No longer sleek, aerodynamic almost pointed original AJ that made them versatile for any occasion. Now a chunky lifestyle shoe that bends like a banana. Always thought this is because many ppl used to complain about Nike being too narrow for them, now they make shoes wider to appeal to a more widespread worldwide customer base.
Copped a pair of ‘06 Cardinal Retros last year for $100. Very beautiful pair, and they held up well for (now) 14 years. A little bit of crease at the toes, and some slight paint chipping at the midsoles, but otherwise a clean and wearable pair. I like the added detail of the gold lace tips, would be nice to have on the OG’s. ‘02-‘11 was a great era for Retro 7’s.
If you notice the retro midsole VII's bubbles out on the heel compared to the 92 pair. When it comes to midsole swapping, you won't be able to use the 92 outsole because it'll be too short to align properly with the donor midsole. I saw on niketalk a user used a flexible caulk to replace the polyurethane that crumbled on the OG's instead of midsole swapping
Flexible caulk is a band-aid fix and not recommended if you plan to wear the shoes. A midsole swap, with dremel modifications for fitment would be the ideal situation in which a professional restorer should be able to administer.
I just got a pair of 92 Bordeaux's. The handtag says made in Taiwan, the production date is 910911FT2 and they have 2 laceholes. I also have 92 Cardinals, and they're handtag production date is 920709FT2 and they have 3 laceholes. So mine are from the same factory, different production years and have a different number of laceholes.

Platinum(pure money 7) simple off white/silver metalic peaks/jumpman with chrome lace tips, such a good looking shoe and goes with everything. Every other GR release has just been a mishmash of loud colors. That’s whole OG colorways and simple/attractive color ways are so sought after/keep value.
Glue is probably dried up so if that’s the case walking on hot asphalt, the soles may separate. The 10 year mark is usually the time shoes start to degrade. These are great condition though!
My 02 Charcoals aka Raptors are still good money, no separation at all so you might be good with the 06 cardinals but you might have to be easy on the pull tab in the back. The plastic 23 logo might cracks. Mines are starting to crack.
If you want to wear it, you would need to find a recent release that would be suitable as a donor. There are videos on how to sole swap JORDAN 7s if you want to do it yourself or find an appropriate restore guy. Trying flippin_kickz on Instagram

I ask because every photo I see of the 92 Raptor 7s seem like the have Charcoal color-blocking on the Nubuck Upper similar to the DMP Pack Raptor 7s from 09'. I want to cop but I'm not sure if I should go with the DMP version or the 2012 Retro because I prefer all my Jordans to be representative to OG pairs when MJ wore them.
Black and dark grey or charcoal. The 2012 is all black. I don't own the 2012 or the DMP but a simple google search of photos should give you your answers.

The 7 was inspired by Tinker walking by a record shop and seeing an Afropop Worldwide image in the window. Has a bunch of African inspired artwork and so that’s how that design process started. Tying it in with MJ he was becoming to be known as a worldwide sports hero and the 7 broke through. Especially with the Olympics and the Dream Team that year.

$125.00 in 1992 is the same as $249.00 in 2022. To give you an idea of just how bad inflation has been in 2021 under Obiden, the shoes in 2020 only cost in 2020 dollars $230.00. That's an increase of 8% in just over one year. No other year since 1992 has there been an increase in inflation by 8%. Lets go Brandon!

The foam on my raptors are still plush and reliable. Just a lil cracking on the tabs but those can be replaced if i really cared about em

Not wearable. You'll most likely need a reglue and possibly a sole swap since the interior is polyurethane with an encapsulated air unit.

I wouldn’t risk it unless you have a plan in place for a sole swap.
Don’t just the inside of the shoe the air unit isn’t that the only thing that cracks because the midsole is phylon and you can reglue it
The inside caves in and so you wouldn’t be able to just straight reglue it with the same midsole. It would need an entirely new midsole.
