If it’s either one of those first two, my money is on them engineering the whole thing, which would be worthy of a tip of the hat. Especially since it would mean they played all of us perfectly and likely would be the first and only time it will ever happen on TTC. That in itself would be worth gold to them in bragging rights over the competition, being able to penetrate a market that was otherwise impossible to reach. Just pulled out a DCF900 today to drive 12 foot lag rods into the clay soil for tomato stakes. 1" socket out them 6 feet down in no time. It's a mean bastard of an impact.
It would be awesome if this was a flex volt tool and performance increase a lot with higher voltage. If gearing is really the same but rpm is down due to brushless motor being bigger and needing more volts to reach 2k+
Any idea what kind of sockets you'd need to put up with this? My Ridgid is already pretty brutal on sockets when working on really tight stuff, can't imagine what that much extra oomph would do to them. That's why I have to agree that a 3/4 anvil makes more sense, spread that force over a much larger surface area.
impact socket is all there is to it. like the guy said, with a lifetime warranty. DONT use shiny socket, they grenade on you with this level of violence
Id just stock up on some cheap impacts, like the HF or Husky when they come on sale. I suppose you could go with Sunex and see if they will warranty a worn out socket, but idk
@@coltonjacobs5383 If you plan on using impact sockets for the next 20-30 years, get some tool truck sockets. I'm still using a Snap-On impact socket set from '98!
I own every red fuel tool. But because of TTC I have my first dewalt. Dcf923b it’s sweet. I think this (when released) beast will be my next. Thanks a lot TTC! more tools I really don’t need.
Dcf923 was my first DeWalt tool ever purchased too (quickly followed by a DCF900)! just a few days ago, also thanks to TTC. Been team red for over 20 years, but really disappointed at their choices the past few years, and impressed more by DeWalt than anyone else on the market right now. If Milwaukee doesn't lose customers, they won't change. 🤷🏼♂️
Hope this comes out soon with a 3/4" anvil. I love my 899 for most jobs around the farm, but I have to put a 3/4" adapter on it for the tractor lug bolts and a bunch of other big ugga dugga nuts/bolts. This would go nicely with all my other DeWalt torque guns.
Agreed. If a snap-on 550ftlb impact will strip lug studs, there's no need for more until going 3/4" drive or larger. Anyone who uses impacts on the daily will know.
I want one in 3/4 or 1". Somehow I manage to find myself working on forklifts and bulldozers and far too often I come across nuts that just laugh at my current options and I use my hot wrench instead, plus even at 8lbs it's lighter than my 3/4" air impact. Put a 3" socket and adapter on the end of that beast and it doesn't take long for your arm to start screaming at you.
For the unprepared (like me), the kick-back from this is going to break my wrists!!! But I like the honest numbers you have from it but hey! The manufacturers marketing departments are NEVER going to be honest about performance, are they?
Unless they come to some sort of honest rating gentlemen's agreement, any company that chooses to advertise their lower, accurate output numbers will be chosing to lose sales to uninformed buyers. We're all subscribed to this channel, so we're fairly well informed, but anyone else that just runs in to their local big box store is likely going to shop by brand or the numbers on the box. It's basically just a rating arms race at this point.
@@HashbrownBandit Yep, just like it used to be with HP ratings on small engines and electric motors on consumer goods. Like the "5 hp" compressors that are really around 3.5 or the push mowers with "6hp" engines that are really 4 at the most. Marketing had some interesting testing methods....
No they wouldn’t. Because every cheapo brand will just lie and steal sales from the average uninformed. We see the same with everything. Cars lying about 0-60, internet speeds quoted in megabits rather than megabytes, flash light lumens ratings etc
That is a monster fitting the name. There is no sane reason to pack so much torque in such a small package. This thing, whoever makes it, will give the whole industry a kick in the groin and a bonk on the head.
I hope Dewalt does release this model this year. Just add a 15 Ah battery, and it would easily be the best 1/2" cordless impact. Release it in 3/4" as well and add a removable side handle, and it will dominate them as well.
Just when we thought the 891 was a monster then they bring this out😱😱😱😱. My daily is the 921 . I wouldn't mind having this for the larger bolts I deal with
Wondering if you'll ever get the new Metabo ssw 18 ltx 1750 bl. Obviously the proper dark green German model.... thats claiming 1450nm or 2100nm nut busting torque....looks a beast though that's 3/4 drive.
