Damn, the original sims? My Sister and I used to play this game a ton when we were younger, glad to see you playing it in the strange ways you typically play games
As a poor child, I only ever had access to "base game" sims. One thing I really want to know is this - would this challenge work with no expansions? while I wouldn't call it "cheating", just being able to jump into a hole in the ground for certain objects seems to go against the spirit of the challenge.
This challenge would be harder without expansions, but I think it's not optimal to spend money on food in the magic town, I think it's better to order pizza from your own lot, for what you don't need any expansion. On the other hand, if you can go to a public lot with TV and a bathroom, it helps a lot, as you can freely watch TV, use the toilet and sink to have decent fun, bladder and hygiene levels.
I did it without expansions. I bought trees for 20k then sell them for free. First think I bought after one day of work was wall with telephone to be able to order pizza.
I remember setting a challenge for myself in Sims 1 with just the Livin' Large expansion to buy only essentials. This ended up essentially like a trailer in a trailer park, a cramped space with a shower, toilet, a fridge, you get the idea. I started making money by painting and got to the point where all I had to do was create one painting, sell it and I didn't even have to work after a while

@@chickennugget6233 I'm sorry, I wrote a whole breakdown on how to play it but youtube keeps flagging my comment, it's so frustrating. Basically, just search for The Sims 1 Complete Collection and the very first result is where you get it. The archive you want is called The_Sims_Complete_Collection_Win_Setup_EN. You'll need winrar to extract it. That page also gives you a full install guide, and even a code which you need. If that code is invalid, look at the comments for an alternative one. After you've got it running, grab the widescreen patch (again first result when you search for it). I hope this helps, sorry I couldn't be more specific but youtube won't let me.

@@TheDaris36 yeah but tbh i would have preferred it to look better ...
@@valpcd3092 Too much pressure to make games look good these days when the content of the games are nothing to get excited about. Play the game for what it is, not how it looks.
@@Joseph-iw3ek yes I mean that's why cataclysm: dark days ahead and dwarf fortress are amazing and must play games, but somehow I find myself not adhering to these games, probably because the graphics are nonexistent, and this is also probably why I am so hyped about the steam release of dwarf fortress
@@valpcd3092 wdym they both look beautiful
This is so much more entertaining than I ever imagined it would be.
It's also educational! This is a better representation of the impossible task of getting out of being homeless. You could read 100 research papers on the topic and not get anything near the information that this funny video imparted!
Love that you're basically taking us through a nostalgia trip at all the classic games. I haven't touched RCT2 for a few years and your video got me back into it.
Play it with openrct2
Can you imagine driving by this lot everyday and seeing someone on a sofa watching television with a shower stall.
You're a great storyteller man!
Even just hearing any of the music from this game brings a smile to my face ! I remember making a playlist and burning it to a CD just to listen to.
This was awesome
I've been playing the sims ever since the first one came out. I gotta say building relationships were a lot harder or slower than they are now. Its so easy to become friends or love interests. Thanks for popping up on my RUclips this was an unexpected happy memory.
Man this has me remembering some goodies from childhood. Sims, SimAnt, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Carnivores.. etc. Too many to list. Oh my god and Zoo Tycoon, man i loved when i was a kid. Wouldn't mind finding a copy of that again sometime. Great Vid !
Man, I would love a SimAnt remaster. The theme still plays in my head at the most random of times.
The music in this game is second to none. Absolutel the BEST soundtrack from ALL the sims games, and all video games. Simply the best OST of all-time.
despite the pixel issues from its age, it actually looks really realistic compared to the sims 4 more cartoony style, there's a lot of sim city vibes aswell, nice bit of nostalgia
ofc there is sim city wibes because all sim games is build by this standard. Sim City 3000 had similarities with The Sims for example
I really wish the complete collection would appear on Origin or GOG. So many memories. I have, of course, played all the sims up until now but there's something about the original that they're all missing. A special charm that only Maxis could do right.
Only way to get it nowadays is to pirate it, unfortunately. EA said the Ultimate Edition was a timed-only thing, and will never come back :/
@Slippin jimmy because EA doesn't care about people happynes, and $10 is too little money.
They won't re release the sims 2 for cheap, giving more reasons to the comunity to shit on sims 4 that nowadays cost over $1000.
You basically made the Sim equivalent of one of those "Do you want to know the secret of how I started from nothing and now look at all the Lamborghini's I own and regularly stand in front of to make videos with to show off all my purported wealth in the hopes of selling you my 'Secret to my Success' book" RUclipsrs

Damn, the original sims? My Sister and I used to play this game a ton when we were younger, glad to see you playing it in the strange ways you typically play games
I have just found you and I am obsessed with these nostalgic videos. More please!
I'm not sure about this new direction Vaush is taking, but I'll stick around.
The narration made this video amazing. Great storytelling, you deserve all of the success you can get.
This brings me so much joy, the music, the town, brings me back to a happier time
In The sims 1 Weekends dont exist so it can really get pretty repetitive, is one of the major shortcomings of the first game.
True to life!
@@reginaldsafety6090 unfortunately unlike life in the expansion you can take a vacation anytime and stay as long as you want 😂😂
Yeah that's the thing with me and Sims the jobs aren't actually worth working it's better to paint lol
As a poor child, I only ever had access to "base game" sims. One thing I really want to know is this - would this challenge work with no expansions? while I wouldn't call it "cheating", just being able to jump into a hole in the ground for certain objects seems to go against the spirit of the challenge.
Poor child my ass, not even the rich are going to waste 80x the main game price on dlc lmao
@@aesthetic3355 yes we are lol
This challenge would be harder without expansions, but I think it's not optimal to spend money on food in the magic town, I think it's better to order pizza from your own lot, for what you don't need any expansion. On the other hand, if you can go to a public lot with TV and a bathroom, it helps a lot, as you can freely watch TV, use the toilet and sink to have decent fun, bladder and hygiene levels.
I did it without expansions. I bought trees for 20k then sell them for free. First think I bought after one day of work was wall with telephone to be able to order pizza.
@@aesthetic3355 lmao I totally agree! (hastily covers all the sims 4 dlc I own with a blanket)
Vaush has good taste, ambiguousamphibian is a great youtuber
fyi he accidently put this in his vods playlist
ohhh reading these comments i was like wtf no way this is that guy
🐴
I remember setting a challenge for myself in Sims 1 with just the Livin' Large expansion to buy only essentials. This ended up essentially like a trailer in a trailer park, a cramped space with a shower, toilet, a fridge, you get the idea. I started making money by painting and got to the point where all I had to do was create one painting, sell it and I didn't even have to work after a while
I did that writing childrens books in sims 4
We were basically millionaire homeless blokes

