I love walking through the City at night, especially in winter, with nobody else around - the section of the City where 600K people come to work every day has only 10K actual residents, and it's simply magical to walk past St Pauls, down into the City, through streets and alleyways that Dickens would have recognised as ancient, and know that despite the hustle and bustle during the day, at 2am you will not see another human for hours... You got some great shots of London, the best I’ve seen. I used to live at Buckingham Palace, I was a kitchen maid, then coffee room maid in the late 80’s. The little windows at the top are staff accommodation. Never been back to London since, it’s changed a lot in 35 years!

Let me say if you had gone to the other side of the river and walked left along the river to Tower bridge and under the bridg Shad Themes is extreamly lovely with converted spice storage buildings. Shad has great places to eat, Indian, Chinese and posh places to pizza places but Browns is well worth a stop. Love your vids, keep enjoying yourselves.
The Shakespeare is literally opposite Victoria station, I don't know if I'd recommend it myself, if you are in that area I would recommend going to the Bag O' Nails which is just a little bit further down Buckingham Palace Road or The Phoenix on Palace Street behind the shopping arcade on Victoria Street.
“Famous fish and chips” signs in London are like the “best pizza in NY” signs in New York. They’re just a gimmick. Most Brits don’t choose fish and chips in London. The best place to eat them is on the coast.
Sorry, what? As a Londoner, you expect me to get my fish and chips from the coast, 70 odd miles, not from George's fish shop just off of Westminster Bridge Road? They would have been very cold by the time I got them back home for all my family when I was sent out, as a mere ten year old, to buy them on a Friday night! 4 Rock and chips, 3 Cod and chips and 1 Steak and Kidney pie and chips!
A better comment would have been "Most Brits don't choose fish and chips in a pub". As a Londoner, I can assure you we have countless great chippies in London, it's best to leave it to the experts.
Lovely video. I was in London in 2017 and gazed at many of these places. Just one point - you were looking at the Elizabeth Tower. Maybe you heard Big Ben, because it’s the bell that chimes the hours. I’d love to get back to London one more time, but that probably won’t happen.
We plan to go back, and will point out Elizabeth Tower proper next time. We also want to see the actual Big Ben. Maybe to a comparison to the famous cracked bell in our hometown, Philadelphia.
@@SQUEEZEtheDAY That would be a good idea. Is it possible to actually go up into the tower and see the bell? It would be worth finding out. I’m in Australia, and when I was in London in 2017 I did my usual museum and art gallery crawl. If you’re into that sort of thing I thoroughly recommend the British Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum. The BM has lots of really old stuff like the sculptures from the Parthenon in Athens and the Rosetta Stone, and the V&A is a sort of museum of technology. It has an amazing collection of historic clothes, for example. And London has amazing theatre and music venues.
@@johnoleary5293 we love visiting museums, but don't really put them into our videos. We also love looking at architecture but keep that to ourselves too.
For some reason unbeknownst to me as a Londoner, Gatwick, Luton and Stansted, airports that support access to London are not in London but recently rebranded like they are. Whereas Heathrow is in London. Just remember London is so much more than touristy areas. It’s vast and there are many sides to London, from old architecture to modern architecture. It’s a dynamic city that encompasses the old and the new. To understand what I mean, visit the city of London and Canary Wharf. Using the Elizabeth line and other forms of transport to gain access to these areas. I hope you enjoy your visit to London.
The only airport that is actually IN London is the London City, located on what once the King George V Dock. All the others are London adjacent and on the outskirts. In the early days of international travel, the then London airport (now Heathrow) was the one passengers used.
London City Airport really is in London and has great flights to cities on the continent. It’s a single terminal and you can get in and out quickly and easily.
@@welltravelledlife: I hope that it is going to have some long haul flights, particularly to North America, as the airport is so much closer for me in South East London and I could use my free Oystercard to get there.
As you made it to Downing Street, here's a historical tid-bit that links London to New York and the foundation of America. Downing Street is named for George Downing, who was instrumental in the English attack and capture of the Dutch colony of Nieuw Amsterdam in 1664. Which was then renamed New York. And the rest is history, as they say.
Great express tour. Hope you get to see much more of London. The greatest city in the world has so many historical, cultural and scenic places to visit all while soaking up the different vibes in the many different areas of this vast city. London is probably the most culturally diverse city on the planet. Enjoy! Liked and subscribed :)

And if I think back to my own best value back street bistrot experiences, I don't ever remember the menu being in English. We've talked about taking a couple cross-country train trips, but are still working to grow our channel internationally. If you do take a train trip in the US, please let us know. We'd love to hear about it.
