Displaced Palestinians return to examine destroyed homes and businesses in Jabalia

“We have nothing left to cry over.”
Following the withdrawal of the Israeli military on Friday, displaced Palestinians returned to their destroyed homes and businesses in northern Gaza’s Jabalia camp after a 20-day invasion by the Israeli army.
Hakam al-Balaawi, a shop owner in Jabalia, said they had been told to evacuate the Jabalia camp and what they found upon their return was “all this destruction”. He added that Israel had “waged a war” on their “businesses, children, livelihood, and everything”.
The Jabalia refugee camp has been under relentless attacks following an invasion by Israeli soldiers over the past three weeks, which has caused the displacement of thousands of Palestinians and left severe destruction across the camp.
