Thanks for being here on my ME/CFS, Long Covid, Chronic Lyme, and related chronic illness recovery channel! Josh and Joe couldn't be two more authentic dudes, and I'm so honored I got to share their story and their hard-won wisdom. I love their message of taking our power back, and resonate with their principles of healing - most of which were what I used to heal myself. I also am inspired by one of their principles, that I hadn't necessarily fully recognized before (the facing fears and purpose section of our chat). And thanks again Josh and Joe -- what you're creating is AWESOME.

I LOVE THIS SO MUCH! Mold illness, no thyroid, long Covid, but I know I am healing. The mind is so so so powerful!

Oh man, the food thing is so real. Went low histamine over a year ago when I was having mast cell reactions and still working on the mental hurdles of reincorporating foods into my diet. Totally agree that a "safe setting" makes a huge difference when the time comes to reincorporate foods. It's not easy, but thankfully my love of chocolate is a strong motivator to keep me working on it.

    Liz,
Every time I hit rock bottom and start losing hope that I am ever going to get better or even be able to function.. you post a wonderful video like this that gives me hope another day. I have been bedridden for so many years .. and housebound.. and just so depressed because I keep getting worse and not any better.. and then you post another video of someone else who has made it through or is in the process of making it through, and it inspires me to keep trying. I used to have so much support but now I don't have any at all. My husband - who was my rock and my greatest support - died unexpectedly last year. He was my best friend and the only one who really gave me any comfort during this battle. As you can imagine, the stress and extreme grief of such a horrific experience has brought my health down to an all time low. Like this guy here, I wanted to die. Lyme, MCAS, and mold is terrible enough all on its own - but having the grief of losing your entire world on top of all that.. it is beyond words. He was not only my husband but my caretaker. It has just been an indescribable journey of pain. But .. through it all, your videos and interviews give me the glimmer of hope that I need to keep going and keep trying yet another day. Thank you for that. God bless you for that. One day, I hope and pray that I can be on the other side of this "valley of the shadow of death" .. I pray that I will one day make it through as you did.. and I hope that some day I will be the one in the interview sharing my story with you. Thank you again.

I am so touched by your message. My heart goes out to you Sue Ana. I am so sorry you lost your wonderful supportive husband and rock. I am sending you my deepest support, recognizing what grief you've been through, and encouragement for today and your path ahead. I am also putting out into the universe that you'll be sharing your story - and yes we can surely celebrate the finish line, but it starts when we pick ourselves up at our rock bottoms, and I am just celebrating you today for doing that and I believe in you. Sending love and healing energies.

If your Christian or open to it, I'd get ahold of Be In Health Ministries, and read the book 'A More Excellent Ways'. There have been so many people in your exact position who were just as sick as you are and are healed and thriving today. There is hope.

Great Presentation! I believe CHRONIC STRESS is one of the most important factors as to why people develop MCAS, Long COVID, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ME, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Lyme Disease, and POTS.
Loss of a Loved One, Divorce, Loss of a Job/Financial Security, a Traumatic Accident or Childhood Event, Surgery, or Athletic Overtraining are all examples of Chronic Stress. But one of the WORST Chronic Stresses is if you Believe you will get Very Sick or Die from an illness. A Type-A High Achiever/Perfectionist Personality typically will place healthful activities, such as getting a proper night’s sleep, as secondary to accomplishments. Type A’s will often want to quickly resume work and exercise, rather than rest and fully recover.
An acute infection, such as COVID-19, can be merely the Trigger to the complete breakdown of an ALREADY Compromised Immune System from Chronic Stress. Once the breakdown occurs, secondary infections of other viruses (such as Epstein-Barr Virus), bacteria, molds, protozoans, and parasites that were FORMERLY being held in remission will now resurface. There is also little innate Immune System response to stop any NEW infections. The exacerbation of the effects of Environmental Toxins, Autoimmune Diseases, Allergies, and other Comorbidities may further complicate the disease and make it unique to almost EVERY Long Hauler! 🙀
Chronic Stress suppresses the Immune System and Digestion, making it more likely to develop Immune System dysfunctions, such as MCAS, and poor absorption of essential nutrients, leading to deficiencies that can cause issues like Leaky Gut.
A deficiency in B-Complex Vitamins can lead to Leaky Gut as well as a Leaky Blood/Brain Barrier. A leaky BBB will allow pathogens and foreign proteins into the Brain, where they may cause inflammation, leading to Disautonomia, Brain Fog, Loss of Memory, Headache, Depression & Anxiety, Chronic Fatigue, and other neurological symptoms.
Deep Sleep is the ONLY Time the waste products of inflammation and normal metabolism are removed from the Brain, so reduction of Chronic Stress to allow a Good Night’s Sleep is important for treatment. Typically, a Change in Attitude is required to reduce Chronic Stress and disrupt the endless repetition of negative thoughts.
LifeWithKyle discusses how he uses Meditation to Calm his Nervous System and diminish Long COVID symptoms during a relapse. He offers Guided Meditations SPECIFIC to Long COVID.
Fasting is a good Lifestyle Change to help restore integrity to the Gut and Blood/Brain Barrier. It gives the intestines a rest from Digestion, allowing energy to be focused on Repair. Fasting is a Stress on the Body, and like Exercise, should be approached gradually. You should start with Time-Restricted Eating, gradually reducing the time of your Daily Feeding Window until you are comfortable eating within an 8 hour or less Feeding Window. From there, you can attempt a 24 hour or Multi-Day Fast. Don’t be discouraged if you end a Fast early. You can try again on another Day.
Fasting will be easier if you follow a Healthy Low Carb, Whole Food Ketogenic Diet. Dr. Eric Berg can show you how to begin. Eliminating Grains and consuming Nutritional Yeast, a great source of B-Complex Vitamins, along with supplementing Vitamin B1, will help to restore Intestinal and Blood/Brain Barrier integrity.

