My girlfriend wants diamond for her birthday, Sorted! Got her a matching Bag and Belt last year, Hoover's never worked so well.
also one thing for smaller knives like th paring knive you would get an offset one sided edge with the simple sharp. as both blades don't cover the blade entirely. but for large non serated knives it is a dream. it makes them sharp in seconds and most important keeps them sharp.
I just use my Grandad's sharpening steel. It reminds me of him every time I use it.He was a butcher so he needed sharp blades! Thanks for the review Martin.
A steel does not sharpen a knife, it simply aligns the edge, but once a knife is dull, it needs to be rehoned on a oil stone or similar device
You should use the coarse then the fine then the ultra fine to sharpen a blunt blade not just the coarse.
It's like with sanding you start with a coarse grit to remove the bulk of material then you use a finer grit to remove the scratches left by the coarse grit, then you use an even finer grit to remove the fine scratches and you are left with a smooth surface.
If you sharpen with just the coarse stone the edge of the blade will be rough and will not cut as well as a blade where you have gone through the progression to get a polished smooth edge.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful reviews I enjoy watching your wonderful videos watching from South Africa
As a student, I used to improvise and use the bottom of my stoneware oven dish. Or use the back of a plate.
Looks a good bit of kit for the kitchen always need a sharp knife. Good review Martin. 👍
Good honest review 👏 👍
Great review Martin when i left i worked in a butchers shop and learnt to sharpen the old fashioned way with a knife sharpening bar 👍👍👍👍
Great review video Martin Sharon, we need a good set of sharp knifer's in our kitchen, we have chucked loads of blunt knives out, this has got me thinking were my sisters knife set went after we emptied out her house hers was the ones they sharpened when removing/replacing them back into holder.
Proper nice bit of kit👍🏻👍🏻
Looks very good, I have an old vintage 'skyline' where you pull the knife through a series of 'wheels'. It keeps my knives sharp. Nothing more dangerous than a blunt knife. This DMT works on a similar principle but with different inserts, simplicity itself and a good investment. Another nice video.
Nice Tee Shirt Martin 👌🏻
If RUclips ever goes tits up , you could easily get a job on QVC Mart your a natural mate
lol Phil
Nice review guys, saves on keep buying new knives, 👍🏻
Looks good this, great video. cheers 👍
Thank you 👍
Good watch as ever. Sharon and Martin, You are both a dream team! As an aside, can you please do a Stanley type knife shoot out on your Retro channel? I nearly bought a Stanley but I saved fortunes on a Wilko knife that looked the same, I got no spare blades but the price was right. There must be differences in quality, sharpness blah blah. I think I will buy this Kitchen sharpener now/ sick of using the cheap hard to use rods.
Nice 👍
Looks a good item but only sharpens 3/4 of the blade due to the fact the handle can't get in to do the heel of the blade and as you press down on the the middle part of the stones are applying the same amount. Of pressure or maybe I'm wrong just my opinion would be better to just use the whetstone on the edge of the blade
Hey mart an sharon hope your both keeping well? Mart if you want sharp knifes you should invest in the EZE- LAP diamond stones. As you know im a carpenter by trade and i swear by them! They are super fast cutting and make sharpening knifes chissels an hand plane blades a doddle with fantastic results everytime
Cool, thanks Shane
Where do you get the blue stones?
From the DMT website
If theres one thing i hate its a blunt knife in my kitchen……thanks for that
I remember my grandad rubbing the knife off the plastered wall out the back of the house
