Our family was in the dairy business for 50 + years and in 2014 I could deal with the stress of it any longer so we sold the cows and went to beef cattle I took a parttime job my youngest son took full time job my oldest son the only 1 on the farm full time now we have 700 acres and dosent make a enough now to pay a living. It sad it has came to this my heart gose out to any family farm trying to make it work these days
We are watching far more than the collapse of an agriculture industry ... our entire country is headed for it because of America's (and the world's) sin problem.
My dad drove a Budweiser truck locally, for nearly 20 years. He never took a day off. Never took a sick day. Never had an accident. Never had a traffic ticket. Made the same money per case of beer when he left as he did the day he started. Just before he was about to retire and collect his pension, the owner of the distributorship made life so hard for him that he had to quit. But our God is a just God. A few years later, that man was 20 miles out on his boat fishing, when he had a heart attack and died before they could get him back to shore. Repent. Choose LIFE. Choose Jesus. Time is running out.
My parents sold all their dairy cows in a government buy out, all 100 plus producing milking cows went to slaughter. We all cried when they were loaded on the trucks. There is no future for small dairies with the government price controls.
This has been going on for years. They shut most of the family owned 2 chicken house owners in Georgia down, they shut the Dairy farms down, the ones that I remember as a child years ago. It boils down to political, as usual.
We are not pleased to be hearing this, farmers might also realize ALL business is tough, that is true for us too, thought about prices, price government regulated prices are not helping these people prices should be market value whatever the market will bare is how all pricing for all items should be with no government subsidies that time has come now in our thoughts. This man he has a really nice looking farm thank you for droning over it to give us viewers understanding. We are a pair of small business owners who care a lot about a lot so we speak from our hearts when we share here in the comments. This farmer should know this dairy consolidation is not new and not one for just farmers it is in fact an issue that began in aerospace job shop consolidations nearly 30 years ago now with ow only the largest most powerful people able to operate as a contractor to the major aerospace manufacturers or house hold names we all know. Thank you, Lance & Patrick.
We just had to get rid of our cows in December the first of the month they said they were done on the 15th some found other hauler most of us didn't like you said they don't want family farms they want to haul out of factory farms. That is one day I'll never forget.
There’s gotta be a better way man. Instead of killin off them cows why can’t we use em for helping farmers establish regenerative approaches? Lay down cover crops in some of these orchards and let the cows eat the grass. What’s stopping these farmers from selling directly to the customer? I live in Hilmar ca, huge dairy and farm town. Why can’t we find a better way that doesn’t involve government?
why would you say that this is a good thing obviously this dairy farmer took very good care of his cows and loved them very much Just like all other American dairy farmers but I'm guessing that you think all dairies are evil because one or two dairies make a bad example for the entire industry
sorry but most dairy cows live in factory farms where they are treated like objects and not living animals and the farmers also take their calves away and most of the time kill them or putting them in small cages and this is also done on most small farms to. And you also have that slaughter part. Dairy farming do also have massive destructive impact on the climate and are not a sustainable food system. And I do know that some dairy farmers do take care of their animals and let the cows have their calves and go outside grazing, but it's really not many left them.

What are you guys doing now?
It's not only in America, it's all over the world sadly
I support supply management and small family farms.
Heartbreaking, Just sickening to see the collapse of an American tradition.

Heart breaking.....support local farmers! I’ve got two jerseys that we’re headed to slaughter before I bought them.
Brother, I sincerely hope we are all out of here and taken home soon ...

Thank god, all animals ownership should be banned. Its is highly abusive. Also ban guns and free speech.

Amen brother, truth hurts, can't eat technology.
Tariffs killed the Farmers, unintended suicide from poor judgement based on wrong assumptions.

Government has it so you need all these dang licences to sell directly im pretty sure
Well cows milk is unhealthy tho
It depends on what they eat. If they graze a healthy salad bar out in the prairie under the sun the milk will be very nutritious.
Just make sure that you go with Jesus. Time is running out.
Hell yeah shut down! 😊
