    I'm currently enrolled in a statistics class and am struggling. Normal distribution was the easiest part that I understood but almost immediately after, have gotten lost in the following material. I've found your lectures just yesterday and will be investing a lot of time viewing these videos as I've already learned something new from two videos I've watched. Your approach is very similar to my professor's, as she is very good, but with your videos you do dumb it down which is in some aspects, necessary. I'm relieved that I've come across your videos. Thank you for making them available to the public.

    Thank you so much for the stats series! The school I attend has a relatively awful math department, and often times students here pay money to teach themselves course material. I am so happy that you have decided to make these videos available to students of all ages everywhere! These first couple videos were just what I needed, as my stats teacher neglected to explain any of the terminology at all, and jumped right into stem/leaf plots, standard deviation, and the rule of fives in the first lecture. It's a basic stats class (251), so none of us knew what was going on at all! I have already started recommending these videos to fellow nursing students and friends, as well as other people in math classes ranging from algebra to calc. Everyone that has looked into them has found them very helpful and better than most of the lectures we get. Thank you so much! You've saved a ton of students butts here! All of us are so grateful to have your help.

    I love this stuff and your way of teaching this stuff. "I must go on . . ." In just these lectures you have shown me that learning 'statistics' is not an alien encounter. You simply start with an understanding of why it is 'statistics' and its purpose. For me, the vocabulary and definitions did the trick. Thank you. I DON'T have a statistics example coming up -- but, "I must go on" with your Statistics Lectures. Thanks to you, my mathematical confidence is growing and I don't want it to stop.

      Get the vocab down, there are a lot of really subtle but important differences to various equations, some of it may even seem redundant at first but it will make sense later.
      Really get a hold of the concepts too, like that the Z-score(or standard score) is the number of standard deviations a value is away from the mean. It will help you with word problems and visualizing the data.
      It can be a really fun class, I didn't know there was so much you could extrapolate on data. If you're into histograms and confidence intervals, you'll love it.

    Colors are additive to create new colors. Ask a lighting director. It takes three lights to create white light. Not the same for paint. In paint, and dyes, the pigments combine. The human eye only sees the color that is NOT there. A light source is absorbed by all the colors in the pigments, reflecting back to your eye only the pigment that is not there.

    I hate to say this, but you CAN subtract color from color and get a different color,,, In Fact, my cosmetology taught me how to do hair color using an algebraic system of addition, subtraction and equations. One CAN subtract blue from green and be left with yellow. You can subtract yellow from orange and be left with red... so this color example, I do not think can be put in an ordinal category if you are trying to say that one cannot be subtracted from the other. ALL hair color that a cosmetologist uses are numbered. For instance, there is 1-11Red, 1-11Brown, 1-11Blonde, etc.

    • @jesusinme3712
      @jesusinme3712 7 лет назад

      The differences in color ARE meaningful and can also be categorized by orders. Also, my bank account can go into a negative status. So, some of these examples are kind of confusing for me. I have had down to negative $300 in my bank account before. One slight drop of color can change the entire desired outcome results into a totally different result... I think that means A LOT ;) There are scales in colors and tones.

    • @alesjanecek9856
      @alesjanecek9856 4 года назад

      Yes it can be substracted, but as long as you care about visible color, the difference doesnt tell you anything. Visible spectrum is ~380nm (purple) - ~740nm (red). If you substract purple form red ie 740-380=360 (lets say its visible purple), you would be saying purple is purple away from red. Doesnt make much sense.
