As a child in the war years( 1940- 45 ) I spent 2 weeks every August in Girvan . A lovely wee town . The highlight was climbing the Byne hill and gathering heather, and if lucky finding white heather.I had 3 adored cousins in the RAF, and when they were flying out of Prestwick they would fly over the house where we were staying and dip their wings. We knew then that if they were lucky they would come by later to visit., and they would take me to the beach and try to teach me to swim.I envy you having a mutton pie or a Forfar bridie with onions. I had al wonderful walk with you .One love from Jamaica.
Who doesn't like balloons and bunting? No thread veins yet but I keep finding hairs growing in places like a dandelion in a sidewalk.... only more random. That was definitely Not in the owners manual. I saw the Waters interview. Reminded me of an interview I saw with John Cleese recently. The current lack of real perspective and humor among the Perpetually Hurt Adolescents is something to behold. A sad something. Glad we had this chat. Keep the videos and your own perspective coming. Much appreciated Ed.
Lovely video and cracking song. I've always planned to stop in Girvan and enjoy a wee walk around, used to visit there when I was a kid. Your video reminds me to stop and look.
Love the video Eddy, from start to finish, simply lovely. Your sense of humor is the special touch, along with the field of flowers, the wonderful song, and the wee hill to climb! BTW, I kept thinking a big gorilla was gonna jump out as you made it through that jungle to the top❣️ Cheers, Lynn in Naples FL 😎
I was at the bus station in Chania on Crete years ago...talk about chaos...all the buses left for their destinations at the same time...16:30! Surely that's a two pie hill!
BBC unfortunately wouldn't have someone on who is willing to have their own opinion that anti abortion protesters have harmful impacts. Their 'impartiality' has effectively made them useless. I would absolutely watch a show of ed's on there though. Would be great.
Great video, Ed. I always like your thought provoking “rants”, whether I agree with any point you’re making or not. I had an uncle who was a bus driver in Ayrshire, and had at Times worked out of Ayr, Kilmarnock and Cumnock. He often said he preferred Cumnock, because as he said ‘ it was the best of a bad lot’. His sentiment seems to reflect well on your comment about Ayr. I had a friend too who was a bus driver based in Ayr, and he often complained about the pressure of his route schedules. Anyway, thankyou especially for bringing back some memories -of not only Ayr, but Gibran too.
How did I miss this video Ed ?? Blooming you tube. This is my land and your welcome anytime. You took the hard route up the Byne Hill (Bynie) lol I know you love your history and there’s loads around Girvan. Come back again. Have a pint. Ps did you look under the monument ???
I had a few laughs along with you on this video. I was recently in Ayr and the Stagecoach app told me the stance I needed only to find out it wasn't at that stance at all. Unbelievable that there are no toilet facilities at the bus station. Also, the last three Stagecoach buses I've taken have all broken down (the last one was my return from Ayr). I too have thread veins, I think we're of a similar fine vintage! ps. I loved the wildflower shots
Yes, you do sometimes have to wonder about our transport system. Seems to be a trend for getting rid of bus stations and replacing them with on-street stops, which is not the way to go.
All I have to say on religion is "Thank God I'm an athiest" 🙂 Looked like a great walk, some good views up there. Have you thought about visiting Alsa Craig? You would need to get the pie before crossing though. Hope all is well.
If you think Ayr bus station is bad, try Kilmarnock, which was constructed after the demolition of Duke Street, one of the few handsome thoroughfares in the burgh. A crime for which no-one has been arrested.
So many bus stations in a seriously sorry state. The one in St Andrews is festooned with screens or monitors, none of which work, and passengers have to refer to A4 sheets of paper sellotaped to a wall to find out where and when they catch their bus.
Loved this one. Thanks. True about the decline of bus stations, and well, everything else really. And you had me laughing out loud again with your thoughts on finding spider veins on your chin! Hear, hear about the people causing shame and hurt to women who find themselves needing to use the abortion services. I thought the mix of your song at the end was just great. Perhaps my own hearing is declining since I couldn't make out all of the lyrics Perhaps provide a transcript of song lyrics in the header space? I watched the Roger Waters video recently, and good on him for defending his Art.
@@EdExploresScotland I find it helpful to use the ears / expertise of another, if in doubt. Our mixing ears can get 'tired' after so many hours at it. I couldn't listen to a track for six months once until my 'ears' had 'reset '!
Some interesting thoughts of my own having watched the video. 1 - Your channel was recently suggested to me by an older couple who are devout Christians. 2 - 4:15 - That's a Jewish 'Star of David', isn't it? 3 - 19:45 - It's not 'Joe Public' per se who are up in arms about Roger Waters, it's Jews. 4 - Jews have been historically over-represented in the pro-choice movement. This is a fact they are more than happy to promote. 5 - Rabbinic Judaism openly promotes the hatred of Christians and Christianity. 6 - This comment will likely be deleted and this user blocked.
Many thanks for your comment. That was certainly an unusual star by the roof guttering. It was the plant beside it that surprised me. Too many plants growing on old buildings. Take care.
Aye Ed, these so called Christians with no thought for people who don't agree with their thoughts get right on ma wick. The ingin pies might be a Dundee thing, a plain pie an' an ingin ane anaw . cheers Ed.
So-called Christians who sit by and watch the world go to sh1t without saying boo to a goose get right on mine. Christianity in the main has no balls anymore because it's been emasculated by 'the architects of the modern world' to no longer understand the difference between right and wrong and promote the 'virtue' that one shouldn't call out bad behaviours in case someone who is engaging in them gets offended by that.

