Damn, this is cool on just one listening. I love the instrumental LP versions which I bought when released, but she is so Frank, love her vibrato, vocal fry. I look forward to more listens!

A peek into Hunchentoot. These arrangements with vocals have far more relevance than fanatical pleas that the Sleep Dirt album should only be some instrumental jazz fusion album. Fortunately we not only have both but can remain hopeful that Hunchentoot will have a stage production. Enter UMe, with budgets and a dream I have hopes.

Great Great Tune! His output was superhuman but still i wished Frank had done an entire 2LP album in this jazzy style.
"20 small cigars" another example - (+wakawazoo etc)
This kinda "zappa-jazz' would've been a huge category of its own à la Ellington, Mingus, Dolphy, Coltrane etc...
    i miss him badly

      Hey, Seahag!
I saw you perform with Project/Object on a number of occasions. One time, you played Black Napkins on banjo. Am I correct that it was Black Napkins? If not, what was it?
As to the date itself, Ike was there. Ed Mann may have been on that date too.
Janet The Planet was in the audience, being threatened to be ejected for having weed. She looked up at Ike as if to say, *"DO SOMETHING, IKE!"* and he just looked down at her from the stage with a look like "What the fuck do you think I can do?!"
I'm not a user, but I don't judge others on the issue. But I also wonder what Frank would say. Watching Baby Snakes, he told the audience member, "Throw that away, it's bad for you."
Anyway, big thank you to you, Andre and the rest, for playing Frank's music. I always had a blast at the gigs!

@@Royale_with_Cheeze Hi - no that wasn’t me on the banjo… that was Jordan Shapiro. keyboardist who played black page and other crazy stuff on the mandolin. I pretty much played guitar in project/object and sometimes bass. I remember the incident you were talking about.

      @@robbieseahagmangano897
Ahhhhhh. The great Jordan Shapiro. And it was mandolin. I remember now. Even before writing that earlier message I was thinking how difficult it must be to play Black Napkins on banjo. The manipulation of the banjo is likely much more difficult than mandolin.
I don't know why I thought it was Janet. Do you recall, was Ed Mann on that date?
On various occasions I saw Nappy, Don Preston and Ed Mann. Always great shows.
The first time I saw you guys was around 2000. You had an opening act Dead Cat Bounce. I liked them and even bought their CD. Good night all along.
Thank you for your immediate reply and for all the fun "optional entertainment"

This is the most hilarious set of lyrics on any Zappa album and her vocals are also the best. A stunning accomplishment and a very sad thing that the current version excludes these vocals.

On the original vinyl, Chester Thompson plays drums on Flambay, Spider of Destiny and Time is Money (included here) as well as Regyptian Strut. All recorded in 1974.
Terry Bozzio plays drums on Filthy Habits and The Ocean is... They weren't rerecorded by Chad.
On the remix, Chad Wackerman rerecorded the drums on all of Chester's tracks except for Time Is Money. I wonder why not that one.