Thanks. I'm a native New Yorker and an "older" person and I as wondering what London was like, especially the social life for people 50 and over. One small correction, maybe others have pointed it out. You took a Long Island Rail Road train to Jamaica Station where you boarded the Sky Train to Kennedy Airport. The LIRR is technically a commuter train, not the subway. A lot of what you filmed is around Penn Station and I'm there on the weekend. This looks very recent as a lot of new construction is visible in your video.
We'd recommend London any day. Even talked to a couple New Yorkers who travel there whenever they can. It's a fairly easy flight for going overseas. This was filmed at the end of August 2023. We hope you get to go to London soon.
As a Londoner I don’t like the location of the ”Eye”. It’s a tourist hot spot and the tacky surroundings have ruined what should be a beautiful part of the south bank. Originally it was meant to be moved down river, but hey money speaks so it was mysteriously allowed to remain, what a surprise. Trust you enjoyed your visit, the problem with this city is that it really takes a minimum of 6 months to really begin to appreciate it which just isn’t practical for the average tourist, I’m still discovering my city 20 years on 😂
We typically spend about a month in a location to get to appreciate it better. But that's just a starter. If we can, we'll keep going back to places we love.
You were lucky you picked a Green King Pub, they are a nation wide chain, and some of the chain pubs can be a bit too budget orientated. You will get identical sensibly priced meals in Green King pubs throughout Britain.
But it won't be authentic food, it's a pub chain that serves frozen food. Sadly had you gone to a REAL CHIPPY you would have had authentic FISH and CHIPS like a local for a fraction of the price
Ah, the colonies. Welcome to the mother country, lol :). I did the journey from NYC to JFK in 1992. I think the subway / airport train has received an upgrade.
In this country a building or any structure does not have a ‘backside’! To us that is the part of your anatomy upon which you fall if you slip on a banana skin. I think rear is a more pertinent word. You have like for your warm and involved video from me.
I remember when Mitt Romney was here in I think 2012 being received by the Prime Minister and he spoke about his delight at being able to look from the ‘backside’ of 10 Downing Street. That was but one of the embarrassing errors he made.
For a first time visit? That's a tough question. They each have their good and not-so-good parts. It would depend on what kind of things you prefer to do overall. For plays, events, and people, NY, but for sightseeing, relaxation, and a calm environment, London.
One major difference between UK and USA. While you are allowed to film in most places in the UK, in enclosed spaces if you wish to broadcast any footage you should gain permission to show anyone who is recognisable. Filming in some places could could also be a breach of data protection
@@SQUEEZEtheDAYYou’ll see comments such as “it’s only real fish chips if it’s from the coast”. Others will say you can only get good fish and chips “oop north”. Ignore those - you can get good fish and chips all over the country. The only rule is that you NEVER get it from a pub. -- I would say, however, that pub food has become very good in the last ten years, which is a big change from the old days when pubs were dirty, smelly and often violent places with good beer but terrible food. The one thing they still do badly though is fish and chips because they don’t have the specialist fryer you need.
A double decker train. We don't have them here in the UK, but I did ride the Ontario GoTrain. Didn't get bothered in NYC, yet the propaganda would have you believe that the migrants are practically murdering people. Love NYC and hope for another visit next year.
Welcome for your first time. That awkward lamppost you can delete with something like Photoshop. Expensive food - To eat well, yet more cheaply, you need to go to the suburbs where we LIVE, not touristy places where we pass by. But I think that's true for most of the world. In non-english speaking countries however, this will throw you into the depths of their language, so it's best to ensure you have Google translate with you (although I'm not sure about menus). OK, where to next ?
Thank you. We love going into areas that are populated with more locals than tourists. We have a couple older videos of us doing that. This trip was focused on some more touristy parts but stay tuned. Also, love Google Translate. In picture mode, it will pick up languages that have clear scripts, and sometimes even hand-written scripts can be read. We really used it a lot while we were in SEAsia.
Sadly Fish and Chips in a pub will always be 3rd rate and should be avoided. Shame you didn't visit a proper CHIPPY. Sadly tourists visit these pubs have Poor Quality Food and then say the UK has bad food.
