Rare vintage automatic spring loaded Leytool Hack Saw

- English company, Leytool, made fantastic and futuristic forward thinking designs. Their fully enclosed hand drills are exceptional to use and this hacksaw is no different.
A great piece of design engineering that can saw through an unlimited thickness of material without being restricted by the usual hacksaw frame.
An enclosed spring automatically returns the blade after every stroke.

That's a new hack saw to me! Never saw one of those before! Would love to have one!
Thanks for watching. Found mine on ebay (Australia) while browsing through some tools. Had no idea what it was either 😁
Great job and a really cool and interesting old tool!! 😃👍🏼
Thanks for checking out the video- yeah, it's not the kind of tool that you come across very often 😄
Beautiful restoration! That is a very unique hacksaw, i would love to find one! This gives me something else to search for while I'm out tool hunting.
Thanks mate. I do hope you find one. I saw that one on ebay and absolutely needed to get it 😄
I've just found one of these saws
@MrBest4tyres 👍
Great job on an interesting saw!
Thank you Magdad 😊 👍
Very nice! These are unusual & very rare in Oz! My dad had one of these & 2 eggbeaters, one a compact, the other had a plate to lean on, for extra pressure. All Leytool.
I'm not sure how he'd acquired them, but was in the late 60's or early 70's. Sadly, I hadn't seen them since (about) 1980/81.
This type of hacksaw was great for sheet panels that are already fixed to a wall frame or similar. Cutting a new window hole through Gyprock, for example.
Thats interesting, I didn't know they had 2 versions of the eggbeater drills. Yes, Leytool tools are hard to come by. I noticed that even in England they are advertised as rare.
@@LittleRestorers I think (from memory) the drills were almost identical, with one having a threaded hole in the handle for the bar & plate to lean on, with 2 handles for 2 speeds, the other a single speed.
Brilliant job 👍 I have never seen one of those before, such a great idea. That chrome turned out well using the aluminium foil. Finished project looks so new and fresh. Well done on the red lettering.
Thank you my friend. I wonder why this hack saw concept wasn't picked up by anyone else. Had to keep my hands very steady while doing those lettering 😊.
Thanks for your usual support 👍
Anasing job my friend. Never saw one of those before!
Thanks for checking it out 👍
Thanks!
Excellent brother like always
Big thanks 😊 🙏
Superb job Vince. I haven’t seen one of these before. Your restoration was spot on with the colours and chrome refinishing.
I’m glad you demonstrated how it works. Interesting tool.
@Shed Man X Great you enjoyed it. Yeah its quiet a simple concept if you think about it yet no one else copied the design. May be because of the patent. 🤔
Very cool gadget, I want one.😊
Thank you mate. Wonder how many of those would have made their way down under 😁👍

Thanks for watching 👍
👌
Thank you 😊 👍👍
This is the first time I've seen something like this, in what year it was produced
Thanks for watching. The only few advertising materials showing this hack-saw seem to be from 1953.
Unfotunanetly, there's not much information about how long they were made for.
