    Loved seeing what you picked up at the show. You have the same approach to stamp shows as me: the fun of hunting through a pre-built album and working out how you will break it down. I always check the penny reds for barred cancellations online to see which towns they were postmarked in. On your last page what you said were wedding stamps look to be the 1940 centenary of the penny black series. Best wishes from NW England!

      Penny reds can be a deep hole. I can't figure out if I want to collect all the plate numbers or all the plate positions ... or heaven forbid, both. Thanks for the help on the centenary stamps. Always learning

    What nice looking lots - a ton of fun there Ken. I agree on the singles vs. lots conundrum - I have way more fun with lots that singles lol

    Wow, you bought some great lots, Ken. Congratulations with spotting them and recognizing the value! I wish I had the knowledge to judge lots like that. Usually I would browse through old collections and lots pretty clueless and that is not fun. Hopefully I will gain knowledge as the years go by. I gathered that the Victoria stamps and those embossed stamps and cut outs are pretty special. It was also interesting to see the French advertising salvage stamps. I really started to really like French stamps in general. I really liked to see there were such a variety of countries in that one lot. It was also excellent that you are going to add so much to your collection from the lots. All in all it was enjoyable to view the lots with you. Looking forward to your next video about the show. Enjoy the rest of the weekend! 🙂

      All you have to do is keep track of what pushes your own stamps boundaries. Then lots that are just a little better than what you have jump out for you. Indeed, these lots are turning out to be pretty special for me.
      I also really like French stamps, and those advertising selvage stamps really caught my eye.

    Makes the cost per stamp go down and then re-sell/trade for what I need :)

    So far your the only one who will review the stamp show, thank you for that. All my best finds were in buying album page lots and stock sheets. I found a $500 stamp for my German collection on some random sheet of stamps. Wish I could go to that show, if I still lived in Jersey I would be there. Thanks again for these videos, good hunting.

      Actually a few what I believe are good, but always the chance of forgeries with Germany stamps. Bohemia and Moravia mi Z1 MNH, used in the Theresienstat Camp 1943, sale included some reproductions also. I also found 4 Germany DDR Official Sc# 022a compass right m/h & mnh, have to give them a hard look. Even if it is a forgery it still filled up that set. All these came from loose random pages some from books and others from plain pages, purchased on eBay sight unseen for a great price.

    Hi Ken! What’s the purpose of the graphite lining on those wildings ? Great video and very nice philatelic treasures that you found!

    • @KensStampCollection
      @KensStampCollection  5 месяцев назад

      The British postal system experimented with ways to automate reading the postage on envelopes. I think they tried to read these with magnets. It worked, but wasn't as reliable as the phosphor bands.

    The French ad stamps are not as easy to find anymore as well as highly collectible. Good luck with German issues have some to check myself. the Gb issues were a steal and a good find. I have 2 of the 3 embossed early Victorias with the 10 p and the 1 shilling with margins both of which came with old collection lots.