I went from a place in England to NYC in 1992. It was - and remainsr - the only place iin the world I`d seen pizzas as large as truck wheels. Normally we in England ( if I may presume ) would take delivery of a pizza between 10" and 12." I saw pizzas in New York I`d hazard would have been about 24." Possibly 30." Such - I assume - are made to feed those at a weekend party.
Nice video, glossd over so much but with the time available a good 'taster! Nice couple. ne thing so noticeable in the videos made by Americans is the emphasis on FOOD! Lots of it and regularly taken! ALL Americans posting videos like this obviously get very Hungry!
I've noticed some Americans get confused by seeing cyclists in London - even saw one standing in the middle of a bike lane hollering GODDAM A-HOLES at nobody in particular Also had an American asking why I wasn't cycling on the road. I had to point out to him I was in a bike lane 😂
England. you get up in the morning to travel to work it is dark and raining. You get to work you work in the dark. You leave work it is dark and raining. You live your life in the rain and in the dark. What's to like about that?
What about in the spring / summer months, I work permanent night shifts, and it's still light when I go to work and it never really gets dark and its light again 4.30 in the morning.
It's the UK. The overall nation is the UK. Americans only say England. I mean it is but...yeah. Really lovely video. I'd love to have a coffee with you. You should go to London for Christmas (amazing) or summer (beautiful).
There’s an area in the east end called Brick lane.. full of Indian and Pakistani and Bangladeshi restaurants..most will be excellent.. if you go past one and it’s full it’s always a good sign ..😊🇬🇧
They were frozen prepared fish and chips heated up in an oven. Definitely not the best anywhere. As most American tourist only stay in central London it's no wonder British gets a bad rap if you only eat in tourist traps
got this from google so check ok As of summer 2023, the Queen Elizabeth II Tower - better known as Big Ben - is open to the public for tours! This is not up for discussion. You can have opinions about many, many things but not on hard scientific facts. The geographic British Isles (including all the islands of Great Britain and Ireland) are geographically part of the continent of Europe. This is no more a thing you can have an opinion about than the fact that the moon orbits the Earth. And to address your "Brixit" comment below. Firstly, you've misspelled it. It's Brexit. Secondly, that refers to the UK leaving a political body called the European Union. Are you suggesting only countries in the EU can be European? Do you think Norway, Switzerland, Serbia etc are not European? And do you think Poland, Hungary, Romania etc were not European before they joined the EU? In fact, to follow your logic (or lack of it) no European nations could have existed before the 1950s as there was nothing like the EU before that.

Filming in some places could could also be a breach of data protection
well done, most people arriving into London from US fights need a few hours sleep before they can get over the 'jetlag' & on with their sightseeing.
Fish and chips from a pub is not what you need. You need a proper chippy on the coast
We do need a proper chippy.
--
I would say, however, that pub food has become very good in the last ten years, which is a big change from the old days when pubs were dirty, smelly and often violent places with good beer but terrible food.
The one thing they still do badly though is fish and chips because they don’t have the specialist fryer you need.
Keep us posted how you like traveling with just a backpack.
You know we will. Stay safe amigos.
A double decker train. We don't have them here in the UK, but I did ride the Ontario GoTrain. Didn't get bothered in NYC, yet the propaganda would have you believe that the migrants are practically murdering people. Love NYC and hope for another visit next year.
They have double decker trains in the Netherlands too
We hope you get a chance to visit NYC again too. It's a big city and takes a lot of time to see it all.
We'll have to visit the Netherlands soon so we can check them out as well.
Welcome for your first time.
That awkward lamppost you can delete with something like Photoshop.
Expensive food -
To eat well, yet more cheaply, you need to go to the suburbs where we LIVE, not touristy places where we pass by.
Nice video. You're both utterly charming. (Cindy is gorgeous)
Thank you. She is.
The best place to buy fish and chips is in a fish and chip shop.
Thank you!!
The Household Cavalry change every hour when on guard. This is to rest the horses.
Wow. Great info. Thanks.
"We're in London!!!"
*actually in Gatwick* 😂
Hope you love it.
Sadly Fish and Chips in a pub will always be 3rd rate and should be avoided. Shame you didn't visit a proper CHIPPY. Sadly tourists visit these pubs have Poor Quality Food and then say the UK has bad food.
You're right, we need to find a proper Chippy when we come back.
Glad you enjoyed London. I am British you missed the best of our country, you must go out into the other towns and countyside.
We plan to, on future visits. We actually have some friends we'd like to visit in different parts of Great Britain.
Nice couple. ne thing so noticeable in the videos made by Americans
is the emphasis on FOOD! Lots of it and regularly taken!
