I bought the TD17KVX a few weeks ago and couldn't agree more! It's fantastic for the price. Very nice playing feel on the snare, toms and the cymbals. Sturdy rack. Hi drumtec, so I’ve noticed the TD 17 sound module with the live sound edition kits is not available for order and I have purchased from the other sound editions on your website. I already have the TD 17 module and I noticed that other TD live sound editions are available for purchase on your website without the requirements of purchasing a new module or a new kit alongside it. May I ask why the double standard on availability and that you would please make this module available as the others are? Thanks for your attention to this matter.
Hi, the LIve Sound Edition always is an exclusive goodie that comes only the purchase of a sound module from drum-tec. As soon as the sound module is discontinued, we make the Live Sound Edition available for purchase as well. Kind regards!
I really hope you guys offer this as a download. I understand you want to sell your module. But I already own the module and live in the US. Please consider this.
Thank you Joshua, we do consider this. As of right now we've decided against it. @@drumtecTV Ok, I get it ! Sorry for my english ability is not very good... I want to ask , my E-drums is TD-17KVX , if I want to make the sounds more like the "real" drums , I can buy other TD-17 Sound Edition (example like : Real Acoustics Sound Edition) for my TD-17KVX? if I buy I don't know how to download and put in my TD-17KVX.... Can you tell me how to do? and only buy the sound edition it's all?
You guys always make the best videos. It's really nice that you guys offer these kits and the snare samples for free with the purchase. These kits sound a lot better than the factory presets for sure. Great drumming as always.
Hello teachers, I hope you can sell these kits, they are the best and the box set I already bought you rock classic and real acoustic, but I would like to buy the live real snare and the kits, a hug, I hope you sell them. Greetings from Chile translated from Spanish to English on google hahahaha
Hey Ed, thank you very much! :) but I suppose Superior Drummer still has more sample depth & dynamic layers, making it sound somewhat more realistic ;) kind regards!
Using a Roland TD-17 for live shows would you recommend a power amp to boost level before the P.A? I seem to be running out of volume in live shows especially with our guitarist who "needs" to be at 11 on his volume
:-D Hi Todd, the room you are seeing in the background is the drum-tec West electronic drums showroom, it´s not my private drum collection! ;) Kind regards
@@drumyogi9281 :-D Hey Jason, well actually I am always surrounded by drum-tec kits. I have one at my recording studio, then one floor above this studio is the drum-tec West showroom (that you always see in the video´s backgrounds), and finally I also have a kit at my home studio. So there´s no escape... No seriously, I use those in every day music production in the studio(s) a lot hooked up to sample libraries through midi. Makes work so much easier, quicker & more flexible than recording my acoustic kits for many projects. Kind regards!
As a drummer for 55 years, I like the sound of the Pearl better. But you can never replace a Ziljuan cymbal. Any of these kits with a set of Zees would sound really good because a kit has to keep up with the real cymbal sound, these cymbals are not cutting it for me.
So I bought this drum kit the way he came out. I got the KBS I believe, the one in the middle for $1200. I’m guessing all of the kids that you guys edited with the 2017 are using the mahogany snare because in my opinion, all the other snares that come with the kit don’t sound that good unless your sub instrument or main instrument is the mahogany. I had the TD 11 before this and although not all of those stairs were great, there was more than just one that was good
I saw that you offer metal sounds for the TD-17, are you going to offer the download for the Live sounds as well? I didnt see it on your download list.
Hey there, unfortunately the Live Sound Editions are an exclusive giveaway for our drum-tec customers with the purchase of a TD-17 kit or module. They are not for sale separately. Sorry & kind regards!
The snare sounds 3 dimensional but the hats, toms and kick sound just dead to me. I think Roland should have a good look at what Toontrack has done with there samplers. The room sound is so important to a "live" drum kit sound while using headphones.
Nice story but I was specifically talking about using headphones. I'm outlining the discrepancy's in feel of all the individual drums and cymbals. You can tell there not recorded together its obvious they were composited.
Nick Powell What are you on about?? The more you talk the more I'm dis regarding your opinion. First of all if your engineer has your drum sounding that bad before the mix they're either bad drums with poor heads and bad tuning, or the engineer doesn't know how to adjust a mic to better fit the tone of the drum. Drums should never sound terrible going in! There not going to sound "perfect" but they should sound natural! And then in the mix you add a feel or style to them to make them pop. Still you're not understanding where I'm coming from. The Roland samples have been recorded and mixed in a way that they can be mixed and matched with other kits and samples from Roland's library, I understand there's flexibility with that but it destroys the feel of the overall kit. I mentioned tool track, that's because they take AMAZING drum kits take them to AMAZING studios with AMAZING engineers who perfectly the recording of all the samples (in a real space) with a REAL setup and then turn that into a virtual drum kit that sounds alive! Not fake. Go and grab superior drummer and plug your drum kit in through midi and you'll be blown away.
Haha, everything makes sense now! :') That's top level perfection on something that was very unique and experimental, It's not that hard to put a modern kit (not a 26" kick with minimal muffling) in a good room with some decent mics and get a good recording without having to fix everything in post. it might take a couple hours to get good positioning of the mics and to fix a couple over tones but its definitely worth it and shows the skill of the recording engineer! Thanks for the conversation though :')
Nick Powell I honestly still have no idea what you're on about. Either way I don't like the Roland samples because they sound fake and don't match each other. Let me ask you this... Have you ever tried playing through superior drummer or ez drummer? I have and it's night and day better than stock. As for a live space... They sound even worse there to me so we'll have to agree to disagree. 😂
Thanks man! I always worry about my watches when I drum, because I primarily use automatic watches. Too much wrist movement can break the mechanism. You don't have that problem though? Are the ones you use battery powered/quartz?

