Yep I agree but did you know that these catamarans are based on Australian designs. Very Large catamarans have been operating to the Great Barrier Reef for years . Cheers
When I served in the Navy from 76 - 82, these ships were dreams in naval architects minds. Ronald Reagan wanted them in his Rapid Deployment Tool Box. He never saw them get commissioned. He would be thrilled to sit in one.

This concept was first used when Australia used a Tasmania ferry to transport equipment to East Temore. It was very successful and the U.S. navy took notice and the rest is history
I knew a bloke in the Italian Navy, he served his period expecting to sail the seas, ended up shuttling between mainland and some islands bringing water to these places. In the end he enjoyed it.
I had no idea the U.S. Navy had such advanced ships! This is exactly why the U.S. Navy is considered the best in the world-they don’t leave anything to chance. It’s all about meticulous planning, top-notch maintenance, and the ability to adapt on the fly to get the job done.

I did not know the United States Navy had ships like this, things like this or why the United States Navy is the best in the world, the Navy does not like playing games and leaving things to chance the greatest planning maintaining and improvising to get the job done 💯.
I've often heard it said the the US military is the worlds best and largest logistics company that occasionally engages in combat. To me,a non-military person, that seems pretty accurate.
I love seeing hovercrafts in the US Navy. I live on the Isle of Wight, where the only commercial hovercraft crossing in the world operates to the UK mainland. They were developed and built just a few miles from me.
And trimarans. And some new steel boats coming up too. The facilities in Alabama are absolutely fantastic and they can build these boats EXTREMELY quickly.
I will never understand why they decided to NOT paint these vessels. I rem seeing them on the outfitting piers like "oh they are gonna paint these in the water?" Nope. Thats the finished product for JHSV. Odd to me.
Given that these logistics ships look remarkably like the failed Litoral Combat ships that are currently being taken out of USN service, wouldn't it make sense to refit those LCS's into the same sort of logistics vessels documented here? For gawd's sake, please DON'T sell the retiring LCS's to Canada, my country. The Canadian Government would cook their books to make it look like we're spending 2% of our GNP on Defense, when, believe me, they have absolutely no intention of honouring that NATO Member requirement. The reason for our perpetual state of military penury can be summed up in one word: Quebec.
The Army should have stayed in this program and procured a few (6-8) of these to regain their Expeditionary capability back. The Army need Amphibious Combat Brigades dedicated to maritime operations working alongside our fellow Marines to relearn a capability that the Army allowed to erode. The Army Should reactivate a few units in order to fulfill this role, 8th ID ,172nd and the 24th ID, 21st Expeditionary Corps a complementary Corps to the 18th Airborne Corps, just a thought, feedback?
I never understood why the Army didn't want to be a part of this program. Why there were set on purchases of Vietnam era ship to shore transportation. It has high hopes but as Gaza and the floating pier proved out. It's outdated and dangerous to the individuals working it. I noticed that the crews flew home while their boats took a charter home from Rota Spain. One flatbottom trip was enough
There is a ship in Philly that is being prepared to be taken to Florida for an artificial reef. It was said that ,that ship the S.S. America crossed the Atlantic Ocean in 3 days 10 hours time. Why aren't Naval ship built to compete in time with that remarkably fast vessel?
That's not bare steel. It's aluminum, and therefore less susceptible to corrosion with exposure to seawater. Although I wish they would have at least sandblasted the hulls in order to create a more uniform appearance (as Austal did for the LCS 2 class ships which were being produced at the same shipyard). I've always felt that with every weld seam being visible, the ship looks like something that came out of Dr. Frankenstein's laboratory.
To save weight. EPF is made of aluminum, which is much less succeptable to seawater corrosion than steel, and high-speed vessels are similar to airplanes in that every bit of weight impacts performance.
Why is no one in the uniform? Does the Navy have casual Fridays now? It’s pronounced Mo-beel Alabama, not “Mobil”. Why didn’t the U.S. use these vessels to get food supplies to Gaza?
We shall see, these are made by Austal, the company that built the crappy LCS. Why they chosen to build these is beyond me. There must be lots of politicians and admirals and retire admirals who got rich from this deal. Made of aluminum to save weight and we know how easily these will burn when hit. They better be well protected because I can see lots of burned sailors and Marines if we go to war with these.
Let's Go US Navy!

It's a shame australia never took it up I saw one in Sydney harbour in navy grey it looked so futuristic that was over twenty years ago .

Military logistics support is critical for maintaining stability worldwide - also Mobile Alabama is pronounced Mobeel and not Mobil!
OK, as long as you drop the S in Illinois!
Good vídeo 👍
The Navy’s logistical and technological prowess is on full display here. A true marvel of modern military operations.
The Austral ships are built by an Australian owned company, based in Australia and the USA, they built Patrol craft for the Royal Australian Navy

So yar, so cute.
When i think of the Navy in 2024 i picture experienced life long navy veterans babysitting the new dei navy in every step of operations.
The ships they show and their crews are civilian, not Navy.
I was on a Guided Missile Frigate back in the day and it was always a good sight to see UNREPS under way. Fuel and food etc.
💚

1:57 Is that a catamaran-like design for stability?

6:51 I thought this was some high school kids visiting during Fleet Week.
The ships and crew are all civilian, The MSC charters these ships.
That is Merchant Marines Division
The catamaran ships are based on the ferry boats in operation in Greece.
These and the ferries in Greece are built by an Australian company called Austal. The u.s. built a factory in Alabama for Austal to build the ships.

Wow absolutely brilliant a modern version of the mulberry docks deployed on d day at Normandy in ww2 😊😊

@colinbarnard6512 The carrying capacity would be a fraction of these ships. Not worth it.
