This is probably the best episode of Boondocks in my opinion. There's so much heart to it, and it's nice to see even a character like Huey in a more vulnerable situation like dealing with a past friendship.
his inner 10 year old showed this one....notice how he missed jasmine subtly trying to be his friend when she clearly has a crush on him hes like missing the obvious signs of her asking him over and hurt her by saying cairo was his bff and at the end she makes fun of him for it...not smooth huey
Easily the best episode. It's definitely mine of season 1. Season 1 boondocks is the clear pinnacle of the series, it never quite got that feeling again in later seasons (2 and 3) although they were good.
@@ItsAnEndlessWorld I think seasons 2 and 3 were funnier and had way better animation, but in terms of heart and writing, I think 1 is definitely the best.
For me it was Rpbert acknowledge his Mortality as his friends and foes alike are starting to die Robert learns to cherish the memories even the unsavory ones at his expense
Cairo threw his friendship away like Granddad did. Maybe one day Cairo will regret it or not. Cairo is young and he doesn't understand that Huey didn't leave him on purpose. It wasn't Huey 's fault. Cairo failed to understand that. Cairo will have to learn to put his past behind him and get over his petty resentment when he gets older. It's all up to him. Cairo has a bad taste in friends. he ended his friendship with Huey for nothing.
They say every boondocks episode has a lesson to it, this one for sure did. It's one of my favorites for that reason. This, smoking with cigawrettes and Fundraiser were my faves but this one stands out
Khalil Gibran has a lot of deep quotes that are timeless in my opinion. I remember one quote off the top of my head "Beauty is eternity gazing at itself in a mirror."
"Everybody knew Mo was an asshole. But he wasn't the one that threw away your friendship. You did." Okay...? But that still doesn't change the fact that Mo was the definition of the toxic friend that should be throw away. So, what exactly is wrong about Robert being upset about Mo bringing 0 positivity toward their friendship? Kind of a bad aesop.
I feel the same kind of. I guess the point is to not throw a friendship away over something so petty like Grandad did with Mo and Cairo did with Huey, but at the same time Granddad probably made the right call breaking that friendship, and Huey reuniting with Jasmine was to show that he now has a better friend in her than in Cairo 🤔.
It takes a lot of concentration to fly a war plane like that. Especially back then. Robert getting his ear talked off would not have helped his concentration.
@@monfernova nah, there were interviews of the bts they did and regina king didnt start doing both riley and huey until s2, search up "regina king bts the boondocks" you'll see it for yourself, the video is like 3:28

I kind of want to see a prequel series about the Freeman family when the first lived in Chicago, and Huey's friendship with Cairo.
