  • When learning how to be a ninja, you must learn how to use the ninja sword. You must also learn how to use the ninjato vs. the katana sword. The ninja sword is called the ninjatō (Japanese: 忍者刀), or shinobigatana (Japanese: 忍刀), and is said to be the preferred weapon of the ninja in feudal Japan.
    .
The Ninja Fighting Technique demonstrated in this video comes from the Togakure Ryu Ninpo Taijutsu Training. This technique is called Muso-no-Ken and is a method that the ninja uses the shinobigatana, to bait the opponent into a position, so that the ninja can attack and evade quickly to safety.
    .
The art of handling the ninjato is called many names such as: kenjutsu, iaijutsu, tojutsu, ninja biken and bikenjutsu.
    .
This lesson is directly for those training in the traditional Japanese martial arts and self-defense techniques of the ninja and samurai, such as ninjutsu (ninpo) and bujutsu (budo).
