A feature that I use quite often and wasn't mentioned (or maybe I missed it?) is a task that can't be marked as done - just start it with an asterisk followed by a space. Useful for headers, section titles etc.
Great series, Carl! I've actually updated my Todoist setup according to your tips and I love it so far. Thanks!
Hi, Martin, you didn't miss it. I did not include it because I always think that is a more advanced task trick.
Good luck with the system - I hope it works well for you.
Just subscribed because your "Back To Basics" series is one of the best I've seen when it comes to learning the "nuts and bolts" of something. I've been struggling with Todoist for a while now (and task management in general) but this was great! I learned a ton here - so much value. Well done Carl.
Thank you, Rob. So happy to hear you got a lot out of the videos. 🤗👍
great tip for adding several tasks at once!!!
Thanks Carl!
It,s very good. So I bought your book!
Thank you, Oleg. Really happy you found it useful and thank you for buying the book :-)
I recently discovered your channel and am just binge-watching all the episodes on Todoist. You're doing awesome work! Being able to import tasks from text files is a huge game changer for me. However, is it also possible to format an item on the list so that it gets imported as a sub task?
Ooh, never thought of that one. I'll have to do some investigating. Very happy to hear you learning a lot about the awesome Todoist. 😃
Have you created anything on using Todoist with teams and doing project management in a group? I'm thinking I'd like to consolidate all my task management stuff in to ONE tool, but I'm still on the fence and would love to see how you use Todoist with your team, if, in fact, you do.
Not a complete episode yet, Rob. I did do a basic video a couple of years ago on this. It might help. I will add it to the list of future episodes and update it soon. ruclips.net/video/C_axsIKf8Dk/видео.html
Another Awesome Episode. Keep them coming :)
Thanks Jerry 😀
Thanks Carl, Emoji so simple
You're welcome, Nick
These videos have been great! Thanks
Glad to have been of service :-)
Carl Pullein I saw one of your videos talking about you living in Korea. I have had the same problem learning Tagalog in the Philippines. Good luck learning another language.
Super great info! Thanks!
You're very welcome, Valerie. 😀
You are in excelent shape, Carl. Not only in productivity sense but also in physical )
hahaha thank you :-)
Carl Pullein those trap muscles 💪
The syntax for the custom query is the same as in filters. When I tried to get my perfect custom query, I made a filter and tried to get the filter right - changing the filter and testing it is much faster than changing the custom query, saving, exit settings, click the button, get an error, open settings again...
True. As I don't mess around with my 'dashboard' I haven't changed it for a very long time.
Carl: You mention links (Hypertext) in the video, but I did not catch the steps. Can you direct me to where I can learn more about this feature. Thanks!
Hi Anne, Here's the link to the episode I did on this for you :-) goo.gl/k3zkMw
Hey Carl, great video - as always! One question regarding "hyperlinks as tasks": Why doesn't show Todoist the link with a special format (underlined) or symbol (like when I put an email out of outlook as a task, a little envelope appears). It would be easier to see, which tasks are links... did I miss something? - Perhaps this is a question for the developers, but thanks for your (or anyones) ideas and possible workarounds :D - Christopher
+Christopher Berndt / Hi Christopher, if you linking Evernote to Todoist the Evernote logo should appear on the left of the task. Can’t remember if it’s underlined or not, but as soon as I pass my curser over it, it’s clear it’s a hyperlink. - hope that helps. 😎
Thanks for the quick answer, Carl! I don't use evernote... I meant, when I add a website as task via the browser plugin. But it seems that this is not marked specifially. Thanks for your help!
Why are you using p:inbox, instead of #inbox ?
Hahaha legacy habit, Adam. I've been using filters a long time. p:inbox was once the best way to get your inbox showing. 😉
