- In part 1 of this video , we shows how we complete disassemble all the components from year 2016 Trek Emonda SL 5 rim brake road bike.
In this video, we continue the project of upgrading the gear components which is Shimano Ultegra R8150 Di2 (rim version) groupset and Bontrager XXX VR-CF Carbon handle bar.
In fact, installation of rim brake components take slight longer time than disc brake as we need find a way to keep the cables neat and not too length. We also keep wire cable & brake cable put into the heat shrink hose.
Every components are interrelated, the bottom bracket BB90 has worn out, hence new bearings are pressed in using Enduro bearing presser.
(Warning: Frame may broken or widen the BB cup if the bearings does not press in align with the cup)
Yea, its only one time job! Hence our bike builder carefully putting all the components make sure its neat and perfect.
Product highlights:
Shimano Ultegra Di2 R8150 Groupset
Bontrager XXX VR-CF Aero Handlebar
Enduro BB90 Ceramic Bearings
Haha, not 1 word on GCN and on any major cycling media, it exists :)
exactly my thoughts. Cant even find any reviews online. Shimano is literally hiding it.
Muy bonita la bici, siempre elijo frenos de pinza.
I love they are the best.
does the 12s Di2 comes without junction box ?
the shifters are not wireless ?
I have exactly the same question ! how can it be possible? because the new shifters are different than these on the video. it seems to be an hybrid solution
Could you name the music track from this video? Thank you!
Hi there, i'm building the 2017 emonda slr rim brake version with 9250 di2, and i've noticed you guys managed to thread the electric wire into the frame via the same hole on the top tube as the rear brake, can you give me some hints on how you guys did that? it looks pretty neat, thanks in advance.
Sure. No modification required. Get this parts.

@@USJCYCLES03 Thanks for the help and reminder.
@@willyturing1803 Looks like heat shrink tube was used to bind the cables together
Is the wheelset 12 spd ready? Or is the 12 spd cogs compatible to 11 spd wheels?
12 speed shimano cassettes fit on 11 speed hubs
Where did you install the battery? I have a Trek SL rim brake

Is it still using junction to connect between shifters and batteries?
Yup. Still have junction box, but we managed to hide it. 😄
Actually not. The rim brake STIs (Ultegra and DA) both have two SD300-ports, so you could daisy-chain the STIs together without the need for a junction box. The Battery itself (DN300) has three SD300-ports, so one cable goes to the RD, one to the FD and the third to one STI which then connects to the second STI.
The disc version only has one SD300 port on the STI, so a junction box is mandatory there.
That was the answer I was looking for.
So is this really possible?@@mk-yg7op
