- May 10th 2001 - Finbar Furey is a man of great musical passion and innovation - a pioneer and a champion of Irish music. His singing and songwriting have been described as 'The Gospel' which he has spread across the world.
TV3 Archive should be ashamed of themselves cutting Finbar as he was singing
Proud to be Irish when you have fellow countrymen like this
anyone else notice 2 of his finger nails are painted white?? ps i love this man
I am glad I went to my Grandfathers home country Ireland. I never met him, but wish I had.
You Irish are beautiful people, and I love this type of music, with Finbar being my favourite.
Greetings from an Afrikaans admirer from South Africa.
Irish fought with the Boers back in the day, Transvaal.
@@derekobeirnes482 Yes they, did, and we Boers salute them for it.
Great story, could listen to more of his stories. I was one of those who helped the song in the charts in England when I was a young boy. The song captivated me. My old man was a Waterford man but I didn’t get there til my late twenties and I fell in love with the place, the people, everything.
I go to Waterford 3 times a year its buetfull. paddy from Belfast Ireland.
Love his wonderful music! I am so so so proud of my Irish Ancestry!

A beautiful song, murdered by the far too heavy reverb applied by the TV studio!
Great
Fin at is a class man
Finbar is speaking fondly about Jim. Who is he talking about?
He is talking about jim hand who managed the fureys and the dubliners and paddy reilly in the early days. Jim was responsible for the fureys putting out sweet sixteen as a single which was hugely successful for them.
@@martymartin2894 Thank you
Brilliant finbar a credit to your family Tipp fan xxx
He's a great man.. He looks an awful lot younger here than he does now, and this wasn't that long ago.. Fair play to him, he still has it, you should check out his version of "Galway Shawl" and "Sweet Sixteen" from RTE's Late Late Show, they were only recorded this year (or last year not sure).. He can still conjure up the same magic with his beautiful banjo playing and soulful singing.. All the best Finbar, from David, your big fan in Longford, Éire.
It was 16 years ago
I just wish they had let him finish the song. It sounds lovely. what a brilliant guy he is.
Thank you for sharing this
