    Thats cool alot of work and a big setup but cool. lube the slider real good and even go ahead and weld a top on alot of the slide then you can put a loader on it like a triangle reverse so they all drop down to the top can load up like 20-30 at a time in a reverse triangle you can use even some of that cheap fencing from the big box stores to automatically feed that sucker would be really cool! Good Job man I like the DIY ideas behind that.

    • @chud327
      @chud327  7 лет назад

      Great suggestions and it now has a 17 can magazine mounted to it. Thanks for watching. BTW, funny name.

      LOL ya it was aimed at youtube for trying to make me put my first and last name. But ya i saw the next video or so where you added the automatic feeder to it. The one i saw it went straight up but imagine like a track that has fall on an angle for gravity so you dont have to load it so high and can even put more in it. I like the entire automatic setup you have even just the crusher running off the motor really cool.

    you should try adding a can holder on the top to stack cans in so you can turn it on once and reapeatedly crush cans

    You need a way to keep the motor running but not crush until you flip a switch or push a button. Your crush channel will last longer, and it will be easier to load. Perhaps you could get an idea from old stamping presses.

      @chud327  7 лет назад

    Awesome build. I am building a gas can crusher!. I am using a briggs 5s gas engine. What size pulleys are you running? Any idea what rpms you are running @ the flex plate?

    • @chud327
      @chud327  9 лет назад +1

      +Jim Hoeky I will have go out and measure the pulleys, but I would guess the flex plate turn about 80 time a minute. I would rather it turn about 60, but it is ok for now. How far along is your build? I would like to see it, are yoyo building a build video?

    • @jimhoeky1497
      @jimhoeky1497 9 лет назад

      l have been talking about building one for a few months now.... A winter project. l have most of my parts laying around my garage. A craftsmans electric motor 3450 rpms or the briggs engine. l like the briggs better something different. l welded a lovejoy to my flexplate and mounted on the briggs engine it was way too fast. lm working on my pulley sizes and engine rpms right now. Ill probably have to buy pillow block and a shaft.

    • @chud327
      @chud327  9 лет назад

      I am not sure what a lovejoy is, but everything else was crystal clear. I took a couple of years to build mine. I did a little and let it sit a while and then I finished it. As for my pulleys, all I have is the timing chain and gears and the flex plate. My biggest gear reduction was in that gear box. It probably tells the rotation, seems like the motor turns 1750 and the gear box reduced it 30:1. 1750 divide by 30 would have been 58 rpms. that would have been perfect, but I could get my numbers forgotten... Your gas Briggs does sound cool and different.

      I was going to say the same thing about the auto loader, you should just put them in a high container with a ramp and they should just fall one by one or something like that haha, this guy is a genius btw. :) greetings from Ecuador.

    chud327 i love your can crusher, i wish i had one i have a ton of cans to crush and my arms are hurting and so are my feet from crushing cans. : ( do you sell plans to make this machine? if so please let me know so i can order some, i would love to try and built this to crush all my cans, plus it gives a disabled man like myself something to do. any help is appreciated thank you. oh that one piece of metal you said you might use for an extra boat tire, i think it would be better for a safety loop. safety first, well that's my opinion. have a great day/night happy holidays to you and your family and a happy new year

    • @chud327
      @chud327  9 лет назад +3

      +Jay C I don't have plans for this machine, I don't know where you would get all the materials. I have a collection of metals that took a long time to collect and it has a lot of odd pieces. I guess what I am saying is this is a very custom build. I bet there are other crushers out there with plans that would be easier to replicate and probably work better. Thanks for the comment and for watching and especially for the holiday wishes. Merry Christmas to you too.

      thanks for replying friend. my father has alot of old junk and metal that i could probably use, if you come around some plans on the net can you message me here so i can get them? I've been searching with no luck but I'm not giving up just yet, i would really like to make one but i need to know where to start so I'll keep looking. Keep up the good work You're Awesome I wish i could come up with a design like that but i'll keep trying and see what i come up with . I'll keep you posted. thanks again happy holidays to you my friend.

    What HP is your motor I'm working on a dual can crusher out of a old belt and pulley grinder but my brand new motor I have is a 3450 RPM motor and it's way to fast I have a 1000 RPM motor but it is a 1/6 of a hp and I doubt it could handle it? And what is your motors RPM rate?

    • @chud327
      @chud327  9 лет назад +1

      +Cody McLean I think mine is a 1750 but that is a serious gear reduction. I think the final ration is about 2 rpm after you factor in the gear reduction and the timing chain and gears. You can use the 3450 but you will need a bunch of pulleys and or gears to slow that baby down. 1000 rpm and 1/6 hp could possibly work. If you half the speed 6 times wouldn't that be the equivalent to a 1 hp and 166.6 rpm. That is still too fast. If you could reduce the speed 12 times, it would be like you have a 2 hp and a about 84 rpm. It is all about the gearing. Good luck and let me know if any of this makes any sense. Share your project if you get any progress, I would love to see it.

    @goshicrazy 8 лет назад +1

    what are the motor specs?

    • @chud327
      @chud327  8 лет назад +1

      I think it is a 1750 rpm 110 volt, that goes into the gear reduction box. I can look at the motor if you want more specs! Thanks for watching. Are you building a can crusher too?

    • @goshicrazy
      @goshicrazy 8 лет назад

      That would be really helpful! I indeed am building a crusher too, I've been looking at other videos to know what kind of motor to look for, so far I had in mind a half horse 1750 rpm motor with a 60:1 reduction. But since it will be second hand it's always good to have options!

    Why didn't you build it so it crushes cans flatter?

    • @chud327
      @chud327  6 лет назад

      I guess I could go back an fine tune it. I was just so happy it worked and I do not crush very many cans. I was actually thinking of making a two stage crusher, that crushes the crushed cans. That would be so neat. thanks for watching.

      chud327
      Yup.
      Just strange that all the ones I've seen on RUclips only Crush to 1 inch maybe half an inch. I would like to build one that crushes down to at least a quarter inch if not more.
