Fully agree, have one of their CDs permanently in the car (the one with Eiledon). Mind you, Biffy Clyro gives us some hope. Forgot to add. Always thought the Big Country bassist was fantastic - always on point. And, Simple Minds lead guitar played embellishments perfectly - almost ignoring he was lead. Scotland has given us plenty. Greetings from Ireland.
You prolly dont give a shit but if you are bored like me atm then you can watch all the latest movies on instaflixxer. I've been binge watching with my brother recently :)
Agree.I can’t name a better Scottish guitarist/singer/songwriter.Like someone says the Biffy have came close early on in their career but Adamson was a one off.I was too young to see them live but what I’d give to see them with him fronting
@@theenglishman3368 Kirsten has said in the past, any time the subject has been raised, that she is more likely to record her own versions of her fathers songs.
I was at this concert. They were always fantastic and this was no exception. They played an important part of my seminal years. Nothing like them these days.
I'm not really a person who harps back to the "good old days" but I think the live music experience in the 80s, 90's and early 2000's was so much better - and sadly I don't think we'll ever go back to that. You'd queue for tickets at the venue or reseller, queue at the venue early enough and you'd get straight to the front, no mobiles in your face, no over managed over produced experience .....just you and the music. I had the privilege of seeing Big Country several times in the 80s and early 90s and they're still the best band I've ever seen live.
I was at this concert and saw them there a couple of years later. Still say to this day they were one of the best live bands of that generation If not all time. Always thought they were better in a smaller arena where the crowd was right on top of it all. Always came away from a BC gig knackered, deaf and in a state of joy. RIP Stuart you are sorely missed by all your fans.
I was there too. One of my favourite ever gigs, T&C was the best venue around back then, absolutely scorching hot evening as I recall, and even the support band - an outfit called The Black Velvet Band - were great.
Yes, my first time was at the Birmingham NEC in 1986 with 15000 people and last was in a University gym in Milton Keynes with about 350 people in 2000 yet both cases they were excellent definitely no going through the motions showing the size of the audience made no difference.
I’ve seen a few bands, local pub bands, mega stadium bands......none of them, nobody has come close to Big Country live........seen them probably 10 times since 1986, in all their guises, and the music doesn’t die
My little brother turned me onto this group back in 1987. Have been a big fan since then, no one sounds like they do, they are one of a kind and miss them.
That version of Rockin in the Free World is absolutely fantastic with some brilliant guitar work. The solo perfectly captures the mad world we live in and Stuart clearly loved playing it. Oh and the rest's not too shabby either😀. Lucky lot to have been there!
Ah Stuart....wish things had gone differently....wish you were still here weaving your magic.....lost count of how many times I have viewed this....miss you Big Man
I have been obsessed with the song "In A Big Country" for a while now after noticing it on Sirius radio while working my restaurant job and finally am digging into their other material. I consider myself a pretty well versed music fan but I am absolutely blown away that I haven't seen this band's name come up more often in popular culture. Every song is immediately captivating. The energy in their live videos is always through the roof. I cannot get enough. I was sad to discover the singer's fate. To whoever cares to know... his and the band's legacy continues to reel in new fans in the year 2022. Thank you for this music. Cheers!
I care to know! 😊 Awesome that the younger generation discovers this awesome and mind blowing band. It is bittersweet that Stuart left us, but his legacy lives on. His daughter is now a music artist in her own rights! Come up screaming: Stay Alive!
Brilliant gig. I'm there somewhere, right in front of Bruce. I remember being excited because the first song was the rarely seen live Restless Natives. One of the best live bands I've seen. That feeling of being soaked with sweat and then hitting the cool, fresh air outside the venue. Nothing like it. RIP Stu.
hearing big country's takes me back to being a 16 year old in the early 80s great times. loved this band rest in peace to the lead singer a great musical artist
Ah, the good old days growing up! I remember finding The Crossing while browsing through vinyl records in my local store. After listening to it I looked up their other published albums and then buying them as they got released. Learning about Stuart’s death was a shock. I was living in the US since April 2000, so I learned about it in US news media. It was a sad, sad day… But I’m glad BC are still together and rocking in the free world!
I sometimes think how can someone so talented have took his own life, he had loads to live for, hard to think 11 years after this performance he's no longer with us 😥
It happens, just as we think people are content with their lives You can't understand their minds, even the happiest ones, you don't have to be a sad or depressed person One of my best mates commited suicide ( age 39) He was always a great laugh at school, but it could of been something to do with the loss of his Father, money, Marriage, life is awful when you just can't sort things out to keep everyone happy I don't think Stuart, was a sensitive Man, but he must of been going through shit times that the alcohol made his thoughts get darker I don't believe he was another Kurt Cobain, 🙏
I used to think the same thing until I learned he suffered from depression and alcoholism. He was sick and he needed help and I'm sorry no one could provide that help to him. I would want Stuart to know that he is missed and loved and I hope he's found peace.
Stuart had 3 bottles of wine so I would blame it on the drink & being overwhelmed & alone. I 'd say that last marriage put him over the edge. He had been gone from home for 5 weeks, hitting all the bars & ending it in Hawaii. before he did that so he would n been
