new " The golden loop" I have learned so much from watching you through the years!! Stay warm, we are having heat waves in South Africa and lots of fires! Have a beautiful day! 🥰🧶

You're very welcome, Paula! I wish you could buy this yarn in South Africa, too. As you can see on the Yarnspirations website, it comes in quite a few color combinations. It's a little more expensive than a solid color yarn (even on sale), but the time saved not having to weave in all those ends is worth it to me!
We're getting a winter storm here in the higher parts of Arizona, USA this week. I'm thankful that we can stay inside and don't have to go outside very often (being retired). The snow is beautiful to look at, but it can be dangerous to drive in (and walk in, too) with the ice that can develop from the colder temperatures! I pray that you can find relief from your heatwave in South Africa!
Happy crocheting to you now and always!

So u color controlled the yarn. I bought some but was going to make beanies with it and not granny squares. Did not want to struggle. Thanks! ❤❤

You're welcome! Yes. I color controlled the yarn. It takes some practice to get it right. But I'm so glad to have way less ends to weave in. Happy crocheting to you!

You're very welcome, Debra! Thanks for your lovely comments! I wish I had more time to make more videos, but at least my husband and I can make some from time to time to help others with their crochet skills. I hope your granny squares turn out fabulous! Happy crocheting to you!

Hi Pam. I'm still in town, just hanging out at home during the cold, rainy, snowy weather and getting things done at home! I hope you're doing well. Happy crocheting to you!

Hi! So good to see you again. I was hesitant about trying this yarn, but I think I'll pick up a ball if I see it on sale again and give it a try. I like your method, and I'm a patient crocheter too so playing around with the tension until I get in the groove will work for me. Thanks again. You take care.

Thanks, Nancy! It's good to be back (maybe for just a little while, though). I bought the one skein when it was on sale at JoAnn Fabrics last month. It took a while to get the hang of using this yarn, but once you get it, it goes pretty smoothly! God bless you and happy crocheting!
