Daaaaaaaayum you guys UPPED your YCST Production game! It’s great! Very well done. Good show sir 🧐
Agreed! The visuals during the explanation are nice.
Only ever played this solo, I absolutely love it. However I have never won! about 6 games in now, I seem to be getting closer though haha
Oh loved the video production in this one.. really smooth n enjoyable to watch 👍
Thanks for not talking too fast
Long time subscriber. I appreciate the evolution of your channel!! The 'You Can Solo That' production is top notch. 👍
This is a great quick tutorial on how to play the solo version of Paladins! So many other Paladin solo videos show a full solo playthrough, which takes much longer to show how the solo AI is played. This was so much simpler and faster! Thank you!
The intro of this segment will always crack me up lol. I see myself in it
Ive played Paladins with 2 players and love the game. Ive tried solo a couple of times and it has been tough as i am not sure if im playing correctly. Actually i was hoping you would do this video so im super glad it is out!
Great job on the video and it is very helpful!
Great explanation of the game and your thoughts on it. Very insightful!
Cheers thanks so much!
Perfect timing, I'm currently looking at getting it for solo play only!
Really like this one solo and played it a few times at the beginning of quarantine. This came at a great time because the last time I tried to set it up I realized I had forgotten how the solo mode worked!
Switches to In Focus mode at 2:08.
Things are getting crispy around here.
*crispy bacon sizzling in the pan sounds*
As a rule, I skip through channels' silly, canned intros...except this one. I watch the whole thing and laugh every time. Thanks for the great content!
I bought this game specifically for the solo variant and truly enjoy it. I have yet to play it with anyone else, but I'm looking forward to it one day
It bugs me when I have to do so much work for the AI that when I get back to my turn I have to think about what it was I was going to do. Yes, it really pulls me out of the experience. Architects isn't to bad, however there is the "Why is the AI taking my guys again?"
I like all three West Kingdom games solo.
That AI for Architects is always up my backside about something! What a pain! It’s also pretty fun to add it to a two player game!
Where in the rule book did it talk about waiving over the board so game pieces perfectly lay out? I’ve been seeing this a lot lately and can’t grasp the technique 😔😔
Run the game in Tabletop Simulator. I don't even have to wave my hand. XD
😆 That intro is 🔥
"Suck it, Rodney!" Amazing.
This is the best intro ever.
One of my favourite solo games. I didn’t find the AI that bad to control. I also did not like architects solo either and the difference is the bot. The architects bot is very simple and basic and that’s how the gameplay feels too. Paladins AI is more robust and involved and that’s why it’s better. I don’t see that as a negative. Great review!
🥈Second! I once knew a guy who used to play 5 hand poker solo. However, no one would say that poker was a solo game. But there are so many games on BGG that say they can be played solo with no solo modes.
I keep hearing about these West Kingdom games. Which one should I buy first? I can get 4 to the table pretty regularly, but if any of them play well at 2, that is a major plus. Everytime I lay out a solo game I get two turns in and remember that it's the social interaction that draws me to these games.
That's kind of a tough question. Paladins is hands down the better 2 player game. But playing it with 4 is going to be VERY long. On the other hand, Architects isn't great at 2, but is really good at 4, and even 5. Architetects does have an AI you can throw in when you're playing with 2, which simulates a 3 player, which helps a bit. I like Paladins better, but I mostly play games with 2. If you're looking for a game that's going to get use at many different player counts, I'd go with Architects. It's a little bit more accessible too, because Paladins is pretty heavy.
agreed..the solo AI is a lot of maintenance, gee as much work as on my side of the board LOL. But it is well thought out n has depth where u do feel like there's another player there vs other solo games just besting ur own score (which i don't mind at all.. good practice play).
Really like this game A LOT.. so i modified the solo part w flash cards that state what areas are blocked or which cards can be taken (hence which resources/cards or bonus gains wud have been taken by another actual player w u) Cuz really paladins is for the most part a solo play within a multi-player set up..ur really playing solo on ur own play board like everyone else is doing... the only competitive part is who can get the cards first (recruit/townspeople n attack/convert) & take a spots first(on community board). Granted it boils down to best ur own score BUT ur still playing the game nothing has changed game mechanc wise & it's much less maintenance n faster gameplay for me cuz I just flip a flash card do the action on it .. voila .. it's my turn again
Anyway just sharing
I used to enjoy Paladins solo. After about 20 games, I only have about a 20% win rate and that’s getting frustrating; I expected that I’d be better by now.
I'm sorry. I didn't hear anything you said. I was in too much mental shock & confusion between whoever that chad was in the intro and the sexy lion beast doing the actual video.
Total Chad
That was awesome!
I really like games with such a well-thought AI (from the specific deck to the board and specific actions)
It doenst just do any arbitrary things to block you but in a lot of cases follows a specific path.
Would the solo experience be better if the AI just blocked some arbitrary spots and you had to beat a specific point value instead of actually having more points than the opponent? IMO definetely no.
Too simple AI's so much depend on randomness (partly calling it luck) that I prefer a complicated AI or no AI at all over any simple AI (just to offer some kind of solo play).
I don't enjoy Paladins solo because the AI is too involved for me. I can never remember what I was planning on doing when it comes back to me.
I really enjoy this game in solo mode. I’m okay with the fiddliness.

I feal like when you understand how to beat the AI you always have to play the same. Gonna have to play more to confirm tho !