I prey they make it a 3/4 I’m a mobile tech for a trucking company and I have destroyed a few 1/2 sockets doing rusty tires with my Dcf900. I can only imagine what this thing would do to them.
Having worked at a Honda dealership in the rust belt region of the US, I 110% appreciated that mention of the Honda crank bolts. What I would've given to have had an impact like this back then, lol. The Snap-On cordless impact I had at the time was powered by a Ni-Cad battery 🤣. There were lug nuts it couldn't handle, let alone one of those God forsaken crank bolts.
Biggest rip ever is the older SnapOn battery tools. They're toys compared to what Milwaukee was putting out at the time. But now it seems DeWalt is the name to beat. And yeah, the only bolt my M18 high torque couldn't handle was the infamous Honda crankshaft bolt. 😢 I wonder if my new dcf900 would handle?
@bluedistortions hard facts, lol. I destroyed the hammer on mine after about a year and a half of usage. Switched to DeWalt and never looked back. Yeah, I'm also curious whether these newer models could break a Honda crank bolt free. Would be a game changer!
that extra kick 4 seconds in reminds of the newer brushless Makita saws, maybe only reversed?. I own 3, the 7 1/4" and the 6 1/2", wood saw, and the 5 7/8" metal saw. They have a high speed and high torque mode which the tool decides as your using it. Its high speed first then as the load gets higher, it goes to high torque mode. Pretty neat function. It would definitely be a cool function on impacts.
Dewalt is severely lacking in the 3/4 department compares to what Milwaukee currently has out. Just had the tool guy at my work do a demo on the two 3/4 impact guns. hopefully this would replace the current 3/4 option.
I have a sneaky suspicion that if/when the release model drops, testing it will show why this one was a prototype. Even if it's just upping it from a 1/2 inch!
A company like SB&D wouldn’t “leak” a tool like that. Either it’s field prototype that is being tracked, or it’s the best knock off “fan fiction” driver ever.
I love the bigger Hammer design. Cuz in the real world the impact of one-hit matters a lot! because if you don't move anything with the one-impact you'll never loosen anything!
It sure beats the ole "4 foot pipe on a 3 foot breaker bar, jump on it until you come crashing down" method. Also those stronger thumps would have to be better on breaking down rust. And the bonus: it tries to loosen the nut reasonably.. before breaking stuff.
Phenomenal. I can’t wait to see how hikoki it’s not even hit mhpt press releases yet upcoming high torque release fares against this i think it’s rated at 1600 N as well and ip56 rated. Hikoki has some great stuff just wish it was all available stateside, but phenomenal work boys..The one time I didnt cared to watch a RUclips ad was halfway this video lol…Again Well done TTC & of course dewalt as theyve stepped it up this year maybe more than ever for the mechanics out there
Which battery is best in the Milwaukee high torque I have both the 6 and 8 high outputs. Some say the 6 is better than the 8 and I would tend to agree as the lower amp hr on the same number of cells means the cells are higher rated discharge.
Also I have yet to use the 900s. Full beans. But I’ll be giving away the 900 and getting this as soon as I can. Why? I Don’t know. I don’t have a rational reason as to why.
Do you think the bigger batteries help dampen the rotational forces? If so, wouldnt that also transmit more of that rotational force to the fastener? Would be interesting to see a 5ah vs a 5ah with a 2 lb weight mounted to the bottom of the battery. And then of course 8ah with weights, using a weighted socket. For science n stuff.
Another thought is breakaway torque. When you do the loosening from a certain torque you might want to not use your test setup because of the hydraulic pressure you do have some crush. A nut or a bolt flat up against a solid metal surface would give a better idea I think for speed on breakaway torque
Not happy with my R86211. Died in 13months. Mostly used it for sedans and 1/2 ton truck lugnuts. Not easy dealing with the “Lifetime service Agreement” and 3yr warranty either.

sure it's powerful. but we've gotten to a point where I can snap 5/8in bolts with a basic 1/2 impact. I can remove lug nuts with a 1/4in impact driver. i'd much rather durability and longevity over raw power at this point.
I work on large old Caterpillar tractors... THIS IS WHAT I NEED! lol If I have to suspend it from a crane I will, because I need the crane to lift the bolt out afterwards anyway!

@@deezelfairy warranty is a beautiful thing
I am so Hyped! Ketchup coming soon I hope
This must be what all those other tire shops are putting locked lug nuts on with before throwing away the key
Just pulled out a DCF900 today to drive 12 foot lag rods into the clay soil for tomato stakes. 1" socket out them 6 feet down in no time. It's a mean bastard of an impact.
