You've got a great ear. Most people don't pick up Floor's growling until later or not at all. You got it within the first chorus verse.
Especially impressive when the version listened was the Nightwish Cruise version, where the Floor's growling isn't as obviously audible like at e.g. The Wembley Arena.
True!
Very good catch. I have seen other reviewers not catch on this until the end of the song.
I find this quite baffling as it's very clear what part Marco is singing leaving the growls to Floor. Maybe they can't distinguish their regular singing voices or something. Marco doesn't sound like floor though and there is clear sample of Floors voice before the growls.
Noope. He wasn't shure. Even at the second chorus he thinks... that does bot count
I think you would love "Ghost Love Score" Live at Wacken 2013..
Yes! Make a reaction of it, if you haven't seen it yet please :)
Definitely. And don't have a look at it before. Please choose the live Version @ Wacken Open Air. *crowd was 82T people btw*
Yes! Please do! I’m 100% addicted to watching Ghost Love Score reaction videos 😍
JUST DO IT! :-D
Definitely! React to the Live version!
yes, that is Floor Jansen growling......she has quite the vocal range......
Beyond impressive! What a voice!
@@BillyGollnerMusic oh, almost forgot.........loved the reaction, and you are cool in my book:)
you should definitely react to Ghost Love Score.....Wacken 2013.......she sings in several styles and vocal ranges
and the viking guy is Marco, great voice also, he has fronted in a few bands......react to him singing the Islander live in Tampere, Finland 2015,,,,,
@@BillyGollnerMusic You ain't seen nothin' yet!
@ Billy Gollner You must see Ghost Love Score & Floor’s (also known as Valkyrie Goddess) rendition of Phantom of the Opera. Yes, those were Goddess Growls 😉

Hello @ Billy Gollner ! Nightwish fans here, your reaction just appeared on our radar..
Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band performing one of the most heavier song from their repertoire. You're very perceptive, here the female singer (Floor Jansen) did the growling, when the male singer (Marco Hietala) did the clean voice, in the chorus. Floor Jansen is a total vocal acrobat, you'll see..
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrulmentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.
I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol "
Hope you'll continue this journey with us, so I'll drop here a list of songs with the current lineup of the band you may like:

Bless ya for continuing in our beloved Ann’s stead
Thank You for post this. It is wonderful for those looking to get into this band. I'm sad that Ann has passed on. RIP💔 It's lovely that you are passing on the love that she would have as well.💕
Gabe to the rescue 💛
Excellent condensed band history, and my sincerest condolences regarding Ann.
Nightwish has become one of my favorite bands. I found them by sitting down and actively searching for something totally different to listen to. So I stumbled upon symphonic metal (as a long time alternative music, like Radiohead, this sub genre was a fresh change of pace for me.) I bought the album "Once" for starters, along with an ablum by Delain "We are the Others, Xandria's "Neverworld's End" and Elysian's "Silent Scream".
Nightwish remains my favorite by far in female- fronted Metal.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. Every Nightwish song is better than the last. Doesn't matter which one. And yes that was all Floor
Oh yes, I think you’re the first reactor to notice right away that it’s Marco Hietala (bass&male vocals) with the tenor voice and Floor Jansen (female lead vocals) with the low growl in the chorus, good job and nice reaction!
Like someone already mentioned, Ghost Love Score is the usual song to start with. Probably the best demonstration of Floor’s versatility and capabilities as well as Nightwish’s long, symphonic songs with multiple parts and many changes in time signatures and keys. If you’re not up for a 10 min song, I would go for Storytime. The live versions, especially Wacken 2013 are the best performances and have very good audio quality.
And one more thing: Nightwish has been active since 1996 with three lead singers over the years. For now it’s a good idea to focus on material with the current lead singer, Floor. She’s been with them since late 2012, so look for videos from 2013 onwards to hear music from Nightwish with their current setup and sound.
u are not quite right. They replaced jukka ( drummer) in 2014. so to get the current line up u need to go after 2014 :) To get the current singers 2013 will do :) there are 3 singers in nighwish now, troy also has a good voice, in adition to floor and marco :)
Honestly, I think Dark Chest of Wonders (Wacken 2013) shows about the same range of technique and variety of registration as Ghost Love Score.
