Nice but prefer original. Love the lounge piano and fret less bass playing . This kind of ruins that .
wonderful sounding copy of a really fantastic and underrated era of the zappa discography. thanks so much for sharing!
There are some good elements and some bad ones. As regards the general execution, it is excellent. The orchestra is impeccable and cannot be faulted. The soprano and chorus is also perfect. However, the performances by Zachary Wilder and Nicholas Scot cannot replicate Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan [AKA Flo & Eddie]. As a long time fan of Zappa and 200 Motels, Wilder and Scot's performance is uncomfortable to listen to. Similarly with Lionel Painter's attempts to replace Theodor Bikel and Jimmy Carl Black. Lonesome Cowboy Burt is an appalling and uncomfortable listen. The main rock band do a fairly good attempt to knock out the likes of Magic Fingers, but again they don't do Zappa's music justice. A good attempt overall but I'd have gone for a decent rock ensemble to accompany the compitant orchestra. If Dweezil had stepped into the fray this could have been outstanding. Orchestra and soprano, 10/10, rock ensemble 6/10, main singers Wilder, Scot and Painter, 2/10, not so much for their ability to sing as it is clear they can, but for not being the right people for the respective parts.
brilliant big Al such a colossal player
what the actual _frick_ !
WELL AT LEAAAAAST THERE’S SORT OF A CHOOIIICE THERE
always loved when Zappa incorporated these sounds into his music. he def wears his inspiration on his sleeve
If Zappa played this, I'd marry anyone.
É lindo! É demais! É louco! É massa! É fantástico! É tudo e nada! É o ser e o não-ser! PORRADA! OBRIGADO!
And a big thank you to Mr. Gazelle. This has made my year.
OMG. The last time I got to see Frank. I had already seen him 4 times before. I didnt even bring a camera this times to this show. I remember as we were leaving the show thinking , Hey he will be back in a couple of years.....Little did I even know, No one had stage presence like he did.
These happy fingers are brought to you by our friends down at the Closet, please remember us on your night out
I was at two of the Sydney Shows, brilliant. So far ahead of the what was in this country.
This is one of the great moments. Just fantastic.
J'aime bien. Je trouve que la voix donne de l'épaisseur à la musique. Je crois que je préfère à la version purement instrumentale.
United States embassy listen to me. I will not allow this terrific opportunity to be taken from me!!!- screened refugees .
This NEEDS to be released!!! There's a master of this recording, there's video (which I've seen in pits and pieces). FZFT, we don't need another release of songs that have been released and released and released! I understand, "save your powder" for when you need it (see Resolver/Brutality) but . . . .
THEY PLAYED THIS LIVE ... I'm SHOCKED I NEVER THOUGHT WITH VINNIE OF COURSE HE ATE SUSHI AND READ THIS AND PLAYED THIS ALL AT THE SAME TIME was this why Terry Bozzio left the room was he mad or just knew Frank found his replacement Bozzio was leaving anyway I still don't understand that story just why he walked out did he feel Jesus there was someone better or as good as him I don';t know ... I WAS LOOKING TO SEE IF DWEEZIL ATTEMPTED THIS YET AND WHAT DO I FIND LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLL A FRANK VERSION WITH THE BEST READING BAND HE EVER HAD ....
An Ahmet Zappa favorite
1:33:41 is the best part of that booger man improv
You are the best Franky. Thax.
I suppose this is the closest Frank got to playing with John McLaughlin.
Major thank
L affiche me fascine on a la puce sur la main droite il tient la lune comme une galette il fait tourner saturne avec l index si quelqu'un connait d autres signes cachés je suis preneur merci d avance
frank is the best!!!
Interestingly enough Joe had said he has a bootleg, that’s different from the tape available on zappateers
I always loved this version of Spider of Destiny
It's comedy in music
I like the one in Detroit and I am Ted Nugent on guitar. The Motor City I can't add man
This version of the album wasn't short lived, it was the standard version for twenty years!
Wow, that version of RNDZL is certainly one for the books.
I was outside the venue that night. I didn't go in. (?!) I had closed the show at the Palladium two weeks earlier I guess I felt awkward.
Wow one of the great Zappa songs in my mind of all time I mean anything off Joe's Garage is an absolute freak of nature Masterpiece and it tickles my feather and it's something that I would love to hear at the next clambake but anyway that 78 version is a mind effing meltdown just absolutely throttled me and the 82 version is not too shabby itself I've heard another prototype version of this song from 75 and it wasn't the Waterbury show and it was a larger more prominent version of this song still in Frank's womb
This might be the best show from the 75 lineup but Philadelphia is good and so is the New Year's Eve show as well
It's a shame there isn't a better recording of the whole Sinister Footwear suite by the Berkeley Symphony Orchestra that doesn't have the audience 'interaction' on it. A better recording sonically would be nice but I've been used to hearing this for decades now :)
Great, Harris! I love you, Zappa! ❤🤘🏿🤘🏿❤
Love frank.love listening.love
my gawd, I was there! The last time I saw FZ alive. A great time had by all, that magic evening!
Me too! He usually played the Convention center in the years before. Never got to see him again.
But I’m hooked I’ve got to have it I’ve got to haaave it I need to play…..
What was Don Van Vliet's last recorded song? Did it go like "What'll I do..............?
R.I.P. TOM FOWLER 🙏
Amen.
Sorry, but I way prefer the original album with instrumental only. At one point I wanted to get the CD, but after I found out that they added vocals, nope..
Oh spider of destiny are you surprised I speak the language? I've been to your country(planet) seen your crying and dying. Your planet is nowhere.
❤❤❤❤❤😮😅France 🇫🇷 ♥️
Thanks so much !
This is f****** awesome. I can't believe people actually made music like this. If I was in the audience I would die laughing. 😊
Music is the best!
Incredible! Warm solo!
Yuummm....
The 1991 CD version is actually still available for purchase on the official Frank Zappa website.
There's been a good Jillian good guitar solos and most of them were by Frank Zappa but this is the most destructive guitar solo I've ever heard in my life Play it loud it's the most destructive music I've ever heard that is so freaking beautiful thanks Frank hey Vinny you weren't bad either Arthur barrel holding the fort down Rock on
I love the way she sounds deranged when at the end of Time is Money.
