    I once met RB Fans in the train and chatted a bit with them, they said this Club is despite its business model quiet attractive for people from their region out of the simple fact that you cant go to the other clubs watching football with your Kids, because the Fan Culture there is, lets say problematic. Its no place you wanna spend your Saturday afternoon with your family, RB is.

      So its basically importing a consumerism aspect to beeing a football fan. We are not interested in that in the slightest and you also have some antifa freaks on red bull away games which behave quite violently so... no

      That view is mostly deluded though. East German football has changed since most RB fans came into contact with it and became fans. If they do ever go to any East German clubs, they experience hostility against themselves and their club. But you can go to Magdeburg as a Magdeburg fan, or Dynamo as a Dynamo fan without problems, even as a visiting fan. 20 years ago, 15 years ago etc. Many clubs in East Germany were very violent and had lots of hooligan problems, they are mostly gone by now. There are lots of families at games of Dynamo Dresden or Energie Cottbus, or FC Magdeburg or Carl Zeiss Jena or Wismut Aue, and there are no problems, plus there you'll see actual fans.

    There is one thing people always oversee. This company did not want to help East German football, and they didn't. They damaged it's name. They wanted to buy Fortuna Düsseldorf and St.Pauli the way they bought Austria Salzburg in Salzburg, and changed their hundred year history in minutes with changing the colors, crest and name. Imagine Manchester United being bought and all of a sudden being renamed to Monster Manchester and the colors being changed to Black and green, and the crest being replaced with a Monster M. How would they feel? This predatory mindset is what led Red Bull to want to buy a club in Germany. First they actually looked in the west, before moving east because the market was bigger there for Football clubs, since the actual Eastern German football clubs sadly were in a bad state at that time, many in the regional league or lower level professional football. They wanted to buy a club, and make a Red Bull Düsseldorf, but couldn't since the clubs refused. They didn't even find a big club in the East, which had fans and a history that they could buy, so they bought a tiny team in the low-low levels of German football and bought it up, constantly way outspending their competition especially in the lower leagues, their move to the first division was incredibly easy, and through all of that they were despised by both east and west. It was a pure marketing move. Now, for another story, the fans of Austria Salzburg created their own Club, Austria Salzburg. It is bit by bit climbing through the leagues in Austrian football, honestly and with grass-roots. Many Eastern German clubs are having the same thing happen now. Union Berlin, completely grass-roots made it to the first division in 2019, Magdeburg went up from the regional division in 2015 to the third division, then stayed there for a while and now is in the second division since 2022 and is currently looking good in the table. Hansa Rostock and Dynamo Dresden both are still in the third division, but had been in the second division for a couple seasons, and their games are well-attended and the fans are crazy good. This is the real Eastern German Football, fans from a second division team coming to Berlin with 25,000 fans or to Cologne with 15,000, this is something RB will never be able to do.
    Sorry for writing an essay but people really need to get the whole picture about why we hate this "club"

    You should check out the Alfred-Kunze-Sportpark of Chemie Leipzig. A fan founded Club based of the old Chemie Leipzig, what was called Sachsen Leipzig bevor they got into bankrupcy. Chemie started in the lowest tier and now are in the 4th Division we're they play their arch rivals Lok Leipzig. The only two clubs that are important in Leipzig.

    • @SvenTeresniak
      @SvenTeresniak 5 месяцев назад

      Also check the history of BSG Chemie Leipzig. GDR Politicians in high positions and a huge company (Kabelwerke) backed the team with money, privileges and so on. Almost no other amateur club in the 1960s had this kind of backup. In some sort, BSG and around 10 other clubs established professional football in the GDR. That is, bought or "delegated" the best players from amateur clubs to the few clubs with mighty political and financial backup.
      Hansa Rostock is also an artificial football club. Almost the entire team "Empor Lauter" was relocated *during a running football season* from Saxony to Rostock, just because some politicians wanted a club in the north of the GDR. Team and staff was lured to Rostock by giving them privileges, apartments, money, etc. That's why Hansa Rostock is also called "The Traitors of Empor Lauter". Today, Hansa Rostock is thinking they invented fair play in football.

    Fun Fact: I was in Leipzig with my (western) football team for a tournament and we visited the old Leipzig stadion. No security at all, we were able to go on the pitch and kick some balls - unthinkable in western Germany even at that time already, but east was enjoying the absolute freedom.
    I hate RB and the business approach the sponsor has, but I admire how the build the new stadion really inside of the old (the stairways outside are from the old stadion) and I plan to go there when my club (FC St. Pauli) will have its Bundesliga away game - also because I look foreward to a weekend in Leipzig which is probably the most open city of eastern Germany. But kicking in that stadium is a moment I will never forget (yes, I am old now, but still passionate)
    PS: Yes, the lower capacity for international matches has to do with standing, usually in newer stadiums (like I know it from Hamburg, the build the stadion with a ground that can be flipped up and convert into metal seats. Not 100% sure for Leipzig, but that is the way they do it Hamburg, they just "lift" the ground floor and it becomes seats.

      The only reason Bayern get's disliked here in Germany is the same reason like ManUnited in England, Real Madrid in Spain or Juventus in Italy, success. And here in Germany people get very jealous very fast if you gain any form of success. Leipzig is hated by everyone cause they were founded simply as a pure marketing club for the Red Bull energy drink. And pre 2009 the Red Bull Company already had destroyed an austrian traditional club with Austria Salzburg.