MsStecarl yes, you are correct, Jukka is no longer playing with NW and was replaced by his friend Kai in 2013/14. Like you said, most people still consider Wacken 2013 to represent the modern Nightwish sound, even with Jukka behind the drum kit. Many of the Wacken live videos are still titled official live videos and it probably helps that Jukka is still in a managerial role with the band. Troy has been playing with Nightwish for a bit longer, only appeared on three songs at Wacken 2013, but has a more important role now with the new album.
Why not from Floor's very first show with Nightwish that had been rarely noticed yet: ruclips.net/video/CRJ_csyXosU/видео.html
@@frankmcfrank392 Kai is more than a friend, he actually taught Jukka some drumming back in the day...
I hear a rumble in the distance, like an approaching storm which can mean only one thing, the nightwish army are on the way to your channel
This was one of their heavier stuff. They have very wide range of songs, and both of these singers, Floor Jansen and Marko Hietala, are very diverse. They also have third singer, Troy, who usually plays varius instruments, but he can also sing very well. Most reactors start with "Ghost Love Score" (Official Live, Wacken 2013), so maybe that one next.
This is one of the straight forward, "simple" composed songs on their list of songs.
I also agree with Oo.
This may not be a good first impression but nightwish is not they type of band that focuses on one type of but various others too. while this is one of their heavier songs, the others are very neutral and very powerful and emotional or all three depending on the songs selected.
Oo Nightwish has only one true lead singer and that is Floor Jansen. Floor is the undisputed Valkyrie goddess queen of metal. Nightwish is lucky to have her and vice versa. Marko is back up vocal singer during some parts of some songs to support Floor, there are some 'duets' and there are two songs that he is the actual leading vocalist. I love him!!! But in terms of being 'diverse' you can not be serious in comparing Marko with Floor.... Marko is great in what he brings he has a great raw voice but he is not diverse. And saying about Floor that she is 'diverse' is an incedible understatement of her brilliance. When Floor joined Nightwish she single handedly lifted Nightwish to a level previously unheard of both in terms of vocal reach/power. and stage presence.
Yes, Foor Jansen's voice is a great istrument to many kind of music. She's extremely versatile singer and a very charismatic performer. Nifghrwish do a lot of amazing duets with Floor and Marco. Greetings from Finland.
Her name is Floor Jansen - our Valkyrie, Amazon Warrior Goddess of Metal.. She can growling, she can sing high in operatic style and everything in between.. She's been a vocal coach too heh...
You just stumbled upon not just only one of the greatest composers alive (dude on the keyboard), but also one of the greatest singers ever, the magnificent Floor Jansen, aka the "Swiss Army knife of Singing" :) If you want to hear some completely different facets of her voice, try "Ghost Love Score", "Ever Dream" and "Story Time" from Wacken 2013, "The Phantom of the Opera", "Vilja Lied" and "Shallow" from Beste Zangers or "O mio Babbino Caro".
@Always1895
, You are indeed not wrong, not even by one femtometre. :-)
I just had to look up "O mio Babbino Caro", and . . . damn.
That is some hard-core Opera.
Come now... Floor is good and all, but Nightwish has two better singers. After all, Marco and Troy can legitimately claim that Floor Jansen, the Valkyrie herself, has been their backup vocalist.
@@StergiosMekras I see what you did there. 😂😂
Don't you mean... The 'Dutch' army knife of singing...
I'll just get me coat ->
Floor also does about 6 songs on a Dutch singing show called Beste Zangers, where she sings in different styles and languages, her Phantom of the Opera with Henk Poort is awesome! She also does her own version of Shallow.....awesome.

There's no such thing as too old to be cool! 😉 And "nerdy cool" totally counts as cool!
Nice reaction video!
Is there another cool than nerdy-cool?
Yes it is her, Floor, growling!
