    My mom used to do this to our hair. She made her own rollers out of newspaper about as long as the ones you have here and then would wrap them with material and then wrap sections of our hair and we had beautiful curls the next morning. This brought back so many memories. By the way it was the 60’s.

    Some tips: Roll the top back and away from the face for a better hairline. Brush the hair as far forward as you can in each section. Don’t tighten the flexi rods as much. Use only 2 sections for a more comfortable sleep.

    I tried this method a couple days ago and I managed to wear a very decent wavy blowout for two days (and I went to the gym and all!). I think what did it for me was that I heat styled my hair with my straightener first and then used the method to "set" the style and keep it for a couple days.

  • @malibooo
    @malibooo Год назад +30

    YesHipolito just came out with the perfect sized velvet rods!!! They don't slip and they stay in the hair and she has 2 whole whole videos on them on how to do them correctly. Also do 2, it's much easier to sleep in, or 3 if you're lounging about the house. Or stack them the "mickey mouse method" if you sleep on your back.
    The satin bonnet helps lock in the heat of your head setting the curls. Also you need to suuuper extend the hair forward so the back roller is on the top of your hair.

    I started do this method about a week ago. This is the only thing have ever been able to sleep in. You really checked out how “yeshipolito” does it. 2 comments 1(I really found more than 2 really doesn’t work for me, you really have to get on top of head. 2( use clips on the back to hold the second one in place. I found using 2 alligator clips really works. I like to brush all up and forward, then clips in opposite directions to catch all the hair. After that you can let your hair go while you roll it up. P.S. I use 1, 1.25” rods in each sock and you really in it the sock. And I used frizz ease dream curls on my mid to my ends. Oh and I leave my bangs out.

    I'd forgo the sock stuffing and use the huge flexirods because socks are drying and could cause frizz. I would also use a satin scarf instead of a bonnet because it will hold better. 💜

    • @safetyfirst3132
      @safetyfirst3132 Год назад +3

      I completely agree about the socks drying out the hair and causing frizz!! And I’ve used a nylon neck gaiter to hold everything in place more firmly when I experimented with more than 2 sections. I started with it already around my neck before wrapping the hair, and then pull it up over the entirety of the rolls and tie it in the back like a trash bag to close. It also keeps the hair around my ears in check and less frizzy.

    Thanks for sharing such a great and extremely inexpensive solution for a diy flex rods for those of us that want to try before buying them (especially since I have a lot of hair and will need a lot of the xl rods and different other sizes for my layer). I also am not sure if I actually will be able to make this work for my hair either and using a blow dryer, xxl round “mixed bristle” barrel brush along with several styling products appears like it might be easier to do and I won’t have to worry about being unable to sleep with all those rods in my hair either! I can just blow dry it and be done with it all! Thank You so Much for the DIY tip, I’m definitely going to check it out!!

I also don't skip my silk/satin bonnet, except I use a tighter bonnet called a silk sleep turban. It keept everything in place and it looks cuter.

    Couple mistakes that are deal breakers! You’re supposed to already have styled your hair before hand! The rollers do not create the curled blowout, they are meant to improve and hold the style you already had. Second: it was super uncomfortable because u put two for the bottom half on either side of your head. Instead do just one so it sits in the center of your head and the sides of your head are free to rest comfortably on the pillow! These two adjustments will totally improve the few negatives you found about this method🤗🫶🏼

    I have no idea how Malibo makes so many videos. I admire the time management! I forget the name, big pink squishy rollers you slept in maybe called sleep rollers? I had the hairdryer hood and rollers, I'm not for sleeping in anything, a little like princess and the pea. This reminded me of that. The hood and rollers was good for getting volume in thin hair so I can see how this method and a hood would work.

    I remember my mom and my aunts sleeping in brush rollers in the 60s (the rollers that look like iron cages). How they ever got to sleep at night is beyond comprehension. On Saturdays, my mother would wash my hair and put those terrible rollers on the top of my head, pin curls on the sides. I absolutely HATED it 😡 I vowed I'd never do that if I had a daughter and I didn't. To this day, I refuse to wear rollers of ANY kind. If I can't style with a blow dryer, curling iron or flat iron, I'll just pull it back with elastics or a clip.

    I'd just blowdry my hair, roll it up while it's hot, let them stay til your hair cools, et voila! No need to sleep in it. I do the same thing to my hair by blowing it dry and coiling it in a bun on top of my bed until cool. It makes all my layers pop and adds an easy wave with little effort. If you have bangs, styling them is all that's left.

Every review that the bonnet stained or leaked ink, you can tell they wore it while their hair is wet because the photos show wet pillows. That's not what bonnets are meant for.