Some people have found Corticosteroids, such as Prednisone, can offer relief from Long COVID symptoms. The problem is Prednisone can produce bad side effects. Dr. Berg offers a natural alternative in the video, “A Natural Prednisone or Steroid Protocol.” It involves vitamin D3, B5, and C in large doses. It is claimed to help calm down inflammatory immune responses without the deleterious side effects of Prednisone.

Many Long Haulers are fit, Elite Athletes - UltraMarathoners, Triathletes, Competitive Bikers, Rock Climbers, etc. I’ve heard several Doctors who treat Long COVID patients remark on this fact. I propose CHRONIC STRESS is the Root Cause of Long COVID, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Lyme Disease, MCAS, and POTS.
Chronic Stress may result from Loss of a Loved One, Divorce, Loss of a Job/Financial Security, a Traumatic Accident or Childhood Event, or a Surgery. But People fail to recognize Athletic OVERTRAINING is also a Chronic Stress.
When you Exercise, the Muscles, Tendons, and Bones of your Body are broken down. Your Body repairs and strengthens them during the Recovery Period to adapt to the increased Stress. However, if you start Exercising again before Complete Recovery, you just continue the breakdown of your Body, leaving you susceptible to disease and injury.
The Chronic Stress of Overtraining suppresses the Immune System and Digestion, leading to Immune System dysfunction and Nutritional Deficiencies, due to lack of proper absorption. Though the Overtraining Athlete appears Fit on the outside, it masks internal problems. The acute COVID-19 infection is merely a Trigger, resulting in the complete breakdown of an ALREADY Compromised Immune System.
Your typical Overtraining Athlete is often a Type-A Overachiever/Perfectionist Personality who forgoes getting a Full Recovery or a Good Night’s Sleep in pursuit of Athletic Achievement. These are also the ones who are susceptible to Long COVID.
The key to maximizing athletic performance is to become a Student of Recovery after Exercise, maximizing Deep Sleep, and following proper nutrition to Optimize the Immune System, and keep Blood Glucose and Insulin at lower, more optimal levels.

I was so OCD about my diet and remained sick. I began to stop dieting and loosened up a lot! I started eating Oreos and whatever food I want. I healed eating Oreos. When fasting or changing diet too drastic I personally would feel more triggered and my symptoms would worsened because my nervous system was out of comfort zone.

Omg that is what i did too! My diet was so strict for 1,5 years. Yes the inflammation was less and the aches also but it didnt heal me. So i let go of the diet. And made homemade food. I ate cookies, sugar and gluten. I went from 50 to 70% functionality 😂!

@@justbecauseican1410 YES!!! love it! people think im lying when I said it was a breakthrough for me to eat unhealthy lol. I gained weight but was able to recover from long covid. Losing weight or being gut healthy I believe is a later phase once healed.

@@Roberto-Escobar I know how you feel! For me it felt like a restriction. I ate so clean and my ns didnt heal. I just managed the inflammation. I allow myself to eat what I want now. But I naturally eat healthy anyway. But i stayed away from gluten diary and sugar and now i added it back but in a balanced way. If i want a cookie i will have one. And i enjoy the damn cookie ^^. And i have a social life now. I can go to restaurants and i dont have to worry.

Messing with the law of attraction and stuff like that is actually something ive noticed can cause chronic illness in people. You never want to mess with that stuff...it comes with a cost. Definatley something God can forgive and repair, but don't go down that path it doesn't end well for many.

Halfway in and when dudes start talking about 'living life while being sick ' and not being super specific how to achieve that, I know that there is yet another program to be sold. I'm gonna watch the rest but I'm gonna be surprised if that's not gonna be the case.

    • @HealwithLiz
      @HealwithLiz  9 месяцев назад

Hey Djuna, thanks for your comment. I and I believe Joe and Josh would agree that support groups can be very validating, especially in the beginning. They currently run their own group support focused on recovery. But we were specifically talking about the support groups that banish you for sharing hope for recovery, who are mainly focused on the latest supplement or drugs and venting about symptoms. Everyone with chronic illness deserves support. It depends on where you're at in term of what support is right for you and what kind of support is toxic depending on where you're at. For instance a very positive type of group might be toxic for someone desperately craving validation (like some brain retraining group programs can be). A typical activist run support group focused on symptoms and drugs might be toxic for people who really want to focus on self-healing. Josh and Joe have given me the vibe and the people I know who are in their group as uplifting, validating, and mostly positive and encouraging. They aren't about toxic positivity, but are far from activist groups. I think it's beautiful and powerful that Josh was a former Lyme activist leader and has shifted to help others take their power back. Sending a big hug and support your way and thanks for watching and reading.