You have got to react to Nightwish, "Ghost Love Score", Wacken 2013 in front of a crowd of 82k. A 10 minute song that showcases Floors versatility as a vocalist.
I'm glad you liked Marko's, the bassist voice. The only thing missing in GLS is his awesome vocals. That is something you have got to hear after you have reacted to GLS.
I loved your reaction and your personality!!! A vocal coach reacting to Nightwish. I always love it. If you react to more Nightwish, wild horses couldn't drag me away. See you!
Greetings from Helsinki Finland!
Look for 'The Islander'. I think it was Tampere. Mostly solo Marko, but the rest of the band filters in perfectly. Watch for Floor's huge happy smile when Marko walks back to the band at the end.
Thanks, Billy. Great reaction video!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏽🤘🏿
Maybe you can do "Ghost love score" live in Wacken 2013 next? It's the most popular start for a Nightwish journey and shows the versatilety of Floor Jansen and Nightwish pretty good. 😎
Yes. GLS from Wacken 2013. please
Nice reaction !! Just know you just scratched the surface of what they are capable of... Both Marko's and Floor's voices are amazing, the whole band's musicianship is stunning, and the compositions of Tuomas, the mastermind behind the keyboard are just... wow...
Be prepared to be visited by a lot of Nightwish fans ;-)
And don't worry about the lack of informations you still suffer from, Gabriel will surely give you soon a long comment with all you need to know about them, the links to other masterpieces... Your journey has just started, new sub here, and many more to come, no doubt about it :-)
Billy Gollner:
You just stepped on a landmine.
And it will blow your mind.
And you have no idea how much fun you are going to have by diving into their repetoire.
One of the few who actually got it at the start that it's floor doing the grows! Great reaction!
As everyone has said, firstly, congratulations on picking up on Floor's growls. Secondly, this is really not often the first introduction to the band, being one of their heavier songs.
Whether you react or not, there are four full live concerts that I would hugely recommend.
Wacken 2013
Wembley 2015
Tampere 2015
Buenos Aires 2018.
Their diversity in style and sheer virtuosity will astound you
Definitely her.floor has 4 octaves and power to spare throughout, including her growls.youve hit a vocal jackpot with her, either her solo stuff or with nightwish.
It's so much fun seeing somebody so obviously new to Nightwish. Floor is a goddess and the whole band is so extremely talented.
Also good job picking up on her growls. Most reactions I see for this song barely seem to register that they're there much less figure out it's Floor doing them.
Really nice reaction! :) Floor (vocalist) is amazingly talented, she is classically trained and her vocal range is to die for. Marko (bassist and vocalist) is also an amazing singer on his own, although usually he does backup vocals. Tuomas is on the keys, he composes and writes lyrics on all the songs, then there is Emppu on guitar and Kai on drums. They have one more member, Troy, who plays several instruments (such as the Uillean pipes) and does vocals too.
Perhaps you'd like to take a look at Weak Fantasy, Shoemaker or How's the Heart? (Sadly, no live performances for the two last ones yet, as they're songs from their new album). For more Marko's singing, I recommend The Islander (Tampere live) or While your lips are still red (Wembley live). Most people will likely recommend Ghost Love Score (at Wacken 2013) next, which is of course always a good pick :)
Anyway, thank you for the wonderful reaction ^^
Interestingly tidbit: Floor Jansen used to be a vocal coach herself. She and Marco know how to do all those metal gritty techniques without damaging their voice.
Come on Billy, it's time to take the red pill, stay in Wonderland and let the Nightwish Army show you how deep the rabbit hole goes. What next? Something from Wacken 2013 probably. Doesn't matter which, they're all gems in their own right. Most popular reactions are Ghost Love Score, Storytime, Song of Myself. But hey, whatever sounds fun to you will work! :) As for Floor - she does it all. From her deep growls to operatic and literally anything in between. This is a journey you're going to enjoy!
Our beloved Floor and Marko! ❤ They are great! She can do anything and everything and he is just Marko! Everyone loves him! Please do more reactions on them! All band members are exceptional musicians and Tuomas (keyboards) is the mastermind! A true maestro!
