Miyazaki’s world has seeped into our own, and I am staring at one of the master’s creations. “Feel like you’re looking in a mirror?” said a familiar voice from the movie screen. Ebert would recognize that face anywhere. A head so shiny, he could almost see his reflection, even through the illusion of light. In fact, he could. He entered the shadow world of Siskel’s head, and together they said goodbye to the Fat Man.
This is the Ben Hur of animated movies. Right down to the lepers being cured at the end. My mom still doesn’t understand it. She will, eventually. This isn’t at all a story of good vs bad. It’s a story of rebirth. About the good in everyone being reborn through the sacrifice of the Forest Spirit. Just like Ben Hur, it might have well have been titled “Princess Mononoke: A Story Of The Christ”.

Also it is completely confirmed that she was pregnant with his kid. And his descendent from her passed down his legend. The movie name was first supposed to be legend of ashikata. That is why he has more screen time then monoke. You can even check the wiki fandom of girl name kaya it is real. The japanese women hated his character for him being a cheater. He was shown as brother to her for the western audience. Go check the fandom page of girl kaya.
So sad to watch Westerners grapple with the idea that cartoons could just maybe NOT be only for children. The mightiest art form of all time and here are two intelligent humans who are utterly amazed that they are capable of connecting with it on every level.

Roger Ebert knew this was one of the great films of our time. He always nailed his reviews, even when others missed a masterpiece staring them in the face.
She was ambitious and willing to leave her people to the samurai trying to gain control of the iron mine and foundry. I wouldn't label her as evil but she definitely wasn't a "good guy."

For some reason I thought I was too old for animated movies when I was about 12 years old. I wasn’t until I around six years ago when I was in my early 30’s that I signed up for Disney’s Movie Club. You get some free blu-ray’s when you sign up and I got a bunch of Studio Ghibli films, which I knew nothing about. They’re really amazing films, I really wish that I saw them when I was a kid.

Spoiler alert!so what was the origins of the demon??? Also, how did ashitaka factor in? Even if he hadn't intervened, the forest spirit would've fucked everyone up until it got it's head. Anyway, I'm gonna see this movie again soon, to get a better grip. There's a lot stuff here.