Ed recently came across your vlogs. So refreshing to hear someone with a down-to-earth speak as you find delivery. Great views and music.
Thank you.
I've driven through Girvan many times over the decades, but I've never stopped, I feel a little sad after your glowing recomendation ... 😉
It's always nice visiting a place you've either never visited or haven't visited for a while.
Lovely video and cracking song. I've always planned to stop in Girvan and enjoy a wee walk around, used to visit there when I was a kid. Your video reminds me to stop and look.
Girvan sometimes feels like a place we've forgotten about, just some place between Ayr and Stranraer. Always nice to have an ice-cream by the sea.
Great photography/camera work along with a packed video full of good humour & bunting 😂
Well Done Ed. 🫡
* Also - They say “Ingin’s” in Aberdeenshire too! An East Coast thing.
You just can't beat a good bit of bunting. Cheers Graham. 👍
As he walks into the sunset
Nice one Ed
Cheers Roger.

Hi Lynn. Those flowers were awesome. I think the local council sowed a wild flower meadow thing right by the sea. Stunning. Take care.
What a great location to rest and to share your thoughts. I always enjoy your sense of humor. Thanks Ed.
Thanks 👍
I have it on good authority that thread veins on yer chin are caused by not eating enough mutton pies with ingins ! Great video Ed.
Cheers Danny.

your wee travelogs are always entertaining. It make me wonder wtf the BBC need with the dozens of production staff they employ on similar projects.😂
Many thanks. I'm thinking about buying a donkey or mule to carry all my stuff.
Maybe Fearless( Pink Floyd) would have been more apt to end with tho 🤔

Now it's one singer one song...Another good one.
Cheers Charles.
Love girvan ❤ not what it used to be but still fab
Always worth a dander or a day out. 👍
Superb journey Ed, enjoyed the view from the top. Cheers 🍻
Cheers James (I'm going to see if I can get away with just saying 'Cheers' in every reply). 👍

Yes, I think I may have been on my hands and knees at one point; not the best way up. What's under the monument?
A wee book and geocache. You would enjoy the local Hermits cave as well as Sawney beens.
Alright Ed would love to jam that song. Next time u up in fife get in touch.
Great laugh…thanks Eddy 😂

Hi. Yes, that's an interesting thought. Looks like you may be able to get to Ailsa Craig on a ferry from Girvan.

Cheers Eilean. My song mixing skills aren't great. Never know how to properly sit vocals in the mix.

You're absolutely right. The ears do get 'tired' and you lose upper frequencies after a while. Old ears doesn't help either.

Cheers Colin. I never ever thought onions had such a divisive role in the world of pies and bridies.
