I just got a longarm machine. I will use all the advice and tips you given in this video. You gave the info I needed for retreating and how to turn off the low thread reminder sounds. I've watched you many times, you're great!! Thank you!
Air quilting! Genius! Why didn't I ever think of that! 🤦🏻♀️I just started a FMQ challenge and was hesitant to start. Now I just air quilt it first to get the feel of it and it leaves dots for a guide when I go back with thread. Your tutorials are wonderful. Thank you.
Here I am a year later to say that I just ordered my Q20 yesterday and I’m so excited I can hardly stand it. At the last minute I opted for the frame instead of the table bc I’m finding as I get older it’s a lot harder to move the quilt around on a table. So so so excited.
I am determined that this will be my next machine. Some time in the next couple of years before I retire, I’m going to bring this baby home. I just have to convince my husband. 😝
The air quilting is amazing. I’m learning to quilt and that’s perfect for me. Thank Laura. This is an amazing video. You’ve taught me a lot with this one.
What a great idea! I recently acquired an Innova sit down longarm and have done a lot of practicing on muslin with scrap batting. I could have saved a lot of material if I had started this way!
I saw your video when you first got your Q20. It inspired me to get one. I am still learning about free motion quilting and need lots of practice. I will look into air quilting! Thanks!
Hey Laura just wanted to see how you are liking the Q20? Do you find it’s necessary? I have a decent domestic but keep dreaming of a longarm. I’d always looked at handiquiltet til I saw you inbox the bernina. I’ve never used a bernina but it looks like a lovely machine to use. Thanks. D :)
Laura, will you please tell me the name and possible resource for ordering the stencil that you used on the yellow side of your quilt sandwich? I would really like that for borders! Thank you so much!
Yes you can do this on any machine at all! Any sewing machine and quilting machines. You just need to set the machine so it doesn't read the thread if it is a computerized machine. If it's manual it should work regardless. Have fun
HI...I was so excited to get my Q20...but i cannot get it to stitch. I must be doing something wrong, though i have watched yours and berninas videos. due to the current situation i still cannot get all the way back to where the machine was bought :( I have replaced the bobbin case 2 times, and the bobbins, i have tried every needle i can think of....basically the top thread will shred and break, though i think that the issue arises from the bobbin thread becoming very tight. I have been trying to use the BSR modes (the reason i purchased the machine) i think it usually happens after i have pressed the back of the pedal to stop the BSR so that i can move the ruler or adjust the quilt, then when i start sewing i can feel the tension on the bobbin thread keeping the quilt from moving freely and then the top thread will shred/ and sometimes skip. this does not happen every time, but almost every time. I have gone back through and been sure that i am winding the bobbin properly and checking the bobbin tension....is there anything you can think of? TIA
@darby darbys mom Laura has my dream machine! I've been watching these Berninas for a bit now. I do not sew or quilt for a living, just a hobby, so I will never justify the expense. As such, it will remain a dream. (While I do have to be realistic, a person can dream, right?) I do hope that Laura continues to share videos using her Bernina. It is a pleasure to see Berninas in action!
when I have everything threaded, top and bottom, and pull gently on the top thread, it pulls at the needle too hard. Tension is set to 4. Is the thread tension supposed to be this tight? Using Isacord 40 weight.

Just got a Q20 and the air quilting idea is perfect. I’m definitely going to try it!

Best tip ever, "air quilting." Never dawned on me to do that. Thanks! Hoping for a Q20 for Christmas!🙂

I had to convince my wife! Finally got mine.
I purchased this machine last October and have yet to use it until now. Thanks for the great introduction!
it's like muscle memory. your hands learning how it felt and know what is expected of them.
The air quilting is amazing. I’m learning to quilt and that’s perfect for me. Thank Laura. This is an amazing video. You’ve taught me a lot with this one.
If ever you do events and are in the US, I definitely want to attend
Thank you so much , I have a Q20 and I've learnt so much today, can't wait till next week. I'm from New Zealand and love your channel♥️♥️

Thank you for that idea of air quilting. I will try this on my sewing machine and hopefully master free motion quilting.
What a great idea! I recently acquired an Innova sit down longarm and have done a lot of practicing on muslin with scrap batting. I could have saved a lot of material if I had started this way!

I would contact Bernina www.bernina.com/en-US/Support-US They are always willing to help and They have a lot of help videos
Awesome
Thank you u are awesome
Does this machine offer computerized FMQ?
Not on this table, but you could put it on a frame and add computerization.
Can you piece on this machine or FMQ only?
This is designed for only free motion quilting or ruler quilting
Wonder how much it costs?
Call your local BERNINA Dealer. You can find a dealer close to you here: www.bernina.com/en-CA/Store-locator-CA
Cathy Castro A setup with the table, October 1-December 31, 2019, is $11,499. A full Q24 on a frame is 30,998 during the same timeframe.
Thank you for your replies!

Sure noisy the faster you go. I'd have to wear ear plugs.
My microphone amplifies almost everything sorry about that
