  • There are 8 pairs of spinal nerves in the cervical spine, labeled C1 to C8. Each one is named after the vertebra beneath it, except the C8 nerves, which are above the T1 vertebra. These nerves play important roles in sending messages to and from the spinal cord, enabling the brain to communicate with parts of the upper body. Learn more: bit.ly/3iRCBzA

I feel like I have less bones in my neck, and my neck is very short, I can fit only 3 fingers below my chin , 4 fingers are congested, why am I born like this? or is it because of some accident or some bad habit like breathing through mouth, I don't have a well defined jaw line too.

How can a scan or test look for any compression on the 2nd nerve root, the posterior root? It says they carry sensory signals from the body back to the brain.
I've lived in hell for over 20 yrs with right side of my face not feeling like the left side. Over 20 yrs ago I went to my first ever chiro appt because of lower back bothering me from physical work. I was popped, err "adjusted", from head to tailbone.
My neck popped so loud. And down at the base it felt like a huge clunk-clunk sound and that something shifted. For a nano second I thought i was paralyzed because a weird sensation shot down my right arm into my fingers, and my lips and tip of nose tingled for a second.
Next day when i awoke my right side of face felt puffy - like it would when you fall asleep on it - but the full feeling never came back. Along with corner of my lips and around the eye-socket having droopy feeling, yet look normal in mirror.
My lips on right-side corner always feel like I just left the dentist after getting a shot of novocain and the effects haven't wore off all the way. When I went back to the chiro he denied anything he did would've caused that and only wanted to adjust me again. I never went back. But I went to ER's and all I've been told over and over is that it sounds muscle related. Ever since that initial "adjustment" base of my neck, or upper back, on right-side is always kinked up feeling and achy. I can't ever get the area to release. The neck area above it, or below it in middle of the spine area, those areas will pop, crack, creak, etc. But not this one specific area that has bothered me since that fateful day.
Over the 20+ yrs my right-side neck, upper spine, shoulder will all pop and crack, but not the left side. Left-side feels completely normal.
It is a daily living hell to awake and be like "Fuck! Another day in hell." because to look at me, my face looks normal. But to whatever is kinked up on right-side of my lower neck/upper spine that is causing signals to tell my brain i'm having a stroke or have some sort of palsy feeling on right-side of face is a daily torture.
Scan after scan , shows everything looks "normal." (when I say looks normal, I mean to regular doctors, like a neuro-surgeon, but after many years of regular doctors not believing me or saying they saw anything wrong, i decided try a chiro again, and of course 3 different ones all said same thing, that I had too straight of a neck and needed to have a series of adjustments to put a natural curve back into my neck, and of course they all say my right-side facial thing sounds muscle related too), I'm told I have slight arthritis showing, and tiny little bone spurs growing on the joints. Which I can hear whenever they've had me try physical therapy to maybe "strengthen" the neck to make the feelings/sensations go away. Every tuck, extending out/in/down/up, tilting, turning, etc. i feel and can hear, little crunching and grinding sounds.
I don't get it. I've tried every muscle relaxer, every anti-depressant(told it would help over-active nerves), the neurotin and lyrica, and nothing eases the feeling/sensation.
Even more frustrating is over and over being dismissed and talked down to that "well. whatever it is, it doesn't seem life threatening."

Sorry to hear you are experiencing all of these issues, it certainly does sound frustrating. Here's some more information about neck cracking and grinding sounds that you may find helpful:bit.ly/35Z0Hp0

I'm a PT student so I would like to recommend you to adhere to their advice and see a physical therapist. They wouldn't just "strengthen" your muscles but they will do something for the pain.
If I can share what I know basing from your provided information, the presence of bone spurs indicate osteoarthritis, a degenerative condition. The cracking sound prove it since there is already bone-to-bone contact which means that the cartilages are already dehydrated and no longer facilitate smooth movements. The sensations your feeling is nothing to do with muscle, since the symptoms radiate all over your face, it may have to do something with an impinged nerve (radiculopathy).
I'm not sure of this but please do go to a PT and let him/her diagnose and treat you properly. I wish you nothing but good health! God bless.
