- Seen here for the first time in public, footage of a 2012 close call by the crew of an Indian Air Force An-32 transport aircraft that suffered a landing gear emergency. Forced to land with only one main wheel down, this video captures what it looked like from the ground.
The feat won the aircraft's pilot Flt Lt Gunadnya Kharche a Shaurya Chakra in August 2012.

I have been part of a batch of 30 candidates for IAF SSB, even after completing all the five days in SSB IAF selected only one guy.

One thing that save plane from more damage and fire was he turned the wing of the plane towards the mud land instead of goings straight on road that could have ignited fire

Last year they have crashed two mig29 and an AH-64 attack heli.and this month they crashed one mig19. And in this year have 11 month to go.hope yours pilot not gonna crash the

He didn't brake just after landing, he slowly touched his left side down at the same time applied the brakes of the working wheel to balance the friction both sides hence managed to sail forward, then afyer that he released the brakes to steer the aircraft away from the runway using friction of the damaged side

He didn’t steer off from the runway… it is obvious that the deployed gear became a pivot which turned the aircraft, during touchdown in these situations we use minimal to no braking but never think about clearing the runway because in emergencies it’s the endangered aircraft priority to land safely… others can wait in the sky and on ground for departure

I've been to this Air Force station two times, for watching air show, very proud to see this plane landing successfully without any serious damages in sulur airforce station, salute to IAF pilots!🔥
He doesn't even let damage any part of the plane especially right wing that touched the ground, no Spark or ignition what so ever iam sure it was first time experience in his life but Bravo, save plan and life of others surely deserve Shaurya chakra 🇮🇳🙏
The execution was pin point perfect, hats off to the crew.
Bravery and skill demonstrated perfectly . The AN32 being a high wing aircraft with engines mounted on the top did help . Just imagine a low wing plane with props whirring a few feet above ground. That would have been a perfect recipe for disaster.

REQUEST : Please change the title ... its not a "miracle"... it is skill and presence of mind and of course a strong aircraft. Mechanical failures do happen ... GOOD PILOTING is what makes a HAPPY LANDING ... NOT DIVINE INTERVENTION. Some serious flying skills there. Good positive and precise flare ... yaw correction .... the whole performance was 10 on 10.

That’s what I’m talking about, skills and knowing your machines and what they can do for you. And that feeling of, wow, that’s a perfect crash landing I just witnessed.
@Potato people give credit to an idea when they are in fact in total control of the situation. I see his skills. I’m sure he learned them and his god didn’t do a thing about it. It’s a shame people can’t put credit where credit is due. His belief in his skills is the key fact here. No one person saw a hand of god delivering them from a firey crash and yet they give credit to a belief that had nothing to do with it. I say that the pilot was not bothered by any other thoughts other than that which would get them on the ground in one piece. As for me I’d pray to any and every god, for a Second, then focus on the task at hand. What do I know, some times a wrench and a few good thumps and encouraging cuss words may make a machine work that needs it get working, Pilot is an asset to the skills that where used to walk away from this crash. Who ever he gives credit to for the outcome is what is important I think. I’m got a good feeling from watching this video and I’m going to keep it....😊

I was just kidding about parking off the runway. I’m sticking to the saying, any plane crash you walk away from is a good one. Just the way it ended up looking like he was trying to park it there was something that still gives me a good feeling that everyone walks away and appears to be okay.
I’m sure there’s a bunch of ways that could of ended for them. Glad it didn’t have a terrible ending for them all. 🙏 ☮️👉🏻

Потом, садиться надо было на грунт, а не на бетон и сразу после касания флюгировать винты, закрыть пожарные краны и разрядить в двигатели ППС.

it is happen because the stupid design wheell on wings, wheell must put in plane body if the sistem error whell can move with manualy by crew, the best design of turbo propeller plane is cn235 from Indonesia

@@evm6177 I did some digging on this aircraft model used by India and couple of other Ex-Soviet countries. They are pretty old and haven’t been updated with latest tech although the design and structural integrity is great, the internal systems are outdated and thus cripple the aircraft from time to time.
As for the Indian armed forces, they seemed to have tried to update the electronics and software systems but it wasn’t cost effective due to fall out between Russia and Ukraine (these aircraft’s were made in Soviet Ukraine, so the components must be obtained form both parties and they must work together to upgrade these). They are set to retire soon apparently
Pilots are trained for this worst scenario landings . Respect to the pilots .

Well flown guys. Aircrew made a great approach, put the aircraft gently on the runway and used every scrap of lift and control available to them. Eventually physics is going to bite and you will be reduced to a passenger, until that time you mitigate the consequences with what have at your disposal. This crew pulled off an excellent emergency landing. Congratulations, I'd fly with them.

Pilots are trained for this in Sims but when situation demands it takes balls to perform. Kudos to both pilots flying and monitoring.

Indian air force pilots seems to be a group of great airman. A little while ago i saw a video of an mil helicopter that got a big plastic tarp in its rotors. Great control and a safe landing. Just like this one! Awesome job! I also met an IAF C-130 captain on fairford a couple of years ago, nice fellow even better storys and he was 15 years younger then the plane he was piloting! Great memories!

The pilot has done a good job, immediately after landing he diverted it into sand, because there the friction would be low & as aswell the plane speed will be reducex
He didn't divert it, due to the left wing touching the ground, the aircraft changed its direction on its own...

An32 is a great aircraft. Very well designed. Rugged workhorse . Well flown too. It was specially designed for India. Following on the An26.... the AN32 is A silent hero of the Indian Air Force. And it looks like it can fly again after some minor repairs.

Man this is so incredibly awesome!! This is even heavier than those Boeings !! We saw him dumping fuel to reduce extra stress on the gears and we saw the landing with minimal destruction possible but we never see how he done this!!

Full on intelligence. He emptied the fuel tank flying in mid air so that there is no explosion is the landing don't go right. This is what should be taught to all future pilots on how to take care of those flying dragons and tame them.