Very cool reaction by the way! And nerdy is the new cool 😉 coming from a fellow nerd heh heh!
Yes that was her doing the growls too. Two key songs to check out are Ghost Love Score live at Wacken 2103 and Poet and the Pendulum live at Wembley 2015. The latter is a chronicle of what could have been one of the greatest tragedies in the metal community. Spend some time knowing bit of the backstory before doing that song. I have seen a number of reactors welling up in tears because Floors ability to emotionally connect you with a song.
Welcome to the world of Symphonic Metal and Nightwish! Yes, it's her growling)
Meet Floor Jansen (pronounced "Yansen", she is Dutch), the most powerful and versatile female singer today. Floor has classical background, rock academy behind, and used to be a vocal coach for a number of years. She can sing anything from more pop-y style, classic opera, to metal screams and growls. Floor is a queen of singing emotions.
You just have to see Ghost Love Score live @ Wacken [ ruclips.net/video/JYjIlHWBAVo/видео.html ]

So lovely to see you pick up on her growling. Most reactors seem to miss that. She is a wonderful singer. View some more of them and you won't be disappointed. Live performances are the best. Ghost river, song of myself and the greatest show on earth are just some of their great songs. Thank you 😀👍
Talk about jumping into the deep end of the nightwish pool. Not that it’s a bad one to start with. I would recommend ghost love score or romanticide next to show of even more of what floor Jansen can do
Oh yes that is her.
Beyond that, she can sing many types of music in multiple languages. She can do whatever she decides she needs to be do.
Hello Billy! Welcome aboard the Nightwish cruise... hope you're feeling comfortable here, because it will be a loooooooong journey from now on!😉 ("Yours is an empty hope" is an unusual starting harbour tho... it's more like the Nightwish ship found you in the middle of nowhere, just like Tom Hanks in Cast Away lol!😅😁)
If you want to explore Floor Jansen's vocal versatility you can either choose between Nightwish masterpieces or her participation to the dutch Tv show Beste Zangers (not competitive, 7 singers, each one showing his/her skills performing songs from other ones repertoire or personally significative for them, Floor covering Lady Gaga's Shallow 😍). If you are interested in Nightwish SIMPHONIC metal, I'll suggest to react not only to Floor's performances (could be hard: this woman's voice is something addicting) but even to other singers (previous ones and current ones) for a better/more complete comprehension of this amazing band! You are cool enough to experiment music you are not familiar to with a complete open mind, so yeah: you ARE cool!👍😎

Now you have done it! Nightwish army is coming in full force. They are going to take you on the Nightwish journey. Keep on this train....they are true story tellers, always always always do the live versions. The female vocalist (Floor Jansen) is the most versatile singer you will ever see/hear in your life!
Subbed to your channel ofcourse hoping for some more Nightwish 🖤❤️
The music is called symphonic metal and is very populair in Europe and South America. The band is from Finland and founded in 1996. So far the band has had 3 vocalists
1 Tarja Turunen (Finish) pure opera voice also very good live. (until 2005)
2 Anette Olzon (Schwedish) more pop style. fine in the studio but not good live. (until 2012)
3 Floor Jansen* (Dutch) (current). * She is the vocalist you saw in this clip. She has a classical vocal background education and can sing any style she likes from jazz to opera high to growling low. Believe me when i tell you you have not even scratched the surface yet of what she's capable of.
