Apollo 440 - Liquid Cool (Deep Forest Ice Cold @ The Equator Mix) (1994) (Acetate)

The one and only official acetate cut by Metropolis Mastering for the commercial Stealth Sonic Recordings 12" SSXT3.
"The 10:22 version of "Liquid Cool" was originally on the "Rumble EP", Apollo 440's first Epic release. I brought the promo job into Power Promotions, and we sent it to all the suitably groovy DJs. I remember Andrew Weatherall enthusing about it to me one Sunday night at Strutt in 1993. Our slogan at Power was "The cutting edge of dance music". The DJ promo list, run by Terry Marks, was one everybody wanted to be on.
Remixes were the thing to get your tunes out there, and we came up with an original selection for "Liquid Cool". The Apollos had provided the remix that put Deep Forest's "Sweet Lullaby" on the map, and they were in London working with young hotshot Ollie J. Howard hung out with them down at Rollover Studios and might be credited on their mixes somewhere. Anyway, with all the remixes in it was decided that the only way to do them justice was to release them all together in a "never been seen before" triple promo 12" with a double gatefold sleeve!
Amongst other influential recipients Terry made sure Sasha and John Digweed received upfront copies, and Deep Forest's "Ice Cold" mix became a staple of their sets and onto their renowned "Northern Exposure" mix. Laurent Garnier waxed lyrically in DJ magazine that it was the best remix package ever!"
