    That's a nice digital caliper you have, the can crusher works great nice build !!

    Did finish. In fact took a few small boxes of smashed cans down to the recycler. Guy in front of us had like 80 garbage bags of not-smashed cans, he got $25. I had 4 boxes on the tailgate of my truck got $107 bucks! Cans when not smashed take up CRAZY amounts of room! :)

    I'm still waiting for pt 3 too! Got a Norgren 400kg cylinder in the frame but need control valves. Coke cans don't like a 400kg press lol.

    You should try to crush an empty food metal can to see if it works

    Still looking forward to part 3, Did you ever get it finished?

  • @MrProtieus

    was wondering if u can make that smash a pile of cans at once so u dont have to spend alot of time doing that :)
    maybe adding a hopper at the top and making the ramming plate bigger just wonder where u can get the pnuematic piston from.

    I would like to suggest that you add a cover with an interlock or set up a two handed valve system to keep your fingers from being crushed.

    How long the rod should be? I see many sizes beyond 12" long

    • @MontanaMetal
      @MontanaMetal  4 года назад +2

      Having done it now, I'd get whatever is about 1" longer than your favorite can! :)

    interested to see part 3 and what valves/ actuators you went with - and did you keep the flow controllers ? dont think its needed ( maybe on return stroke) as it looks like your cylinder has soft stops in it anyway

  • @MontanaMetal
    @MontanaMetal  12 лет назад +1

    @phill903, thanks man, LONG way to go. Those were just tests. I think it's gonna end up on a cart (so it's portable) with 150psi on it. ;)

    Hi and congratulation for your invention.
    Do you think is it possible to crush a pet bottle in the same way? (with a longer stroke of course)

  • @MontanaMetal

    as long as you have an air source, you should be able to take it anywhere you like. :)

  • @MontanaMetal

    I couldn't agree with you more.... PILE of work to do something silly like smash a can. BUT, my daughter is in to recycling, I get the idea, but hate the room cans take up. So I had to do something. my little contribution to help "save the environment". and I get to do it by "SMASHING STUFF"... that's a win, :)

    Where is / 3 I'd like to see how you put on the car and be able to take it to family functions how much does the compressor actually gets used so you don't burn it up

  • @MontanaMetal
    @MontanaMetal  11 лет назад +1

    More pounds per square inch equal a can that's more 'smashed', and THAT is more fun!!!! :)

      All these can crushers on RUclips. Why doesn't someone adapt a log splitter to crush cans. It would smash them like a coin.

  • @MrPerson303

    Try it with a full can. I bet that would look cool

  • @MontanaMetal

    Yea, I'll do that in one of the next videos. That piece can be confusing for sure. especially if you're just learning pneumatics. :)

    How is it you have over 15k views on your can crusher and I only have 300? , even though my can crusher was really built from "scatch" cylinder in all and has a auto eject? but in the end I still like a flat can.

    D = 4 R=2 A= nr^2 A * Psi = Force 2*2=4; 4*(22/7)=~12; 12*100psi = 1440 lbs that would flatten about any type of can from soda to soup can!