I own the TD-17KVX and I have to say the kit is amazing, however I am INSANELY disappointed that Roland has made it impossible to route metronome ONLY to headphones. In other words you can not use it professionally with a backing track and metronome without also sending the click over the PA system. If anyone know how to do this I would be most amazed and happy, however the manual does not mention this in any regard. Thanks for a great video, but if there is no way to route the click then Roland has doomed this kit to be a PRACTICE ONLY type of kit. You can always do like me and buy more expensive gear, but I can't believe Roland has just removed this one simple feature, ONLY to force you to use more/other gear.
Hey Andreas, have you tried using an external click track/source through the "mix in" input of the module? Maybe that would work routing wise (i am not sure though). Another possibility might be to use a small mixer and an external click source, while also connecting the TD-17 audio output to that mixer. From there you might send the module sound only to foh and both signals together to your headphones somehow. I know it's just workarounds, but maybe you can make it work like this? Kind regards!
Hey Ernie, right! You get the drum-tec Live Sound Edition + the Real Snare Sample Package for free as an exclusive giveaway with the purchase of a TD-17 sound module or kit directly from drum-tec. Kind regards!

Your samples are bananas. You don’t have the samples available as a download do you? Also... It blows my mind that Roland doesn’t include a good super dry 70s dead drum sound. Like you might hear on a Steely Dan record

How well would the Yamaha BR-15, 2 way speaker work with these kits? My keyboardist used 2 of them for smaller shows, I think it's an 800 watt system. But it does do well with all the highs and lows.

Hi, we do have some sound editions for sale separately (unfortunately not the TD-17 Live Sound Edition, which is a free gift with every TD-17 kit / module from drum-tec):

@@drumtecTV Will you ever offer it for sale?
@@DhanniMichael Hey Lane, unfortunately the Live Sound Edition will probably remain an exclusive giveaway for our kit/module customers. But we are working on more sound editions for TD-17, that will also be available for purchase! :) kind regards

I just get the TD-17KVX yesterday , how can I get this Live Sound Edition ? can somebody help me...?
Hi Bryant, the Live Sound Edition is only available with the purchase of a TD-17 module directly from drum-tec. But there are various other drum-tec Sound Editions available for download separately over here:

