There's something about listening to Bach with closed eyes, picking out all the parts and hearing them 'speak' to one another - I think praising in their own ways - I get completely lost in the beauty of it.....then I open my eyes and remember this is just one man playing all these parts. Thank you, Lord for the combination of Bach's music, the sound of this organ and Gert's (and his brilliant team's) wonderful skill in bringing a special joy to his audience. Thank you Gert and Dick!
Music can be cathartic and Gert’s music is a healing therapy that reaches out to our hearts. Thank you so much for this beautiful Prelude and Fugue today. You and Dick are such a good team. Bach is smiling again.

Vous exprimez ce qu'il y a de plus juste en écoutant cette merveilleuse partition de JS Bach. Je suis un inconditionnel de ce compositeur que je considère comme le plus grande tous. Son répertoire est d'une richesse spirituelle absolument fantastique et nombreux sont les interprètes organistes ou pianistes (transcription de Liszt) qui ont donné de cette merveilleuse partition une version magnifique. Très difficile de faire son choix car chacun y met sa sensibilité personnelle devant ce chemin qui mène à l'éternité croyants ou pas.

Very fine performance. So few organists have the ability to clearly phrase the dialogue of the responsive parts while still maintaining a 'long line' to delineate the larger structure of the piece. Then there are those whose technical competence, especially in pedalling, tempts them to run away with the tempo of the fugue. By starting more modestly (registration) and with a slightly relaxed tempo, you give the fugue more space to bloom and develop organically (oops, sorry).
Anyway, well done !

beste Gert,waar moet ik deze muziek onderscharen,is dit zwaar,muziek,of licht,in het verleden,heb jij me uitgelegd wat een toccata is,waarvan dank,,wat betekent Prelude en Fugue ?,dank

Dit heb ik gevonden: 'Een preludium (ook wel prelude of Vorspiel) is een instrumentale compositie zonder vaste vorm, meestal als introductie op een groter werk. Een fuga is een compositie waarin dezelfde melodische frase beurtelings in alle (drie of vier) stemmen van de compositie klinkt. Er is dus sprake van imitatie.'
J.S. Bach heeft een groot aantal Preludiums & Fuga's geschreven. Gewoonlijk hebben beide delen een ander thema; toch sluiten ze uitstekend op elkaar aan en blijft de toonsoort (vrijwel altijd) hetzelfde. Of het zware of lichte muziek is laat ik over aan de luisteraar en zijn/haar persoonlijke smaakontwikkeling. Voor mij is deze magistrale muziek 'licht' en verfrissend voor het gehoor, en toch ook vol diepte, kracht, kleur en rijkdom voor zowel het oor als het hart. Luister ook naar de vele lieflijke koralen die deze componist gecomponeerd heeft, en je zult ontdekken wat een rijke variatie aan klank en karakter er in deze muziek schuilt.
