no way 38 people gave this a thumb down.. must be 1 person that made 38 accounts because this person doesn't like fishing.."theres magic in the mountains, rivers, trees, the birds and the bees" and i'de say theres "magic" in your videos to Quinn.. thank you for sharing your talent's for fishing and making these videos
My 9 yr. old grandson, loved this. I showed him the part all serious about the magic of nature, he loves it too, and then you threw in the pickle being magical and he lost his shit. It was so cute. Love the message, love the humor. You reach all ages and speak to us all. He and I, find, forage, and replant traditional medicines.
Thank you for this video...I live in Chicago and have lake Michigan as my back yard. I have a searay on this inland sea and I'm still learning this nauticle thing and then there is this fishing thing. Last spring per some boat neighbors advise said to troll with these thin fins in the spring. So I bring out 40 year old retired fishing poles from my grandparents collection I still have as a keepsakes, and so me and my 9 year old daughter did just that and caught coho. So here I am today wanting more and discovering steelhead and kings which run in our tributaries and although I can't explain it, you're video does just that. A day off and a cup of coffee and good friends etc. World off and FISH ON!!! I am just a beginner and can't afford simms waders or the finest rods or a trip to Canada to fish, but we get by with frogtoggs and a rod and reel combo on sale at cabelas...I will use your information and pass it on to my children and respect these fish and perhaps someday may they bring out my retired 40 year old fishing gear. maybe one day our paths will cross. TIGHT LINES CAPT QUINN!!!
Beautifully Done! Soon it will be January and I will again fish for Steelhead in the Smith River in Northern California. A wild river with no dams in a temperate rainforest not unlike what you experience except the float trip is through the most beautiful forest on earth. Fish or not, a day on a wild river in the Redwoods will restore your soul like a day in church. I understand.
I mean a bad day fishing is always better than a good day at work!! Would love to get out west that looks so breathtaking I would have to remind myself I'm here to fish
Captain Vlasic - awesome! And you're right - nobody gets out of this life alive. Make your time here on this cosmic marble count! And don't leave without making a difference.....................someplace......................to someone!
Most inspiring fly fishing film since A River Runs Through It! lol Great job guys. Makes me we wanna buy a camper and quit my job. The music really fit well and the message made me more emotional than I like to get at work around my buds. Just a great flick and great message. I wish you all another day of good fishing and at least one more cast after that and another and another one after that. You know how it goes!
Damn that looks like me when I was just a wee lad. Video came close to the heart. Fishing is so much more than a day at the river. The memories of fishing with friends and family out weigh the fish.
Cap you are an inspiration man, living in North Central WA we have so many fish to chase after but with steelhead looming in the balance in our waters it brings me hope to know there are some fisherman out there not in it for "glory" or "recognition", but for the adventure, start to release and all the stories and emotions in between! In it for the fish, I love filming and always pick up tips from your films. And more important i gain a greater appreciation for the environment that fly fishing draws me to. Envelope yourself in the outdoors, and you can truly find tranquility and find yourself. Can't wait to get out and get lost on the river! Tight lines from a avid follower, and fellow fly fisherman!
Another great doc Captain Quinn. You definitely got a formula figured out..and I say this on a almost four year old video. But so true. Love the little funny parts you add.
Absolutely LOVED this video! It inspired me. I was looking for some tips on fly fishing for Steelhead, but this went much more to a deeper level. It touched my heart. Thank you for putting it out there.
Great vids. I got three little ones and my oldest 6yo is starting to get into fishing. Spend time doing what you love with those you love. That's bang on. So true. Great work.
Just burnt out last week and lost my job(same day we lost gordie, a real double whammy) after 10 years of carpentry and roofing. I realised my kids are growning up way too fast and I'm too tired and stressed to enjoy life so ya, I think I'm gonna get out fishing more, time for some healing. Thanks so muck for this film, had a good laugh, got inspired and maybe even a little misty eyed
Very inspiring video captain it was a very fitting video to begin my morning. Some fellow friends and avid anglers and I are planning on going fishing this morning for steel in 3 feet of snow. First thing I'm doing is sending this to my father who is in the hospital having knee surgery after a bad skiing accident. Hes saved thousands of fish and particularly on this river we are fishing and I'm proud to call him my dad. Glad to seen this this morning and cheers with a big cup of coffee from Vancouver Island. Tight lines!
Awesome video, tried steelhead fly fishing last fall on a solo mission to Kispiox, rained for three days, broke my new spey rod,and didnt catch any but determined to go again. Going to try the Copper this time to see somewhere else I have never been. The adventure is half the fun (was the only fun last time) maybe pickles for breakfast is the key. Thanks for the inspiration and education!!!
Boy am I glad I stumbled onto this video. Really touching. Touching for anyone, and possibly even more so for me as a fellow avid fly fishermen. I live in Pennsylvania where the Steelhead fishing is extremely pressured and Salmon practically don't exist in the state's water but I always take time to go up to my Camp and trout fish at my favorite river which keeps the brook trout fat and healthy, even if they aren't wild ones. This video really inspired me. Great stuff, really great stuff. The message was the absolute best part and the words you used to deliver it really spoke to me.