Band members
Tuomas Holopainen (The keyboard player and creative mind behind the band. He writes about 95% of the music and lyrics)
Marco Hietela (the viking with the long beard (Bass and vocals)
Jukka "Julius" Nevalainen Later (2015) replaced by Kai Hahto because of health issues (The drummer)
Erno "Emppu" Vuorinen (the hobbit like guitar player)
Troy Donockley ( a person who did not play on this song but is a multi instrumentalist from the UK)
The clip was shot about 3 years after Floor jointed the band right in the middle of their 2012/2013 US leg of the world tour. They asked her to join after tensions between the previous (Anette) vocalist and the rest of the band had rissen so high that they fired her. With close to a year still to go to complete the tour, and their next concert planned 2 day later they, needed a replacement fast. They called Floor because she had toured with them when she was part of the support bands"After Forever" and later "Revamp" on several occasions and they were quiet impressed by her vocals (who would not be?). She only had 2 days, including a flight from the Netherlands to the US, to learn the setlist and only had one rehearsal with the band a couple of hours before her first show and nailed it. Since they were making a documentary about the world-tour a lot of what happened was recorded. The documentary is called "Please learn the setlist in 48 hours" (ruclips.net/video/vhExkmWKMEU/видео.html )
As a next song to take a look at i would recommend the song that most reviewers start-out with "Ghost love score" live from Wacken 2013. This song introduced the world to new word called a Floorgasm. ;-) ruclips.net/video/JYjIlHWBAVo/видео.html
A friendly warning most people watching this clip developed a serious Floor/ Nightwish addiction. :-)
Floor went to school at Rock Academy i.e. not classical.
@@Akuvision2011 It's University level education. After 3 years or so in Rock Academy, she entered Tilburg Conservatorium and was later, after graduation, allowed to study extra years specifically more classical style of singing and musicals on top.
Altogether, Floor has 6-7 years of university level studies in singing under her belt.
It is her and she can sing anything, absolutely anything.
Total props to you, dude. You are the FIRST reactor (of many) to get it right away that Floor was doing the growls! Love your reaction!!
Billy - you want to headbang? Then you DO IT, my friend. You don't need to ask ANYONE for permission. We Metalheads are a broad church - especially The Nightwish Army. 🤘
The singer's name is Floor Jansen. Do her cover of Shallow (on Beste Zangers); it's so delicate it'll make you weep.
you know Recently I read a lady gaga fans comment that floor was good but not as versatile as lady gaga.
I had to find my jaw because it had rolled under the cupboard
What a song to have as your 1st Nightwish experience! Floor (the female vocalist) can do every style and has a range from growl to an easy D6. You're gonna get lots of suggestions for other Nightwish songs.
A good song to hear the bass player Marco's voice is "The Islander" from their concert in Tampere in Finland.
You've only scratched the surface of what Floor Jansen is capable of, where most singers song what they're capable of, she sings whatever she feels like, the requisite nightwish material includes, ghost love score and romanticide both live from Wacken 2013, the greatest show on earth from Tampere, and poet and the pendulum from Wembley, look up the story behind that song first though, another good choice is with their previous singer Tarja Turunen doing phantom of the opera, now brace yourself, the nightmarish army should arrive shortly
And so it begins. Welcome to the Nightwish Army.
Another Nightwish army member here. Appreciate your insight into the performance. Look forward to more reactions - Nightwish or not.
Dude, you're Flippin adorable! Great reaction and welcome from the Nightwish Army. If you're up for more, get ready for an incredible ride!
Welcome to the world of Floor. Be ready to be floored, experience floorgasms and meet the nightwish army. Have fun and enjoy the ride.
Billy, if you want to check out around seven different vocal styles employed within a song, you need to see Ghost Love Score live at Wacken festival. You *will* be amazed.
I laugh every time I hear Marko let out that piercing HA... thinking he is saying I know you all think it is ME GROWLING! Floor growling all the way. Wish she did it more often, it’s fun!
Dude you are totally cool and you totally need to do more Nightwish because I think you’re gonna love it. There is so much. Floor is ridiculously amazing vocally. She is one of the best on the planet right now.
Dude, you just scrached the surface of what this woman is able to do with her voice. She is a goddess
I love each and every one of the Nightwish members. I don't think I've ever seen a band with such chemistry on and off stage. And each and every one of em is talented af and does side projects as well. They are just anything you can wish for and more. I've seen people being hooked on them after only hearing 2 songs. I've seen grown man cry hearing Nightwish songs for the first time. They should be up there with the big names like Pink Floyd and Metallica. But it's not mainstream enough for radio, so a lot of people never even heard of em.