Wonder if the 961 could be part of the Power Detect line?
Can't wait to see what it can do with a 6 or 8 ah battery.
It would be awesome if this was a flex volt tool and performance increase a lot with higher voltage. If gearing is really the same but rpm is down due to brushless motor being bigger and needing more volts to reach 2k+
Yeah this thing on 60v would be nuts.
Maybe it's flexvolt capable? Can't wait for the more battery video they are going to do!
I mean something that big would only excel with 60v batteries.
Ones with a lifetime warranty..
impact socket is all there is to it. like the guy said, with a lifetime warranty.
At these forces, you'd be stupid not to get tool truck insta swap warranties.
Mac or snappy.
Seems like massive overkill for a 1/2”. Most bolts that would fit into the 1/2” drive socket size are going to die at this kind of torque.
Agreed. If a snap-on 550ftlb impact will strip lug studs, there's no need for more until going 3/4" drive or larger. Anyone who uses impacts on the daily will know.
I think is will he more specific for more heavy duty nuts and other heavy duty things
Love the new dewalt content you guys keep posting. The research you all are doing is amazing. Love all the content brothers!
DeWALT’s been killing the impact game recently. Ya live to see it.
@@HashbrownBandit This is 100% accurate
It's getting to the point where impacts will have to come with bolt stretch meters.
What I hear you saying is not to limp wrist DeWalt impacts to get the max out 💁🏼♂️
Great video 👍🏻
Milwaukee R&D feverishly working away. That is a beast. Size torque and weight
that extra kick 4 seconds in reminds of the newer brushless Makita saws, maybe only reversed?.
I wonder if it's 1/2" just because they wanted it to be tested by a wider group without requiring them to have 3/4 drive tools?
That's a good point
3/4 drive sets are really pricey, that would make sense. I have like 2 sockets... one for duramax half-shaft nuts and one for the duramax crank bolt.
That "turbo" is battery management. Longer battery life when you're only drawing half the power for applications that don't need the full beans
Dewalt is severely lacking in the 3/4 department compares to what Milwaukee currently has out. Just had the tool guy at my work do a demo on the two 3/4 impact guns. hopefully this would replace the current 3/4 option.
With the DCF961 every day is bicep day.
I have a sneaky suspicion that if/when the release model drops, testing it will show why this one was a prototype. Even if it's just upping it from a 1/2 inch!
I wonder what’s going to happen to the person brave enough to use a silver socket on this beast?
Wear a face shield and flak jacket.
They get to meet Jesus😂
An impact with VTEC
It's the best thing since sliced bread for anyone with a box of spare wrists.... I'll stick to my AirCat! Only the wrench holding wrist gets broken.
Phenomenal. I can’t wait to see how hikoki it’s not even hit mhpt press releases yet upcoming high torque release fares against this i think it’s rated at 1600 N as well and ip56 rated. Hikoki has some great stuff just wish it was all available stateside, but phenomenal work boys..The one time I didnt cared to watch a RUclips ad was halfway this video lol…Again Well done TTC & of course dewalt as theyve stepped it up this year maybe more than ever for the mechanics out there
Forget putting a model number on this they should just call it Mjölnir lol 😂
i work oil field on equipment that has seen better days , if that tool can fit where I need it I will for sure be using this beast.
*pokes milwaukee with a stick* come on do something
Which battery is best in the Milwaukee high torque I have both the 6 and 8 high outputs. Some say the 6 is better than the 8 and I would tend to agree as the lower amp hr on the same number of cells means the cells are higher rated discharge.
6ah is best
Man my notification bell on a Friday is the most anticipated notification hands down form TTC and im from a little island in the Caribbean lol TNT 😉
Also I have yet to use the 900s. Full beans.
But I’ll be giving away the 900 and getting this as soon as I can. Why? I Don’t know. I don’t have a rational reason as to why.
We're in your camp
May I have the 900?lol
Do you think the bigger batteries help dampen the rotational forces? If so, wouldnt that also transmit more of that rotational force to the fastener? Would be interesting to see a 5ah vs a 5ah with a 2 lb weight mounted to the bottom of the battery. And then of course 8ah with weights, using a weighted socket. For science n stuff.
I need that for use in the repair of laptop computers.