Adam Grasinger thanks for the message. I am really happy to hear that you enjoyed this film and that you have a passion for fishing :) Stay in touch-Captain Quinn
Dude keep doing this! You are an awesome angler and should have your own show. My goal is to retire to B.C.. I steelhead fish every weekend in PA, OH, and NY. Keep up the fantastic footage!
From all of us Morlocks left behind in cities made of glass and steel, were pickles are only something you find on the top of your burger. We salute you Captain Quinn thanks for an awesome look into the way life should be lived, where time is a distance measured by choice and from the looks of it you made the right one. My father once told me when I was young that the best HEAD was STEELHEAD. I will most definitely share your thoughts with others tight lines from the fishinmusician :)
FYI, cucumbers are fruit, of the non-sweet variety. Regardless, I thoroughly enjoyed pickles and this short film. The visuals are stunning and inspiring. It's obvious that many hours were devoted to editing this gem. Thank you much.
I live in BC now, the Lower Mainland. I should come up for a visit and do some steelhead fishing up there. This whole thing is new to me though will have to get into it, looks great, epic!
A few years ago I subscribed to your channel...probably have watched em all 3 times or more...This is hands down my favorite video in all of RUclips ...and trust me i've watched a bunch of Steelhead vids...Your my inspiration...Trying to get back into Trucking where I'm sure I will fish many beautiful locations in this Country...Your scenery is going to be hard to beat tho my friend...Good luck in your many adventures to come...Looking forward to them all...
+Michael Iglewski Thanks so much for your wonderful comment and I am very happy to hear that we share passions for fishing. I hope to meet you on the river someday :)
Captain Quinn, you are truly inspirational. The poetry, the humour and especially the fish. Encouraging to love and be in nature the way I long to explore. To push boundaries and reach new fishing heights. Ive been fishing Brooke's and steelhead on the east coast of canada and would be more than extatic to meet you or run into you the day I visit BC. Can't express the inspirational feeling your stir. It is a pleasure to have found your channel. Thank you. Robert
Been meaning to subscribe for a while. Glad I did. Your attitude isn't unlike my own. The fish are just bigger. I'm correcting that as we speak. Thanks.
I think I'm hooked! Very inspirational! Would love to visit someday. Fortunately I'm in Idaho so I still get to enjoy the freedom of mostly clean rivers, lakes, wildlife, mountains, trees, solitude & serenity of this life. I will be laid to rest in the mountains no doubt. I just hope that the generations after us opens their eyes & realize what we have before it turns into a road, housing community, city or any other concrete formation man thinks is necessary! #1 necessity is nature for me! I admire your fight bro, cheers
Dude your gifted fur sure... an d I thought I had to tell you if your having problems pooing just put your waders on that’ll help.... but it was the pickles hahaha funny on me👌🤙👏 thanks for the pure simple truth... pickles and steelhead!!!’ 🥃
Wowed by the simplicity of it all. You had me at the beginning and clinched my pickle when you said nor laws should limit us.... that’s the shizzo I live by.. loved your first sip of coffee look 😆wish it did that fur me still. Keep up your short movies and always stay cool and NEVER cut that hair!!👌
Love your videos Captain!! If you're ever thinking about heading out to the Olympic Peninsula here in WA state let me know. I'll bring a few jars of pickles! keep the vids coming because they do indeed inspire.
Nathan B Thanks! I would love to fish the Olmpic Peninsula and will drop you a line if/when I can make it over :) Take care and stay in touch, Captain Quinn
Love the videos QUINN, been a long time subscriber, many thanks for the videos an words, like i've always looked at, fly fishing is a washing machine for the brain. forget the world and problems, dismiss the worries, its the cast the moment of being there.
Wonderful video! I've watched about four of your films and everyone of them is on a higher plane than most any other fly fishing video. I can't agree more about your comments and narrative in this video. Enjoy what you love to do, whenever you can do it. I have been fortunate to have had a great working life, fished my ass off for forty years, and now been retired for eleven years and fish at least 100 days a year for wild trout, steelhead, and big 18" - 20" smallmouth.
Excellent video! So very true, and messages are spot on. I'm in Idaho, and I refer to the river as "my church", it recharges my soul and people who do not fish....just don't understand connecting with nature on the level fly fisherman do. Keep the videos coming as I share them with friends quite often. We quote "Shit Fisherman Say" lines EVERY outing and we love ya Captain Quinn! If ever in Idaho we will supply pickles and housing!
@captainquinn this is a great video. Love the edit, made me feel like I was along for the adventure. Nothing beats a tight line with the beautiful scenery of nature. keep slaying em brother, stay free.

Captain, Thanks for sharing your amazingly inspirational life!
This has to be the best commercial for pickles that I have ever seen. If they don't sponsor you after this well I just don't know what I will do...
Hahahaha-still working on them...Sponsorship is hard when you look like me ;)
This inspiring and awesome all at once. I love the bit at 15:35. Truer words were never spoken. Thanks Captn.