that load laughter when sim with low fun is watching a TV is just hilarious :D always loved it
one of my fondest childhood memories was me and my friend trying to recreate the big brother house and all the housemates on this game.
I just looked up the soundtrack recently, that guy did a killer job. Great piano.
This game was a big part of my childhood + early teen years. I cherished it so much. Great video, brought back a lot of memories.
WHY IS THIS IS THE VAUSH VOD LIST
i was wondering the same damn thing LMFAO
Last time this happened he said he fell asleep on his phone while listening to youtube lmao
LOOL I'm here because of the exact same reason
Probably either V or Tempest/Ryan misclicked and it got automatically added to the playlist
As long as youtube is up I will watch and rewatch all AA sims 1 videos.
I appreciate anyone that has a nostalgic view on sims 1 greatly, like we can share some nice warm memories of childhood games.
"THAT CAR! THAT BED! THAT CHAIR!" That was my wife, reminiscing out loud. She doesn't watch RUclips, but she was drawn over to this video, watching from over my shoulder. Well done Brian Ambiguous! You have gained a new fan.
One of the best feelings in the world is grabbing a hot lunch and seeing that there is another video upload from ambiguousamphibian as I start eating.
I remember buying that sims disc set for my sibling as a Christmas present, what feels like an eon ago. They were so excited to get it and ugh all the memories and childish fun we had.
I like how Brian's face says "87" but his hip clothing says "17".
Not just a ladykiller, but a real fellow kid as well!
Something about imagining this guy carpooling to his job from his plot of land with just a chair is hilarious
Damn, I remember playing this when I was very young. I'd love to see what wacky philosophical stuff you could get up to in the sims series.
I shed tears at the sight of a CRT monitor now
@@ambiguousamphibian I miss my CRT monitor. 😭
You can just readily download the Complete Collection online, you didn't have to track down a physical copy xD
Runs perfectly and there's even a resolution and widescreen patch for the game.
Where can I find this??? I am dyying to play this again

This was one of the first games I ever played, and this video brought me back to staying up late on school nights with my mom making obnoxiously rich sim houses. It's definitely a product of its time but it was still so innovative. Thanks for this blast from the past :)
That's what I enjoyed about the older versions of the sims. There are a lot of mysterious things to discover and many weird unexpected ones as well
My favorite was the ability to upgrade the sink simply by pounding on the taps with a hammer.
This is so ridiculous I love it, so so much. Thank you.
Thank you for this video. Such a classic. One of the best games ever made. Sims 1 really paved the way for the gaming world.
I remember my mom coming home with the original one day (before the expansions), creating our family, and the first thing my sim dad did to inaugurate our new virtual household was to grace the porcelain throne. Ah, the nostalgia and memories of a time long past, how bittersweet.
Truer words cannot be stated.
"My house become something akin to a bitcoin mining farm albeit with magical spirits."
No ambiguousamphibian. That is literally how bitcoin mining works.
This was so good! I used to love the original Sims so this brought back memories! I never had that portal thing though, I would have loved that
This is giving graystillplays crossed with calm vibes.... amazing!
Bro you always put out the strangest and yet most interesting videos. It’s always something I could’ve never thought of or a game no one talks about anymore and yet I want to watch it so much more than the constant spam of empty content I usually see.
Just want to say I've watched the Claire the Bear part like 6 times and I can't stop laughing. The way she tiptoes away in broad daylight during your monologue...
What I find nostalgic is when he uses sim city music with Sims as the background 😍😍
I don't think I understood half of those words, but the visuals left some pretty colors for me to look at! 10/10.

Kevin?!?!?
You talking that crazy Simlish talk?
"Honey, guess what, I just bought us some land!"
"We own our own house?!?"
"Well....."
And Brian Ambiguous had it harder: there was no "Mrs. Ambiguous". In fact, it could be possible that he was divorced AND he lost whatever job he used to have.
Dude, you are making videos of the sims 1 in 2022 and they are great. How do you do this?! You are my role model now.
I like how he just keeps walking back into the road, tempting fate or a drunk driver
Oh yay new Vaunch stream
I loved the first Sims. Had the big box version of the base game and a compilation of pretty much all the DLC. Mods were where it shined though.
Perhaps Sims 2 was better, but the first Sims holds my fave ranking in the series to date.
I recall "grunge" being a popular mod category, otherwise known as poverty p0rn.
Sims 2 was better in pretty much every way, but Sims 1 will always have that wonderful nostalgia feeling (which i also get from Sims 2)
3:57 Dude that is the saddest fucking thing I've seen all year. Why did this hit so hard?
This poor, mentally disabled, homeless dude looking through the glass at his first morsel of food with the excitement of an abused shelter animal, and it's fucking cotton candy.