If radio was smart, they’d start playing some Nightwish!
welcome to the Nightwish army Billy!!!! more Nightwish reactions please!!
I really enjoyed your reaction. You also made me laugh with your cool/nerd talk--because I totally understand where you are coming from with it! (I am way too happy with my nerdy side to worry about being cool!) :D
Nightwish has so many different styles within their catalog of what they can do. You really do need to keep on listening to them to hear them all--because they are all worth hearing! A truly amazing group.
I think you are the first reactor that actually noticed Floor's growling straight away!
Oh I see you've met the queen. Now you've done it. Enjoy the ride.
p.s. You ARE cool.
I think you should react more to the Nightwish songs because I promise you, you are going to be suprised every time to this band, not just the lead singer, but the whole thing :)
The Nightwish song you want next is "Ghost Love Score", Wacken 2013. Sorry that I do not have a good link for you. Someone else has probably already supplied it.
Good work my man, Impressive that you worked out that was her growling, most people have no idea. She's the best singer on the planet as you will find out if you react to more Nightwish 🤘
Cool that you discovered the magnificent music of Nightwish and the incredible vocal acrobatics of Floor Jansen. Anything by Nightwish live post 2012 has her on the microphone and she uses all kinds of techniques in the diffferent songs. it's an adventure, or maybe a rabbit hole... :-)
Congrats!! You nailed it! And quicker than ANY vocal coach reaction yet! Great breakdown on EVERYTHING, Billy!!!
Awesome reivew! Ha! The look on your face when you realized it was she who was growling!!! A lot of people miss this. It took me a couple of views of this song a long time ago to confirm that it was indeed Floor! Up to that point, I never knew that she had THIS much of a vocal range. Why wait for the stage - go ahead and headbang in your videos!!!
It is pretty amazing!
"I'm too old to be cool". What are you talking about? NOBODY is too old to be a rocker, to bang their heads or to be cool. Most rockers today (both the fans are the artists) are AT LEAST in their 30's.
Hell man, I'm 72 and loving this. Please do another Nightwish reaction. I like Ghost River. Take a look/hear.
Just the tip of the nightwish iceberg, yep that was the amazing Floor growling. Nightwish are symphonic metal band. Please do more reactions from them they do not disappoint.
Thank you for the interesting breakdown! Also, I love your shirt
Thanks, Emily :)
If female growling throws a spanner in the works, react to "Jinjer - Pisces" :D
i want everyone to like this and see him react
this alllllllll day!!!!!!!!!
*Pisces* by Jinjer is a must.
Instead of the "classic" live-studio, I would dare to suggest the live version at Resurrection Fest 2018, so to get Tati's amazing stage presence too.
loved your reaction and analys Billy!
Jeez... this was posted a month ago. How did I miss this?! Anyways, that was a fantastic reaction and like many others, we are always delighted to see new people discover this amazing band. Don't see most people "start" their journey of Nightwish with this song, but you nailed it right on the head. Cannot wait to watch your other reactions. Keep up the awesome work!
Gold star for picking up on it straight away!
Oooooh you're in for a ride ^^ loved your reaction.
When the Gods gave out voices, they came to floor and said, what voice do you want to sing in? Floor - yes....
You should totally headbang Billy! ❤️🤘🕊
Good job picking the growls under Marko's singing. Stay on the Nightwish track, I guarantee you gonna enjoy the ride! Nice react!
Finally someone who noticed that growls Were from Floor
I was doing the mental math of who was on stage and saw that her mouth was still moving. Totally crazy! She’s awesome :)
great review,gotta fan here lad
Great reaction :) The number of "vocal coach" who can't even realize she's got the mic in front of her mouth while we don't hear her soprano voice is truly impressive, props for not being one of those !
You MUST hear Ghost Love Score from the Wacken Germany 2013 concert. AND just keep in mind that they were 2/3rds of the way through a 2 and a half hour concert. How's THAT for strength and endurance? FLOOR IS A GODDESS
one last thing.......be prepared to get at least 100 more subs within the nest few days.......The Nightwish Army is coming!!!!! Looking forward to more reactions!!!