ALL Americans posting videos like this obviously get very Hungry!
Yes, we love food, especially when traveling. Lol
What you were looking at was the Elizabeth Tower, Big Ben is the bell inside.
I believe there's a free app you can take that post out for your thumbnail...
There is, but it comes out too wonky because of the amount of information in the background that confuses the AI. Thank you.
I've noticed some Americans get confused by seeing cyclists in London - even saw one standing in the middle of a bike lane hollering GODDAM A-HOLES at nobody in particular
Also had an American asking why I wasn't cycling on the road.
That's only in the middle of winter. In summer it's light from 4am to 11pm.
London Gatwick isn't actually in London at all, it's in West Sussex 29 miles away from London, not that it matters to you guys
That's good information, thanks.
It's an AIRPORT that SERVES LONDON with good travel connections.
It's the UK. The overall nation is the UK. Americans only say England. I mean it is but...yeah. Really lovely video. I'd love to have a coffee with you. You should go to London for Christmas (amazing) or summer (beautiful).
England is also a nation.
Americans also mistakenly use the word 'British' as a synonym for English, ignoring the fact that the island is shared by three nations.
Thanks for the invite @JohnnyZenit. We'd love to next time we're in London.
@@jonathanbowen3640 Isn't the point I'm making.
But we could sit down at coffee and you could help us understand it better
Don't get fish n chips from a restaurant ..Go to a proper chippy
Next time.
Big Ben is not a clock tower. It is a bell. The tower is the Queen Elizabeth Tower. By the way the H in Buckingham Palace is silent.
Hope you ate a good Ruby (curry).
No, do you have a recommendation to get one?
There’s an area in the east end called Brick lane.. full of Indian and Pakistani and Bangladeshi restaurants..most will be excellent.. if you go past one and it’s full it’s always a good sign ..😊🇬🇧
@@Ionabrodie69 awesome, thanks.
you didnt see big ben , its the bell inside
Thank you
They were frozen prepared fish and chips heated up in an oven. Definitely not the best anywhere.
As most American tourist only stay in central London it's no wonder British gets a bad rap if you only eat in tourist traps
McDonald's in London
McDonald's in New York
Edit:
It is _not_ pronounced "Calvary"
It _is_ pronounced '_Cavalry_' 😊❤️🖖
Sorry. Thanks for letting me know. I'll work on my pronunciation.
London makes New York look a bit shabby.
I'm sorry to say that you didn't see Big Ben?
... yawn ... we know, but we still call it Big Ben. It's Big Ben.
You may known but they may not?@@thegroovetube3247 🔔
So does everyone in the UK, stop being pedantic tony 🤨@@thegroovetube3247
It seems we only saw The Elizabeth Tower, maybe we'll see Big Ben next time. Thanks.
got this from google so check ok As of summer 2023, the Queen Elizabeth II Tower - better known as Big Ben - is open to the public for tours! These tours take you all the way up the tower, behind the clock faces, and into the belfry to see Big Ben itself. The tour takes 90 minutes and tickets are £24 for adults@@SQUEEZEtheDAY
KFC in London
KFC in New York
Ummm, thats not how you eat a pie. Pick it up and eat it.
No wonder they stop you looking at your beard.
United Kingdom is not in Europe.
Where is it?
Brixit.
We didn't leave the continent 😂
Should really call it United Kingdom not England.
John 11.25-26 Jesus said unto her I AM the resurrection and the life he that believes in me thou he were dead yet shall he live and whosoever lives and belives in me shall never die believest thou this Amen
If only people slowed down a little........l am a Londóner..,.........people seem to go nowhere fast..,.........what is the big deal.............you're a long time dead............
Another cliched vlog, another American couple get ripped off.
You think we're cliched? Thank you. Now we know where to work on the vlog so we can stand out.
Dont take any notice of these arshole trolls, your doing great at ya vlogs
@malcdaley5267 thanks, we actually appreciate the "constructive feedback" 😂
I congratulate you both for not getting stabbed.
We actually feel safe in NYC and London. Don't believe the hype. 99% of the people we meet are amazing, kind people.
Do you live in London?
@@jonathanbowen3640Yes, the South East.
@@markylon I was asking the other guy! But I also live in SE and I don't even think about stabbings. People who comment on london in a negative fashion usually never live there.
PPeter-gx7mg@ you obviously no little about London, lived here for last 87 years never seen stabbing most occur in gangs concerning drugs and young yobs
