I am a new player to Super Mario 3D World and if you are lookin for a review, this game is a solid 10/10. The controls are fantastic, the game plays amazing, and the visuals are breath taking. this is probably a close second to odyssey if not, better. And don't get me started on Bowser's Fury. That game is so much fun. Anyone from a young kid, to a young adult, you should get your self this game.

Yeah but it sucks compared to the Wii U version, resistive screens are just better for precision touch controls, the Switch's capacitive touch screen is far more finicky.
Bowser's Fury looks awesome... Would've been cool if they maybe incorporated/remastered the levels from 3D Land in there as well? Could've helped to justify the price point.
@@V-D. I actually agree with you, more or less. I still think it's a little steep, considering the length of Bowser's Fury, but I think it's absolutely within acceptable boundaries. I just know that for a lot of people, the value just isn't there and I can understand that.
If Nintendo's own games on Switch start taking hits on the framerate (Bowser's Fury) I think it's a sign for Nintendo to REALLY power up their next system
I had this on Wii U, and I was more than happy to buy it again on the Switch just for Bowser's Fury. It's one of my favorite games from the Wii U, but I wouldn't consider it the last major game to be ported. Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD is DESPERATELY looking lonely rn, and with Zelda 35th coming up I really hope Nintendo is considering porting that game too.
You forgot another BIG difference: Miiverse. Miiverse added a whole bunch of fun to the game, and it also helped avoid hidden traps etc in the level. while it had some.... questionable posts, it still was used really well in 3d world. 3D World for switch was completely removed of all its Miiverse functionality as the switch does not have Miiverse.
You know how the stars make “shiny” sounds to help you locate them better? Was that in the Wii U as well or was that a new Switch feature? It has been a while since I played the Wii U version.
I'm really happy I got this game again. I actually don't remember much about this game on wiiu but not I've replayed it and it's quickly become one of my favourite Mario games. Bowser's Fury is also really really enjoyable & charming.
As someone who never played the Wii U version, but was aware of the speedup to the controls, i find that the speed up hasn't been fully thought through in a few of the stages, particularly in the auto scroll stages where I find that it is far too easy to move faster than the scroll itself, then when trying to back track to catch an item that's missed it's very easy too go too far back and die out of bounds of the moving scroll. Other than these things I find that the port is fantastic
Actually, the WiiU version didn't use full 16-bit color ranges, which was changed in the switch to be full 16-bit, making the game look much more vibrant

Im not a huge fan of the player speed, I think rather than a 50% speed increase, 25-30% I think would have been better, there are times where tight platforming gets difficult because of the speed, at least in my experience.
@@amysteriousviewer3772 Why? It’s a fully realized AAA title, huge expansive world..basically two games in one with the Bowser addition. Probably took more development time than Mario Kart 8, another $60 title that no one is complaining about.
Very well done video! The game looks great but I can't help but feel kind of ripped off with the Switch games. Nintendo hasn't been releasing much for the Switch, when they do release games, nearly half of them are recent remakes. With all of their games being $90 CAD after tax, and that price almost never going down, I feel kind of cheated considering my PS4 and PC regularly get hit titles on sale for under $20.
The only Nintendo games worth their asking price are Smash Ultimate, BotW and Mario Kart 8. I think it's kind of ridiculous to price platformers at 60$.
Nintendo:Backward compatibility, whats that? Us: euuuh like you did for the Wii and the Gamecube. Nintendo: Oooh, it wasnt the backward compatibility, it was the same console.
I only ever got an hour or so of gameplay on 3D world years back, and never got to play it again. But now, it’s nice to finally experience the whole game. The main thing I love is the increased speed, sprinting across the stage is satisfying. It’s like everyone runs like Toad from the previous, and now Toad is even faster. Obviously I don’t know how difficult it is to port a game but the graphics could’ve been better overall when it comes to close up detail. And Bowser’s Fury should’ve been 60fps not 30. If Odyssey can run at a smooth rate when either docked or not, why not Bowser’s Fury?
@NightyKnight I’d love it if Wii Sports Resort was ported to Switch, I loved that game and it’d be cool to see it in higher resolution with maybe better frame rate and just playable on a current system. Though they’d probably need to account for differences in the capabilities of the controllers, but I think it’d be really cool to see a bundle with Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort and Nintendo Land on Switch, as long as they can adapt the controls, I don’t see why they should be left only on their original consoles.
Grabbing this game for sure. Not a double dip for me since I never played it on Wii U. Looks worth the $60 especially with the added content. Most of these Wii U ports were lacking extras to justify the full price.
From my perspective it was 100% worth it, even tho the BF story was quite short and repetitive, I loved it I’m working on 3D world and it’s really fun, it’s my first time ever playing it since I didn’t own the U, the only bad thing that i can think of is that it was really hard to get the steel book here in Sweden
I‘ve played Super Mario 3D World on the Wii U a year after it’s release so there’s no reason for me to play it again on my Switch because it’d be boring for me to play the same game over again. I’d be only getting it for the Bowser‘s Fury.

Many switch games have different mechanics for different modes (handheld/tv). It would've been cool if you had touch screen for handheld, and cursor for docked.
The game is better in practically every way, except that you keep green star and stamps that you already got in a level when you die (could’ve easily hava an option to change it) and no blowing mechanics (blowing platforms are now automatic and you can blow away mini goomba)
I honestly kind of wished the blow mechanics could have been replaced with shaking the controller. Although now that I think about it, trying to move a curser while also shaking it would not be the best.
I was going to say, I don't own it and now I do for the switch, but I remembered I bought a WiiU and that game (along with others). Oh well, the game was used and the GOTY version so it didn't cost anything. Played the WiiU once and never really touched it after that.
Im curious do we know its the 3d world engine in Bowser's fury? Jest because it looks a lot like odyssey's and has some of the same quirks? Was that not in the Wii U version? Thank God it's in the switch version at least because I have gotten a green star or stamp then died immediately or die in the process of getting it and I'm glad it says with me after death.
I loved this port, but I had a bunch of framerate problems, usually in multiplayer. The game just couldn't handle more than one person in a stamp house, and a few other areas when there were a lot of enemies and stuff om screen. I'm not a framerate snob, so the fact that I noticed it means it must have been pretty bad...

Was that not in the Wii U version? Thank God it's in the switch version at least because I have gotten a green star or stamp then died immediately or die in the process of getting it and I'm glad it says with me after death.
@@richardmorgan3665 nope if you died after collecting a stamp you were screwed if the check point was in a later area
@@sansdeltarune7510 Damn, well I'm glad they changed it
How do you know which character has passed the level in switch version? they dont have the character icons like the original
I Thought They Do🤔
I loved this port, but I had a bunch of framerate problems, usually in multiplayer. The game just couldn't handle more than one person in a stamp house, and a few other areas when there were a lot of enemies and stuff om screen. I'm not a framerate snob, so the fact that I noticed it means it must have been pretty bad...
