First off let’s just appreciate the amount of times Sarah has gotten out of the car to film 😂 great video guys!!! I’m also certain those trees you’re talking about are called Pandanus. There are different types however usually you can tell if there has been a recent fire by seeing how far down the tree skirts are burnt off. (That’s if it is the tree I’m thinking of) safe travels!!

    Epic stuff, guys
re the fishing the best tip I can give you Keelan, what makes the average fisherman average eg don't catch fish even at the secret spots!
You are fishing at the wrong time of day, esp if its a sunny day, # 1 you need to be on the water early or late, when fish feed..! #2 scope out a spot, look at the water surface, what bugs are floating on the surface, eg you are trying to see what is the local food source for the fish. Same in the water if you can when its safe, try to find on the bottom, what type of foods grow there that fish feed off. Your lure is designed to mimic those food sources, if you have a lure that is close or is what they feed off it will increase your chances. But you wont or rarely catch fish after feeding times and in bright light they can see you long before you can see them, why sometimes you will catch fish wrong time of day on a cloudy day.
ps Love my icheck deflators. Keep a rocking guys that rock pool cliff zone was amazing btw.

When you watch the footage of the 79, there's zero drive occurring at the front axle.
She's either not engaged 4x4 at transfer case or not engaged front hubs to lock, it's an old school 4x4.
I'm betting on the second outcome as I'm pretty sure Keelan would have spotted 4x4 not engaged.

Not sure if you noticed but the front wheel hubs was not engaged as they was not turning ! That played a big factor of being stuck ! They may have had the in cab shifter in 4wd however with that model they need to get out and turn the center nut in the front hubs to lock !

Hot tip for barra fishing with lures. Barras are lazy predators, so they wait in ambush for their prey. Generally they will not pursue a fast moving lure. Fishing with an egg-beater a retrieval rate of one hand crank revolutions per second. Also try this: a slow retrieve stop slow retrieve stop.

30:35 sorry to rain on the parade, those drawings, and spit art, are quite modern when it comes to long arm weapons. Just more grievance and victimhood by the elite TOs - they produce tourist traps.
In the early 90's I had a White Card (a pun from TOs) that allowed me to travel anywhere in the NT, without any permits, except for the White Card. There is much art that has been added and painted over. Tourists get to 'see' those bits. The originals have often disappeared, but photographs exist from the late 1800's.
The Petroglyphs are immutable and really tell the stories.
    Cheers,
    Stu

  • @stuartkcalvin
    @stuartkcalvin 11 месяцев назад

30:45 that's a valid observation. It stems from "what is different is dangerous". This is a hind brain issue. Before retiring at night, our cave dwellers and open plain dwellers would look at the terrain and get a better than good gist on their surroundings. If things were different in the morning, then something may be wrong - a lion has flattened the grass? Lying in wait?
The Australian Army follows this practice and sends out a clearing patrol at dusk and an other before sunrise, looking for changes. All good soldiers, from whatever country, will do this. Nothing has changed in that regard; although there are drones, they can't pick up mines, trip flares and fixed-line machine guns - infantry are the boots on the ground. Humans have always done the job on the ground.

I reckon the question should have been... 'What do you mob use to catch Barramundi?' I bet they're laughing at your lure tackle box.... just saying 🤣
PS I was told, just recently (can't believe it took me till my 50's to learn this) but Australia rock art that's not protected by caves will cease to be in the next 50 or so years. Apparently, each tribe would re-scratch, re-paint their mob's rock art as they migrated through the seasons. Now, people don't remember whose rock art is whose, so not wanting to upset each other they've stopped updating these precious art pieces that tell the story of life in Dreamtime to life as custodians of country to a conquered people... and onwards.. It's incredibly sad.