@@drumtecTV Ok, I get it ! Sorry for my english ability is not very good...
I want to ask , my E-drums is TD-17KVX , if I want to make the sounds more like the "real" drums , I can buy other TD-17 Sound Edition (example like : Real Acoustics Sound Edition) for my TD-17KVX? if I buy I don't know how to download and put in my TD-17KVX.... Can you tell me how to do? and only buy the sound edition it's all?
Good
You guys always make the best videos. It's really nice that you guys offer these kits and the snare samples for free with the purchase. These kits sound a lot better than the factory presets for sure. Great drumming as always.
Thanks Stephen! :)
fine....
Hello teachers, I hope you can sell these kits, they are the best and the box set I already bought you rock classic and real acoustic, but I would like to buy the live real snare and the kits, a hug, I hope you sell them. Greetings from Chile translated from Spanish to English on google hahahaha
These kits sound better than superior drummer...wow
Hey Ed, thank you very much! :) but I suppose Superior Drummer still has more sample depth & dynamic layers, making it sound somewhat more realistic ;) kind regards!
Suena genial.
Using a Roland TD-17 for live shows would you recommend a power amp to boost level before the P.A? I seem to be running out of volume in live shows especially with our guitarist who "needs" to be at 11 on his volume
Holy moly that dudes drum room...
:-D Hi Todd, the room you are seeing in the background is the drum-tec West electronic drums showroom, it´s not my private drum collection! ;) Kind regards
@@drumtecTV Are you aloud to play around on the kits off camera for fun?
@@drumyogi9281 :-D Hey Jason, well actually I am always surrounded by drum-tec kits. I have one at my recording studio, then one floor above this studio is the drum-tec West showroom (that you always see in the video´s backgrounds), and finally I also have a kit at my home studio. So there´s no escape... No seriously, I use those in every day music production in the studio(s) a lot hooked up to sample libraries through midi. Makes work so much easier, quicker & more flexible than recording my acoustic kits for many projects. Kind regards!
The sad part about this is that i bought my unite out of savings so i cant just buy another module T.T
As a drummer for 55 years, I like the sound of the Pearl better. But you can never replace a Ziljuan cymbal. Any of these kits with a set of Zees would sound really good because a kit has to keep up with the real cymbal sound, these cymbals are not cutting it for me.
why I can't login drum-tec.com? it's say Your access data could not be assigned to a user
Please get in touch through service@drum-tec.de for any questions concerning the webshop/orders etc. Kind regards!
I had the TD 11 before this and although not all of those stairs were great, there was more than just one that was good
amazing, thnkz
Why do people demonstrating drums play the same beats? I find I do this in music stores.
@@drumtecTV do you think further in the future they may become available or might there be other sound editions for td17?

drumtecTV thanks!
That's top level perfection on something that was very unique and experimental, It's not that hard to put a modern kit (not a 26" kick with minimal muffling) in a good room with some decent mics and get a good recording without having to fix everything in post. it might take a couple hours to get good positioning of the mics and to fix a couple over tones but its definitely worth it and shows the skill of the recording engineer!
Nghe dieu trong hai qua
Sick drumming, but I'm curious (and this is a serious question) -- what watch are you wearing? It's a good-looking timepiece
Hey Patrick, thank you! :) it´s a Nixon watch (they have a website). They are great and I own different models of the same brand. Kind regards!
Thanks man! I always worry about my watches when I drum, because I primarily use automatic watches. Too much wrist movement can break the mechanism. You don't have that problem though? Are the ones you use battery powered/quartz?
Yes they are battery powered :) no problems so far. Kind regard!
I want to ask for the price, how much for the drum set?

Hello, i have the td17 kit already, is it possible to buy just the LSE file for me to upload it to my module? Thanks!

www.drum-tec.com/modules/drum-tec-sound-editions

So to get these kits we have to buy the Module from Drumtec? thanks
Hey Ernie, right! You get the drum-tec Live Sound Edition + the Real Snare Sample Package for free as an exclusive giveaway with the purchase of a TD-17 sound module or kit directly from drum-tec. Kind regards!
Hi, we do have a demo video which explains a little:
ruclips.net/video/inGvyHLhk38/видео.html
We´ve recorded these snare samples exclusively at the Spytunes Studio. Sure you can also use other samples & layer them with the TD-17 sounds :) but they will probably sound different though. Kind regards!
Ernie No, you can purchase many different sound kits. Drum-Tec includes one package for free with the purchase of a Roland module.
Your samples are bananas. You don’t have the samples available as a download do you? Also... It blows my mind that Roland doesn’t include a good super dry 70s dead drum sound. Like you might hear on a Steely Dan record
Hi, you are right the TD-17 Live Sound Edition is not available separately. It comes for free with the purchase of a TD-17 module/kit from drum-tec.

How well would the Yamaha BR-15, 2 way speaker work with these kits? My keyboardist used 2 of them for smaller shows, I think it's an 800 watt system. But it does do well with all the highs and lows.
Hi Nick, sorry I do not have any first hand experience with those. You can find some electronic drum approved systems that we like to suggest over here:

it's odd to me that DT will sell some TD-17 sounds as standalone, but other as only part of a "kit/module" purchase. Hmm
The Live Sound Editions have always been & will always be a free give away for module / kit customers, simply to make a purchase from drum-tec more attractive. After the specific module is discontinued by Roland (f.e. TD-15,TD-25, TD-30), the Live Sound Editions are being made available for purchase separately. Apart from those, there are other sound editions that are available for purchase right away, so please check out the latest Real aoustics Sound Edition for Roland TD-17 f.e.:

The snare sound on the TD30 & TD25 sounds a lot better than the TD17/TD50.
I bought a TD30k because I couldn't stand the snare sounds on the TD50.
I only like the Popper snare for the most part.