This is the first time I've seen anyone's first nightwish reaction be THIS song. I'm not complaining.. I love this song.
I'm just thinking about the literal plethora of Floor skills you have yet to unbox and I'm EXCITED
great reaction. you just discovered the tip of the iceberg. you definitely check out more of Nightwish's songs.
Yes the growls where performed by Floor.
Green from Germany
The Nightwish rabbit hole welcomes you! Please step in keep your limbs in the car at all times. Above all enjoy the ride!
So glad to have stumbled on this Reaction. It's refreshing to see someone start out with a song other than the typical Ghost Love Score @Wacken 2013 request (though, I personally love the recording from Buenos Aires 2012 of that one, and I'm definitely not saying it's a bad song to start with ofc.)
I've been a fan of Nightwish since 2000, myself, and they are my favorite band.
I haven't read through the comments section but Floor Jansen is the 3rd Singer that Nightwish has had.
Prior there was Anette Olzon and Tarja Turunen. Tarja was the original singer, classically trained in Opera, who departed Nightwish on some pretty dramatic/bad circumstances. Anette Olzon replaced her and definitely was less accepted by fans (poor girl had even been booed off stage as well) because she had quite a different voice than her predecessor.
Some say the music might have been too big for her voice to handle. I personally just think she may have been under a lot of stress, specifically at the beginning, which might have been affecting her voice somehow. I don't know. I'm also of the opinion that Anette's time in Nightwish brought in a lot of fans as well.
There's typically a little back and forth that happens amoung fans regarding the vocalists or particular songs or what live recordings are better, whatever (which I tire of seeing... I can't understand why people can't just accept one another's opinion, especially if it differs from your own. It's not like you have to agree 🤷 )
I'd like to point out that Nightwish fans are VERY PASSIONATE but also quite warm and welcoming. Many of us fans are part of a discord server called Nightdreamers Reacticide (I'll post an invite link in my reply for anyone who wants to join). I also warn that some come mildly unhinged if you pause during something we refer to as a "Floorgasm" (most notably is the end note in Ghost Love Score that Floor Jansen's Floorgasm became known). It's all because we know what Is coming, and we want you to experience it to its fullest.
I could go on, but I am sure you will be properly informed by now (I'm forever late to reactions 😂🤷)
Anyway, I very humbly suggest the following (I'll post 3 each, specific to vocalist era songs, though Floor Jansen has sang many of the older songs live as well)
Tarja Turunen era Nightwish:
*Dead Boys Poem
*Gethsemane
*Beauty of The Beast
Anette Olzon Era Nightwish:
*Scaretale
*Turn Loose The Mermaids
*The poet and the Pendulum (please see my note under the list for this one)
Floor Jansen era Nightwish:
*Shoemaker
*Greatest Show on Earth
*Elán
-----
** My note on Poet and the Pendulum: this song was written after the departure of Tarja Turunen. Because Tuomas (keyboards/composer) and Tarja had been friends since childhood, he was very deeply affected by her leaving. There's a lot of fan theories about that time but it's clear that Tuomas received a lot of hate for the situation and went into a deep depression. In an interview he stated that the song was a way to kill himself so he didn't have to do it in real life. There's also a line in the song where a young boy says he only has 3 mins and counting left to live, and 3 mins from these Lyrics, a heartbeat track plays to a stop. Also I'll note that there's a choir boy who sings some parts of this song.
It will be good also to mention that MANY FOLKS, including myself, adore and love the live version that is sang by Floor. The way she can convey emotions through her voice gives the song another dynamic layer that is not as present in the album release. You can also see how other members of the band come over to stand beside Tuomas as a way of subtly saying "hey, we love you. We're here for you". You can even see how it's affecting floor as she sings, she doesn't look at him much because she is an emotional person and I'm sure she was holding back tears (you can hear that in a high note, how she nearly does cry. Subtle but it's there)
Finally, I'd love to inform you that Floor Jansen has been singing since she was a teenager (her first band was called After Forever) she's also appeared with a multitude of other singers/bands, been on a Dutch tv show called Beste Zangers where she sang Phantom of the Opera with The Henk Poort, and even had another band called Revamp when After Forever disbanded. She has even performed Puccini on Dutch tv when she was a bit younger.

