One more thing for this engines maintenance and this applies to the v6 too. Every 60k valve lash adjustment plus valve cover gasket. Stops lifter tick during startup idle, and prevents possible high rpm damage and timing issues. Solid car, some issues like all cars. My favorite car of all time
That comes in handy because I did not know that about the 4G eclipse. I will be making sure that if I make any further videos on this vehicle that I'm going to include that. That should help out a lot of people when their eclipses get older or higher in mileage. Thank you!
Timing Belt is 100k miles or 7 years, whichever comes first. I've owned 4 Eclipse and 8 Mitsubishi total, great vehicles. Currently own a 3g Spyder GT and my wife has a Eclipse Cross. For Eclipse cars, I've had a 2g, 3g, 4g, 3g in that order, and have done the timing belt /water pump twice on 3g GT/GTS and once on a 4g GT.
usually has a rule of thumb, I would do 100,000 miles, but I also if I remember right for this video, went off of what is in the owners manual. it’s been a while, so I don’t really remember what I said in the video 😅. But you’re right, as a general rule of thumb 100,000 miles should be the interval that you do the timing belt and water pump, especially because those engines are interference engines. sounds like you’ve been in the eclipse family for a long time! It's good to see someone who really enjoys them!
Oh damn! That really sucks! Yeah, unfortunately both the 4G69 and 6G75/79 are all interference engines. That's pretty much all Mitsubishis, from what I've seen. Sorry that happened to you!
So it's a 1hr clip (no royalty) called: Neon Metropolis 1 HOUR MIX #5 FREE USE, No Copyright! Synthwave, New Retro, Outrun!_0u1jq-6-ELk If you search for it on RUclips, you'll find it. I happen to really like it too! Thanks for the compliment and the sub!
Feel the same way about the cross, I won't even use the name eclipse in naming the crossover. It's not an eclipse it's a letdown but a good engine idea
You really gotta hate it when companies pursue market trends above their loyal clientele. I kind of understand it but at the same time nobody asked for an SUV named eclipse
Thanks for the tips I purchased a 2011 gs sport with 150 thousand miles did the water pump and timing chain before it left the dealer the transmission pan is leaking would you happen to know where I can find a part number for the pan
I'm glad I could help! As far as the transmission pan number, you could look it up on a service like Alldata or Chiltons, or you can go to your local Mitsu dealer and go to the parts dept and ask for the specific part number. That would be my recommendation.
The Sylvania ZXE bulbs won't mess with the battery or electrical system. I had those on my Eclipse for 2 yrs with no issue, ad I've put them in all of my carss since, including the T-Bird, as I'm blind as a bat LOL
I would say to have a standard transmission service ($130-230 at Aamco), check the suspension, and then at 75k, I would do a full tune up (Spark plugs, wires, coil packs). Otherwise, you can also look up what the recommended maintenance would be on Alldata or a similar service.
If you had not gotten the timing belt and water pump done by now, I highly recommend that you do it because the 4G69 and the 6G75 are both interference engines and can considerably damage your car. This would necessitate a rebuild or replacement if the belt snaps
My 6g75 manual has been absolutely bulletproof DO THE TIMING BELTS!!!!!! that's the main worry. Oh and I'm also a blind piece of shit. Firehawk l.e.d's is what I run and they are phenomenal
I can't tell ya how many times people don't do the timing belt on Mitsubishi products, and then come complaining to me. It's like "DO YOUR DAMN TIMING BELTS!!", so I totally feel you there. I might be getting a 2007 GS auto next month, as thunderchicken (my 96 T-bird) is killing me on gas, so I might run those headlights in it. Thanks for the idea. I'm blind AF at night, so hopefully that'll help.

Everything you said happened to my 2008, especially the timing belt !

Love this channel! Subbed! What is the music? It is so eclipse feeling.

Did the same thing on the dash, but I used epoxy and it's held for many years so far.
Yeah, they really didn't think it through when they designed the dash, but as long as you can get it to where it needs to be, that's all that matters

If I install those sylvania bulbs will that mess with the battery or draining it?

Also, if my timing belt was done at 55,000 when should I do it next?

What do u recommend for the 4G eclipse at 130k miles as far as timing