Cellphones and tablets. :)
Dear DeWalt,
WHEN are you going to release a CORDLESS Siding/Fencing Nailer?!?
Another thought is breakaway torque. When you do the loosening from a certain torque you might want to not use your test setup because of the hydraulic pressure you do have some crush.
A nut or a bolt flat up against a solid metal surface would give a better idea I think for speed on breakaway torque
You're totally correct. We dont normally show it, but thought it might demonstrate the difference here in another way
Why the yellow plastic color is not the same ?
One is used
Those dam Honda Crank bolts be afraid! I would have loved to seen a 8ah battery test cheers
Excellent video! we need @ shootout between this dewalt and the rigid R86211 👍
Not happy with my R86211. Died in 13months. Mostly used it for sedans and 1/2 ton truck lugnuts. Not easy dealing with the “Lifetime service Agreement” and 3yr warranty either.
@TorqueTestChannel I found one for sale on a chinese website! (a scam maybe???), the link won't post so you'll have to copy/paste this into google:
二手 最新款 得偉 DEWALT DCF 961 18V 20V 無刷 1600nm 899 900升級版 強力型
It should be the first thing to come up. I'll try post the link in reply to this comment.
No luck with the link. I've done a few experiments including google homepage, and youtube just deletes every comment that includes a link.
Finally, an impact driver that can dislocate my shoulder and put it back by rotating it a full 360 degrees!
Hey beans team
I have a just recently released metabo
SSW 18LTX 800BL that is just begging to have itself tested on your channel.
Metabo claims 800nm tightening and 1200nm nut busting if you want to put those figures to the test. I also have the as yet not in America SSW 18LTX 1750BL l, metabos new 3/4" hi torque that you may want to test as well!
Oh dang, I've been talking to a couple outlets to see if they have the new 3/4" ssw 18 ltx 1750 bl yet. Where you located? Drop us an email! TorqueTestChannel@gmail.com
@Torque Test Channel sadly, I'm based in Australia. But happy to send it your way without any cost to you
Have you tested both of these? Considering buying either one, though I'm not sure if the 1450 is over kill for what I need😂 also weighs a kg more I think. What you reckon?
@@xaviermacdonald1727 We can certainly put $ towards shipping, drop us a line!
All good TTC. I just want to help out your channel.
That's when the power valve opens and it hits the pipe. Proprietary dewalt technology
Send it to AvE to take apart and compare with a dcf900!
Doin that now
Such a Tease not using the 15AMP battery in this vid! can't wait to see if it cracks 1000
It's like VTEC for impacts, lol!
NAWSSSSS!
And once again, SBD does it again.
Idk why TTI even exists.
sure it's powerful.
but we've gotten to a point where I can snap 5/8in bolts with a basic 1/2 impact.
I can remove lug nuts with a 1/4in impact driver.
i'd much rather durability and longevity over raw power at this point.
DeWalt is a Pro Tool Akin to Snapon/Makita, Milwaukee is for noobs
What a monster - I'll have to up the pounds at the gym to be ready for this bad boy !!!🏋️♂️
I work on large old Caterpillar tractors... THIS IS WHAT I NEED! lol
If I have to suspend it from a crane I will, because I need the crane to lift the bolt out afterwards anyway!
I hope they give the guy at that DeWalt meeting who said:
Hey, what if we put VTEC in an impact?
I hope he gets a raise.
OIWOO V-TEC on This Dewalt 😱😱 take my wallet
You were so incredibly lucky that this definitely not a DeWalt tool was compatible with your DeWalt batteries! What are the chances of that happening? 🤷♂️
1-in-a-million. Really was our day
I swear dewalt has no chill when it comes to high torque and power my god
8 1/4 is short… sounds like my ex ole lady
This will be good for changing spark plugs on mower engines.
Nope, not enough torque. But it should be able to handle the glow plugs on RC engines...
I have been considering anvil swapping my 900 to 3/4 but i might just wait now.
I'm all about the numbers, but I remember you saying that you found yourself reaching for the Matco over the 900 cuz it was nicer to use. What about the Makita 3/4? Would you take that over this 961 in 3/4? I waited for that 900 to come out but never got it cuz it just seemed to pop around too much - just didn't seem like a refined tool and looks like a blimp. (I did buy the 891, then sold my 894)Thanks for everything you guys do - keeping these Manufacturers honest... Love your flashlight vids, got me hooked. You guys are the best!
We'll see what this guy can do with other batts and weigh in on that for you.