Nightwish is AWESOME!!!! LOVE IT!!!
❤😎
Greetings from another in the Nightwish Army. Liked & Subbed. Loved your reaction. I just couldn't quit smiling when you'd say how impressed you are, and with their stage/lighting.... You ain't seen nothin' yet, lol. Wait til you hear Floor sing Opera, or Marco (blonde guy singing w/ her here) singing on his own, or delve into one of their most well-known/loved songs that will rip your heart out thanks to the brilliance of Tuomas (keyboardist, composer extraordinaire!).
So, you have jumped into the rabbit hole. That will be quite a journey. Nightwish is just great. Great composing, top notch musicians, inkluding 3 great vocalists. Lead vocalist is Floor Jansen and she is the definition of a vocal beast. Bassist Marco is the one, singing with her, here. On the latest album, multi-instrumentalist Troy, is utilised as a singer to, doing a great job, also.
I'd stay with Nighwish's live videos, because they are foremost a live band. Latest album will have to be studio versions, because there are no concerts yet, due to Covid 19.
Also check out Floor's performances on "Beste Zangers 2019", a Dutch TV show, featuring a group of singers, who sing for each other, each other's songs, or songs with a personal meaning. She shows a shitload of her versatility there, away from Metal.
yup, you've passed the test Billy, picking up her growling :) Not many reactors, even vocal coaches notice it, so hats off!!!
You obviously have a good ear, because yes, it is Flooooor dooing the groooowls.
(Glad you reacted to this version of the song because it has so much energy. This is an ongoing debate it seems. Which version to react to.)
If you do more Nightwish, I'll keep returning to your channel. :) Loved your reaction!
I love that you started with this one! Most kick off with Ghost Love Score. Your breakdown of the vocals was excellent. Nightwish Army has flooded your neighborhood now haha!
You will really come to love Floor on every level. She’s a beautiful person, amazing vocal acrobat, incredible performer, team player, and elegant yet intense.
NIGHTWISH ARMY ...INCOMING !! ..BE READY ...
Dude, love your commentary, self deprecating and insightful, very entertaining! Do some more Nightwish and whatever else!

Yes, go ahead and headbang my friend! :) Metalheads don't judge - and quite many of us are nerds too :D
I really enjoy watching your reactions you're awesome!
Thanks so much :)
NW is arguably the best group on the planet right now. Each and every member of the group is insanely talented. Together they're just off the charts. They work hard at their craft, and it shows.
You really can't go wrong with any of their live stuff. It's _all_ good. They have a wide catalog that touches on many different styles, so you can find pretty much anything that floats your boat.
One of the best reactions on this particular song so far. :) Well done! Realizing that Floor is growling and that it is not harmful for the vocal chords if it is done right is quite outstanding . The best part is: Nightwish has a lot more to offer. Ghost Love Score and Everdream from Wacken 2013, Poet and the Pendulum (please read the backstory and meaning for keyborder and compositor Thuomas Holopainen first) and greatest show on earth are in my opinion the best tracks for a good reaction. And maybe also some live songs with their first singer Tarja Turunen. Keep up the good work!
oh my friend Floor and Nightwish are going to change your life!!
Interesting first reaction to an unusual selection for a first time experience. Can’t wait till he sees more of Floor. Now pulling up a chair for when he meets up with Marco.
You're the fastest to notice her growls so far, at least what I've witnessed. From Wembley version you can hear them better but you beat those reactions aw well. Good job buddy.
Great video bro. Your reaction seems genuine and authentic good stuff . "Ghost love score" live in Waken will blow you away.
We want more Nightwish!!!
Now for Ghost love Score , waken live 2013 please , this will highlight Floors versatility and the band’s incredible musical capability , good reaction, liked and. Subscribed 👍😎🤪
