Who would have known alot of people would gather in a 14ft wide alley all at once? This was so unexpected and no one to blame because no organizer sponsored such event, just alot of people deciding to gather to celebrate... Can't turn back time, just pray for those who left us too soon and especially the families who won't see their love ones anymore.
Ужасная, глупая трагедия унесла жизни. Столько молодых людей погибли страшной смертью. Мои глубочайшие соболезнования родным и близким погибших. Держитесь.
Have been in huge crowds maybe twice in my life & have had a hint of what a crowd surge & crowd crush might feel. I have avoided similar situations thereafter. My heart goes out to the victims & the people they left behind. I prayed for them yesterday 01Nov2022...terrible terrible tragedy
Tragically, there were no police guidelines or manuals to control the massive number of people who flocked to those narrow alleyways and were basically crushed to death because they could not breathe. If they have some type of police control, this could have easily been prevented. Easily!! My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and the families who were affected by this tragedy and hope this never happens anywhere in the world. I just finished watching a video on RUclips "How to survive human stampede." I highly recommend watching this video. Lastly, the police chief in Seoul and also the city mayor of Seoul MUST resign and take responsibility for this tragedy. Such incompetent people!! What in the world were they doing when this was going on??????? Seriously!! Peace Y'all!!
From what I have heard there were a lot of police there but on the main roads not in the alleys. Maybe they didn’t think that there would be that massive amount of people in the alley ways. They were more concerned about keeping people off the main roads that had automobile traffic. I also heard that the amount of police needed to control that amount of people would have been in the hundreds ie. 500 to 1000 Before you condemn the whole Seoul police forces realize that the amount of man power needed to effectively control that crowd would mean most of the police in the huge city of Seoul would be deployed to a very small area of Itaewon. Hind sight after these tragedies always must blame someone. It was a huge party that they have every year up until COVID. It’s always very crowded there at Halloween just this year they couldn’t foresee that so many more people would have shown up. A perfect storm happened. Tragic and unstoppable.
Wow, must be hard for you to write such a long comments while laying on your bed after doing nothing for 5 years. Read the room, the fire fighters and policemen were crying while giving statements about the tragedy.
very sad...no amount of money, apology or trying to make it up will be enough to take the pain away...so many young people gone and life wasted... loved ones lost, and loved ones left behind...businesses canceling Halloween events and promotions, too late for that now...even the place is tainted now...no amount of prayers or blessings will make it peaceful now...
Why did local vendors not open their doors to allow the struggling crowd in when they saw them struggling??? They have a part to play not saving lives. Common sense and seriousness missing in those situation because of Halloween, partying and loud music. Senseless way to die, die by crushing, such a torture. If the person had the mind to detour they could have save themselves.
Don’t blame the vendors for this tragedy. Most of the bars and restaurants were at capacity all ready ie. they were over crowded all ready. The ones that bordered on this alley if there were any probably couldn’t open there back doors anyway with that amt. of people pressed against them.
Korean politics is corrupt. The ruling and opposition parties fight every day. At the time of the Halloween crush in Itaewon, 700 police officers were deployed to Yoon's house, and hundreds of police protested against the regime in Gwanghwamun. The remaining 200 police officers were deployed in Itaewon, but were deployed around the road without entering the alleyway, focusing only on cracking down on drugs. "It's not my fault," the Minister of Public Administration and Security said in a briefing. People gathered in Itaewon are avoiding responsibility, saying that it is not enough to cause a disaster. In Korea, smart people are taking care of foolish people and corrupt regimes.
Sheer stupidity and selfishness led to this tragedy. Why would anyone see a packed alley full of people crammed in, and decide that it's fine to go in there yourself? Pure idiocy, and thanks to that, so many people are dead. I feel so sorry for those lost, and the loved ones left behind. This was 100% avoidable. Shame on everyone who contributed to this.
Study crowd surges you as an individual don’t have a choice about turning around there is way too much momentum propelling you forward and no room to change the trajectory.
Your comment is an example of stupidity. A lot of people are coming in from the back which leads to the train station, those who kept coming in have literally no idea what was going on in the front. If you're one of the crowds you would just thought that the line of people is just moving along to one direction but unfortunately it all went downhill because there is not enough space and people kept coming in which leads to them stacking up with one after another. This is just a very unfortunate accident. I've been into this scenarios a lot of times and you really have no control of it when you're actually there.
@@user-pj4rg5ol8w exactly. Glad someone took some common sense here and/or research. It's not that everyone wanted to go there, it's when people starts pushed inch by inch in it.. and once people fall it means more space, where new people around the corner got pushed into the alley.. and thus crush others it's last breath out of them. It's very sad.
@@user-pj4rg5ol8w "This is just a very unfortunate accident." WRONG! There were people at the top of the hill chanting, "Push Push Push!" These people must live with the guilt that they committed manslaughter (3rd degree MURDER).
Every person phone should have a certain alarming security system, who send msges to nearby security system, upon sensing crowd traffic signals, activity. Places should have signals catching devices where they alarm and send security, upon catching more than limit signals. And send precautionary measures.
This is so sad. I have so many fond memories of this area and am so sorry for the families of the deceased.
human stupidity and police incompetent.
Exactly... 😞😞😞
The Itaewon district will never be the same.
I hope the owner finds peace and the people of South Korea the world mourns with you I wish you a fast healing

Not actually a crowd surge, a crowd crush. There's a distinct difference.
Now 156 deaths, so sad.
Passions are not vulgar, they are tragic.
Not to forget this ever RIP

This alley should be closed down
Do you need another Halloween, S Korea? You follow what people do.
