    Thanks again.

They are like math lawyers. How can we make it so the masses can't understand what we are doing . Excellent.
And schools have the audacity to demand teaching degrees when half the teachers are useless. I had a qualified teacher in high school biology. aka - alcoholic. He just turned off the lights and played films everyday.

One important point on median, which was not discussed here.
While ignoring outliers, another really important property of median is that it does not change actual values, if you use a slightly alternative way of computing it. That is, given even number of values, you don't take a mean of those two, but simply pick either by random, always choose lower/upper or whatever, depending on problem at hand. The usefulness of this method is that then you never produce values that are _not_ in the actual sample (like mean, which often produces fractions when samples are integers).
This is very useful in several computer engineering problems, like image processing/filtering.

    Three ways to describe CENTER:
+ Mean: arithmetic average  add all the values and divide by the number of values you added
    Mean = (∑▒x)/(# of values) ( ∑▒x = sum, x = data value)
    n: # of items in a sample
    N: # of items in a population
    Sample mean = X ̅
    Population mean = µ
+ Median: the middle value of a data set
*must be in order (we have to organize our data)
Then, find the middle value: 1) if odd number of values  middle number 2) if even number of values  the average of the two middle numbers (e.g: 1 3 4 5 6 7  4.5)
Outliers: those values that are two far away from the middle and excluded
 The mean is not affected by the outliers, but the median is
+ Mode: the most commonly occuring data value
    e.g: 5.40 1.10 0.40 3.32 0.40 5.40 2.56 0.40  mode: 0.40
    1 2 4 7 11 21 30  mode: Ø
Rounding rules: 1) always round a number to one decimal more than what is given (e.g: 1 3 4 5 6 7 (0 decimal)  4.5 (1 decimal)) 2) never round until the very end of the problem
