You should change your channel name to "Not so simple Germany"😂 Just kidding, I love your explanations👍
😅 haha - well that's exactly why we chose Simple Germany - the opposite of what Germany is sometimes 😉
@@simplegermany True🙂 plz plan a meet-up in Munich
You girls ( ladies) work very hard on your job translating very confusing German problems.
Thank you.😊
I would also probably add that most gyms here have a trial session/week, which is helpful while choosing one. And some gyms are included in corporate benefits program. 😊
trials sessions are everywhere
Cancelling of gym memberships is also very difficult in the US.
yessssss very much like Germany
Another insightful video...one thing I'd like to add when it comes to gym etiquette is that everyone should re-rack their plates after they're done working out on a machine. It's just common decency and helps everyone get their workouts done in a timely manner as opposed to say wasting 20 mins looking for the right weights coz they're not at their usual place.
That’s a good tip! ☺️
You guys are amazing! I came to German a while ago, still trying to figure things out. Muchas gracias por su ayuda!!!
Welcome to Germany! We hope your settling is running smoothly 😊
Thank you for sharing your experience about the contract issue. I had a similar issue and even though I cancelled the membership in writing and had the cancellation stamped and signed, they still continued to withdraw money from my bank account and stole money that I never got back.
This was after I left Germany. They probably knew I cannot sue them from abroad.
After the original contract period (for ex. 6 months, 1 year, 2 years) a monthly cancellation must be offered. But this is only the law for new contracts since march 2022. If you have an older contract, there might be an automatic contract renewal for another year. So be careful.
I had this problem and got my bank to take the money back every month and eventually the gym gave up.
according to my 25 euro per month contract in McFit I can also bring my friend to the gym on weekends and it is really great!
I have probably same contract as yours. Mine was 50% off last January and went from 20 euro per month to 25. Overall I'm okay with McFit gyms.
great explanation video, girls! disinfecting the machines I've used seems like a pain in the ass
It's usually just a quick wipe 😉
Is there any beginner friendly gyms that you would recommend? I'm interested in trying going to the gym but I don't want to pick one that's too hardcore.
For me its not surprising, in big capitals the big gyms renew membership. This is written in the initial contract.
I am surprised that i have to change my shoes before the workout! One year living in Germany and no one has ever said anything about it.
Maybe you have very clean street shoes 😉
Hi guys, I'm from Namibia and I must say before asking my question, that you two are aesthetically pleasing to look at😍 Anyway now that I'm done being weird😅 Are there any specific rules for owning gym equipment in apartments for example?
Not that we are aware of as long as you don't damage the rental apartment. We own a workout bench and some dumb bells as well.
@@oilirontyme8787 I was joking when I said I was being weird, I gave them a genuine compliment and asked a genuine question, there is nothing disrespectful or creepy about that, if you don't have a sense of humour maybe keep your comments to yourself🤷🏿♂️
Danke für den wertvollen Inhalt. Könnten Sie einige Orte empfehlen, die Sie mit dem Deutschland-Ticket besuchen können?
Hey are gym showers gender seperated or its mixed and also in locker room is women's changing room hidden from men or can men also see women changing room.
Showers and changing rooms are usually gender separated.
Hey guys, thanks for all your work and the information! It's all really helpful!
I just have a quick comment; I have lived in Germany for a while now, and experienced living in 5 cities in the South, North and West of the country. Düsseldorf is a beautiful city, I just cannot seem to feel comfortable or claim my place in the city's overall society.
As a brown person, 9/10 Düsseldorfers in day to day life are so rude to me, and always treat me with disrespect. This does not seem to be the case for my white German friends. People here also seem to be very uptight and stuck-up, way more than the average in Germany. Such is never addressed by your videos though. Could it be solely my ethnicity / complexion?
I do not know though if I would recommend anyone not white to move to such a closed-minded city.
So sorry you have had that experience. Typically, foreigners and Germans alike describe the area of Cologne and Düsseldorf as the most open and friendliest compared to other areas in Germany. So not sure what triggered your opposite experience. As I discuss in our video on racsim in Germany, I as a brown person feel rarely discriminated in Düsseldorf: ruclips.net/video/56mpOM7bidw/видео.html. But of course everyones experience is individual and different.
If I don’t want to go to gym , let’s say for certain months or years, can I freeze my membership?
Depends on your gym 😉. Better to check with them before you get a contract if that criteria is important to you.
MC FIT IS THE BEST
Are there gyms that doesn't need to do contracts? Like just pay a monthly fee and exercise? Like a prepaid sim card 😂
It is not that common for gyms. Urban Sports Club has the possibility to cancel monthly.
Some gyms allow monthly cancellation (and offers cheaper price if you pay one year lumpsum)
Too many rules!!! Ughhhhhhhhh!!!
