DIY Brisket Gimbap Night

- Sister's family came over and we wanted a quick simple dinner so decide to do a DYI gimbap night. These are not typical ingredients for traditional Korean gimbap but you can practically make gimbap with anything. We cooked up some very thinly sliced brisket (and sesame oil, salt, pepper dipping) and made canned tuna mix with mayo, salt and pepper. For other fillings we had: well fermented kimchi (rinsed with water and squeezed), jalapeno pickles and cucumber pickles mom made and some perilla leaves.

I love that pop up cookie monster funny
I lived in Korea 4 years this is usually called kimbap but both names are the same. It's not sushi because sushi literally means vinegar rice. Kimbap has sesame oil and no vinegar. If anything it's more like a burrito and Koreans don't usually put fish in it just meat/veggies

You got so mad when he said “it’s a type of burrito” but your parents ALWAYS compare anything they eat to the KOREAN VERSION. Lol not mad just saying both your parents and your husband have reference points and if you are gonna dismiss one you must dismiss all. ❤ it is like a burrito to an American. I felt the same discernible attitude when your parents compared Jamaican Oxtail to Korean stew or something of the sort.
