Wow I might buy this amazing combat knife to put in my man purse in case I'm attacked by a gang of bricks.
one of the best knives out there!
Man,
I’ve had mine for over 20 years…
It’s not the strongest knife but for appropriate jobs it’s amazing.
Not all knives are made to be hit by rocks.
i had mine for 6 minutes!!
@@joex 🤣😂🤣

I have my 2 Opinels n⁰6 for over 2 years, but I never used them haha
@@joexmogłeś od razu zacząć go łamać. Czemu miał służyć ten durny test?
İ had mine for 10 years and use it everyday. I sharpen it almost every ten days, blade is a little bit thin now but it still works fine.
First thing I do when I see Joe has a new video is check how long it is. If it’s a 6 minute video , you know it ain’t gonna end well 😂😂
haha, true story!!
a whole new benchmark for knives. joe x factor measured in minutes a knife will survive. so factor 1 is 1minute and so on.
@@Kalle_Anka haha🤣🤣
the stainless no8 just 3mins 🤣
I have an Opinel No.9, and after cleaning up the factory edge with a Gatco Tri-seps sharpener, you could shave your face with it. I have about 30 knives and besides my Espada XL, it's the one that makes me fear for my fingers the most. It cuts through leather, cardboard, foam rubber, rope, and radiator hoses like butter. It's the sharpest knife I've ever owned. There is just something about their old style carbon steel recipe, it will sharpen to a fine edge like a razor.
it is sharpt, thats for sure!!!
Opinel’s are for the most part picnic and cheese knives. Thin blades in high carbon. If they advertised as survival knives, I could see this test. You should have extreme picinic-ed; you know, hard cheeses, as opposed to Brie; hard crusted breads, as opposed to normal Wonder bread; maybe cut citrus fruits.
it is still shit!
Pocket knives are cutting tools. Most are not meant to be run through tail lights or pounded against steel and stone.
Opinel carbon steel knives are cheap, sharpen to a razor in minutes and are some of the best culinary tools you can take to a campsite.
I respect these videos in the right context: when dishing-out punishment as a test for tactical/battle blades, but not when testing a $20 pocket folder.
awesome!
Gui-Texzan
I have to agree with that.
Putting a Opinel through a destruction test....
What is expected? Anyone with two brain cells knows the outcome.
Yes! Iv cleaned deer and bear with my opinels harvest my own meat birds. Cutting up food of any kind they are awesome. They cut through hoses, garden plants. That's what they should be tested doing. Everyone knows u can't beat an opinel on bricks and car lights.
But I still love too watch haha 0:30 :😜
I have two Opinel knives a no8 and a no10. Love them. Definitely not made for killing cars and crushing bricks. I’ll keep that in mind. I have a Hultafors GK for that lol
awesome!
yeaahhh dont kill your car with knives
Nice. These destruction tests provide a great service. I would like to see you test the Kabar Dozier Folding Hunter knife and the Ontario Knife "Camp Plus" Folding Chef/Santoku Knives. I think those would be interesting to find out the true durability.
Great video! How about testing out a fiskars axe in the future, it would be interesting. Stay strong my dude!
tested the X10 already, check my vids!! thanks!
Ciao Joe x. It is a good knife in my opinion. I don't know Why, but sometimes I get up in the morning and I need something like this, made by natural materials, simple, light. Now I'm using a traditional slip joint, for example.
If I'm attacked by zombies or aliens, I'll use my karate.
if yout think so!
I have a sebenza 31, and I still use my Opinel No. 10 Corkscrew as a picnic knife. It serves its purpose very well.
cool!
Yes, i like my opinel, good cheap knife for every days work, but not really ment for hard tasks. The blade is quite sensitive, i dont know, is it because of the thin geometry or the the steel rather on the soft side...
it brakes too easy!
Hahaha, I knew this would be a short video! I'm glad I don't bbq my steaks as tough as concrete, otherwise, my No10 wouldn't cut it.
yeah!
Thinking about trading my entire cold steel collection for one of these guys - it can do everything and more. No wonder Opinel translates to 'Tank'!
haha, good idea!
No Opinel doesn't translate anything. It's just a family name
Never stood a chance! Lol great job as always my brother!
thanks a lot my friend!

Can you test falkniven f1X please?
So, if you carry this make sure you carry the Cold Steel 4 Max Scout as a backup.

It is an more than 100 years design.. you can't compare with an modern knife.. also if it will be more thicker behind the edge with an 25-30 degree per side and 4-5mm thick you will have different results...
for an 100 years old knife it did pretty ok!!
@@joex actually it is 132 years old model .. made for simple farming man's. It is something vintage. It is like comparing an steam engine car with an modern military 4x4.
its weakness is its design, its slicer not heavy duty knive. Take some fancy steel of this design and it will be almost the same (sligtly better).

This is not a survival knife. I have several sizes, both carbon and stainless steel versions and works fine because, well, I am not trying to carve stones with them.

Despite her noisy and chubby appearance, that Xylocopa violacea is not more dangerous than a regular honey bee. Getting stung by them is not so easy because they are lonely and not territorial animals, they don't have an hive with several "sisters" but they live alone in some holes into wood branches or logs.

Lady little baby knife :-), but also for man, for easy using, great carbon steel with grind for prety good cutting food. Of course not for destruction tests. Price is good, lock mechanism no..., handle quite shit.

Nobody's knife could survive all that
i am NOBODY
I dont like opinels, not because it cant handle being beat on a rock. But because the handle swells then the blade gets stuck and you cant open or lock the stupid thing. Rather just by some $2 paring knife.

I once slightly bent an old Opinel knife cutting cold butter. These knives would never last in a survival situation.
100 % agree, "while cutting butter" thats such a bad knife!
While I'm not doubting your experience, that doesn't sound all that right. I've had to use my no. 6 for boxes when I forgot my box cutter and while being smaller than I'd like for cardboard it cut through easy. They're decent pocket knives, just not meant for heavier tasks

I use it all the time, there is no better knife for cutting
Opinels are like little laser beams that are insanely thin behind the edge. They are not for anything but fine accurate cutting. The tip of opinel is just about the thinnest piece of metal I have and could probably do surgery with it
